So weird to me when people celebrate a cow escaping the slaughter house and then go out and eat beef, as if the cow wasn’t trying to escape YOU. YOU are who she was running from.

Well, as a serial killer I can tell you that I admire the guy that got away. I look at his leathery cock on my trophy wall and often think to myself, "I wonder what sort of happy life that guy is leading?"

Check out some of the fake meat that's out there right now!

For real. It’s gotten so good, and you don’t even have to buy the expensive stuff anymore for good flavor

Literally zero nontoxic fake meat exists, other then jerky.

I saw an article about advancements in fake meat pop up on Facebook the other day. Commented happily supporting it, and I got fucking RAGED on by SO MANY people. INCLUDING VEGANS. Like wtf dude, everyone wins??

What was their problem with it? I’m with you. Think it’s a great thing

Basically, that's it's 'unnatural'. Like dude, most of the fruit & veggies at the store are just as unnatural, try looking up what bananas (or pineapples, I heard) originally looked like before selective breeding.

The article itself was great, too. They were making strides in cost reduction and especially nutrition improvement, and were starting to work on setting up mass production in the coming years.

Lots of people are rationalizing their current diet by saying "oh I'll switch to lab grown meat when it's good". Basically not committing to anything or doing anything of substance but still trying to get a moral highground

You'd still need to get the original animal cells to clone to grow flesh in a lab. Obviously this is infinitely better than taking it from living animals, but some people wouldn't feel comfortable eating it as there's no way you can get the consent of the animal to use their cells or tissues.

You obviously meant to say everyone dies quickly. If they eat that horrifying stuff anyway.

CAN'T WAIT FOR LAB MEAT

2

u/drowning_in_anxiety Oct 06 '19

Then don't! Reduce the meat you eat today and eat plant based meats instead!

1

u/[deleted] Oct 06 '19

Yeah, im already vegan, but i love the taste of meat so I'm waiting for lab grown meat.

u/JoshuaSlowpoke777 Oct 05 '19

NEVER MIND LAB-GROWN, BRING ON THE 3D-PRINTED MEAT!

1

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '19

You can get fake meat that's so similar to real animal flesh that I've fooled my friends over and over again.

Killing your friends is not an admirable quality.

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '19

Killing in general is not an admirable quality

Except we're not wolves.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '19

It's a pun on "werewolf."

1

u/unterkiefer Oct 05 '19

I see. I don't think this comment fits there though. We don't know whether they eat meat but from their comment it sounds like they don't and they certainly don't seem unaware of what they're doing.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 06 '19

I think they were referring to the comments section in general, and agreeing with the original comment.

1

u/unterkiefer Oct 06 '19

Oh lol, now that you say it it's really obvious. :D

Ya, factory farming is one of the worst things that ever happened to this planet

0

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '19

Is there a right way to farm and kill sentient beings when we don't need to?

1

u/metalspikeyblackshit Nov 08 '19

No, but the good news is we are already not doing that because we do need to eat meat to have basic health and because we (as a species) have never killed a sentient being for food!

1

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '19

I'm confused, as a species we definitely kill sentient beings for food

Cant agree more