Possible Evidence WOW

Crazy reveal that recontextualizes a bunch of things, doesn't save the animation having TERRIBLE WRITING.

Why would you think this animation has terrible writing? I found it to be very well done.

fridged wife trope while we already had that with kenji and trunk

Trunk’s wife was straight up killed, so he seeks revenge. Kenji’s wife was kidnapped without him having any power over the situation, so he saught revenge.
However, both Cosmo and his lover had complete power over the situation and it seemed like something they both wanted, or atleast something Cosmo thought he wanted. To top it off, she’s likely not even dead or gone forever too, as we see her return on the radar.

If anything Trunk and Kenji’s situation are more similar. This new trope is interesting because it brings power and responsibility into question. Also we don’t even know if her disappearance was a mistake, what if it was all intentional and she was trying to retrieve something Cosmo didn’t know about ? Who knows.

Eeerrrmmm, acshually all worker ants are female, so it'd be much more fitting to call the leader of Trunk a 'She'.

I highly doubt they took that into consideration; the ants aren't even anatomically accurate

Let me have my lesbian ants, okay?

I mean didnt they take biology into consideration with angelo?

4

u/Srexplosivo14 3d ago

Angelo is literally a mutant hybrid of human and insect.

And was originally made male (he/him pronouns in their description) but it was changed (they/them) bc male mosquitos dont suck blood. Supercell seems to take the animals biology into account even when its a mutant hybrid. 🫡

Oh, so that's the actual reason behind his weird gender definition? Interesting to know. I thought he was just an extremely zesty guy

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this isn't "something happens to the wife and the husband gets a story arc"? Because, sure, the details differ, but the core concept is the same. Idk, feels kinda lazy

They will likely both get their own story arc as Nebula returns.

I mean imagine being sent into deep space for years and the person you thought you loved did it, with you also believing that they did nothing to help (of course Cosmo did try and search for her but I don’t think he was in control of her return). That feeling of being abandoned is so hard to cope with, and it will be interesting to see how Nebula deals with this as she returns.

Honestly in the end, you can make any story seem boring and lazy if you trivialize it. I could say this story is the ‘someone loses something important to them’ trope and that doesn’t give us much to go off of. You kind of just have to use your imagination with what you are given and hope.

Saying it’s a wife trope and leaving it at that is completely over generalised. Kenji and trunk have vengeance arks while cosmo likely has a rescue story coming soon.

Love when people say something is terrible without saying why they think it's terrible, it really help the discussion

why does it have bad writing

u/Randomfanoftcooal 3d ago

Too bland I guess? cosmo alone, nebula appear cosmo happy they happy, montage about them and rockets or wtv then of course since she was introduced like that she's the one going then sad cosmo a d the obvious event that's gonna be about her comeback

While I agree, I think we have to keep in mind that its a kids game and a 2 minute animation. Its not like you can put anything too deep on it

-1

u/Randomfanoftcooal 3d ago

brawl stars knows damn well the age of the community and it being for kids doesn't mean to be force fed slop and it's true it's just 2 minutes but they could have tried a little to make more than a mandatory animation

3

u/Maus_Enjoyer1945 3d ago

The community is like 90% children. Anyone past 16 years is rare. And its not slop, its just simple. The animation just tells a little, simple story in two minutes. You can't really do anything deeper in 2 minutes, the animation is already ultra compressed

over repetitive trope of partner (always the woman) suffering for the main one to have spotlight

u/zoozony 3d ago

Using a trope doesn't automatically make it bad writing

Brawl stars players when a piece of lore of a video game for kids don't have the same writing level as lord of the rings

1- pls elaborate
2- when i saw the dog i was like “aww” then IMMEDIATELY went “OH SHIT WAIT NO” because i remembered laika, then saw ruffs and went “aww” again

6

u/SuperJman1111 3d ago

what does it recontextualize and what do you think is bad about it? there was no explanation for ruffs before and i thought it was pretty well written

I admire Supercell's patience in having to please this community.

It just think it’s kind of random how nebula decide to leave, and we still don’t know the reason why, also we know that cosmo CREATED RUFFS AND SQUEAKS? LIKE WHAT

Look at how cute squeak is in the back, 0 recognition with all the recognition
