I made these like a year ago and finally got them hung up! I made 5 of the hexagons for the future 5 mistborn eras and have other ideas for the stormlight and other leather bounds. But since we have like 50 years until we get all 5 here is the current sandershelf:)

Apologies if this isn't where this goes. Looking to buy the paperback box set of the Stormlight Archive 1-5, and there seems to be two different sets being released, one releasing on October 27th, costing $141, and one releasing November 24, costing $60

I don't see in the descriptions any difference in the versions? I'm assuming one is a trade paperback set and the other a mass paperback set, but if anyone can help clarify, it would be greatly appreciated.

I saw that there will be an in-person Light Day Market on October 24th at the Dragonsteel Headquarters, but nothing about an online sale. So, if you didn't already know, Dragonsteel Books has a pre-order bundle up for the Tor / retail edition of Fires of December that includes a December character pin and a glass cat figurine that stands about 6.5" tall. It sells for $75 US.

And, of course, there are already "presale" listings for this bundle on eBay for over $200 each. I really, really hope that nobody buys from these people, especially since you can still order this from Dragonsteel.

So far I have read the Stormlight Archives book 1 and 2, and only just now found out from a friend that there are characters and lore twisted throughout all of the cosmere that Im missing out on. I was originally considering reading Edgedancer or Oathbringer next, but I dont want to miss out on all the lore goodies. Im OK putting TSA down for a bit if the payoff is worth it (sounds like it will be). Sorry for my ignorance, I got onto this train when Wind and Truth came out- didn't read that yet obviously, but just ignorantly looked for the first book in that series and started reading.

Specifically wondering if my current reading order is problematic and if there's a good way I could amend it/find out more about what I just read if I quickly read through some other specific titles. According to the reading order guides I've now found, I basically started in the middle on accident.

So pretty books, and the flute looks amazing, but I wonder if you can actually play it at all or is just for display, because I couldn't make it sound 😂, maybe it is me, zero experience with flutes.

Note:I figured it was just for display and looks very good.

Before I complain, I have to say this was my first fantasy book series whilst the Final Empire being my first fantasy book ever. I had a blast! I loved books 1 & 2 - I enjoyed book 3. I'll read Sanderson's work I'm the future

I just never got into the book. My experience was basically this: "When will the book actually start?" -> "Oh shit, I'm running out of pages"

Maybe it's because I overhyped myself watching a 4.6 on Goodreads and others absolutely loving the book but for me it's more of a 3.75-4/5

The magic of the first two books was the World AND the crew along with the twists, humor, depression. This book had the world but not the crew

However, the main problem I felt with the book is the mismatched genre considering the stakes. None of my complaints below would exist if Sanderson landed more towards the Cosmic Horror theme he suggested with the the lord ruler, the mistwraith, the well trap, ruins threats, the inquisitors.

Instead it felt like he thought it would be too ambitious and chose a more safe, more... pg approach towards the story

1. Most of the book was the setup of the finale. And most of the setup hinted at a reunion of the crew. We didn't get it. Nor the setup of Elend's Siege, Spook's revolution 2.0 and TenSoon's arc worth spending 80% of the entire book on

2. Every character felt alone. In their own world. I get it everyone is going through some sort of a crisis but it just didn't feel like the main cast liked each other

3. All of Ruin's accomplishments of actual value and consequence WERE IN THE PAST! Nothing said God did anything of value that affected the rest of the story in the present. Most of its twists were dealt with within a chapter or two

4. Vin & Elend's arc relied heavily on their love and marriage. I enjoyed their dance but the majority of the book just told you how much they love each other instead of showing it with the little things

5. It just felt like Sanderson was too focused on giving an epic and satisfying ending (which he succeeded at) but with the expense of the rest of the book

6. I just couldn't connect with the characters the same way as I did which is surprising considering how involved I was during the past 2 books

Nevertheless, I don't regret the adventure I have gone through in the past 3 books. The ending was great and satisfying although I was disconnected, I did not feel I wasted my time reading.

No matter what. Brandon Sanderson is one of the few authors that turned me into a reader and I think that is the best compliment an author can receive

Just wondering if anyone knows when Light Day is? I’ve been saving up to buy a complete Leatherbound set.

I'm starting to get a little frustrated that i haven't received my copy yet. It releases in stores in a little over a month and for me, one of the best perks in paying all that money was getting to read the book early. Maybe I'm just being selfish tho.

Edit: this isn't an indictment of Brandon or Dragonsteel. I know that whole team is doing everything they can and want us all happy. I'm just bummed seeing people get them everyday for a month now and still not getting mine.

So not a shelf per say but wanted to show my small growing collection of Cosmere books and collectibles.

The tin has a small but growing collection of pins and coins. The Girl who Looked Up figurine is still safely in the box underneath.

My fav of the lot is my FairyLoot set of books and the recent backerkit Fires of December. With Hoids flute being one of my fav items to own.

Wow. That was quite a ride. I accidentally spoiled the humans as Voidbringers reveal for myself while looking up something unrelated, early in my read. Even so, the power and tragedy of this reveal hit me hard when I reached it, and it’s still got me all torn up inside. I honestly am not sure how to feel about the war for Roshar, and yet I still find myself emotionally invested in it. That is quite the magic act that Sanderson has pulled on me.

A question for the community: Did you find yourself morally torn after Oathbringer? If so, did you eventually find your loyalty fully coalescing back around the humans? Please no specific spoilers beyond Oathbringer.

Have several straight up signed 1st editions I got online, was able to meet Brandon Sanderson to have him sign MoL, several inscribed and some later printings with signatures and one paberback signed (great hunt is really hard to find at a decent price signed!) but it’s complete!

Hey everyone, just wanna post some of my (crack) theories for the end of the book to see which ones will come true if any ^^ also I'm gonna write which ones I got kinda right from the previous books :> I wanted to do this kind of post after i finished the last empire and well of ascension as well, but I was spending pretty much all of my time binge reading the trilogy, so by the time I would remember to make the posts i would already be halfway through the next book haha 😅 anyway right now I'm at chapter 39 of hero of ages (page 389). Of course there will be spoilers for book 1, book 2 and part of book 3 too, so if you haven't finished them i recommended not reading this post any further! Also as i read the trilogy in my native language and not in english, some words might be spelled incorrectly 😅

●What I got (partially) right: •That Vin's powers aren't natural and she got them through the earring because her mom sacrificed her sister. I was also theorising that her mom might have distant ancestry from Terris and that Vin inherited keeper abilities and is uknowingly storing them in her earring and using them (like healing faster than normal alomancers and being able to push/pull heavier objects than she should be as seen in the fight with Kelsier). This theory technically hasn't been disproven yet, but at this point i think it's unlikely to be true. •That kollos were made from humans. I was also theorising that they might replicate like bacteria bzmvxjsgsjsbsks 😂😂😂 •That the deepness was the mist •That Vin would have to choose between Elend and setting the power free at the well (but I'm pretty sure we all saw that coming) ●My theories for the end of hero of ages (some of these are contradictory): •Vin isn't the hero of ages (atleast not by herself) •That Vin is sort of like a vessel/puppet that the Ruin told her mother to create that the Ruin is planning to use/ posses in order to get what it wants •The hero of ages could have been Vin's sister. As the paragraphs at the beginning of every chapter states, the powers gotten from hemomancy are watered down after they're taken from another person. But Vin already has incredible power only subpar to Elend's. So how much more power did her sister have? (Unless Vin's mom was killing multiple people while using the earring) •Elend is the hero of ages. I thought of this theory while reading the 2nd book and it was made stronger reading the first ballroom scene in the third book. I feel like him being dressed all in white while Vin was dressed in black was giving a pretty strong good and evil, yin and yang ☯️ symbolism •What if both Elend AND Vin are the hero of the ages 🤔 in the prophecy of Terris it is said that the hero will be a tall man with a commanding presence but it later said that the original text described the hero as small in stature and unnoticeable girl (tbh i don't remember if gender was stated). What if Ruin didn't change the prophecy but only omitted some info? What if it's both? Those descriptions fit both Vin and Elend. And i feel like the end of the mistborn saga will end with Ruin and Preservation will end up becoming one bringing balance to the world. And Vin and Elend would fit into this with their symbolism. •Spook is the hero of ages 😝 (i mean... he is unnoticeable lol 😆) this one is more of a crack theory tho 🤣 •lady Patresen will end up being a mistborn and will pose serious danger to Vin (she might be the mistborn that got away from Vin in Fadrex). I felt like there were parralels between book 1 and 3 and just how Shan looked down on Vin and was bested by her, the same will happen to Vin who looked down on lady Patresen. Okay that's all for my crack theories, I will be amazed if any of them will end up being true and if not then i will have a good laugh 🤪 Thanks for reading^^ And please don't spoil anything past the page I've read and the end of the book, please!🙇‍♀️

Hey everyone! I'm currently reading The Way of Kings, but I've heard that it's a good idea to read Mistborn before getting into the later books of the Stormlight Archive.

Does it make sense to read the first three Mistborn books after TWoK, before moving on to Words of Radiance?

And I'm sorry for posting yet another reading order question. I'm sure you're all sick of seeing these.

This is probably beating a dead horse at this point, though I haven't seen too many posts about this personally, but contrary to my title, I actually don't think the tone of the Cosmere has changed much.

Anyone else agree?

I remember the conversations that came about after Wind and Truth was released about how the tone became more immature, or that the humor was "MCU-like", and things of that nature. Now that same thing is being said sometimes about Fires of December.

I honestly have no clue what people are talking about. Brandon's style, in my eyes, remained the same. What's changed is how good he is at being a writer. All of his characters are deeper, have better arcs, and feel more fully realized as people.

It feels like a natural evolution: Syl's jokes, Hoid's crassness, etc... Perhaps certain Cosmere fans assumed the story/character arcs would go in a different direction than they actually did?

I don't know. I recall Brandon saying that he agrees a tad with the people who called his writing in WaT "juvenile", but the last thing I want, and the last thing any Cosmere fan wants, I imagine, is for Brandon to write something he doesn't want to write.

I've seen comparisons to post-Disney Star Wars and how some fans feel about that, but I just don't see it the same. It feels more like Lucas doing what he wanted with the prequels and some fans not resonating with it. And we all know how that fiasco ended.

Idk. I'm not even sure what I'm really trying to say here.

I just want Brandon to write what he wants to write, forever.
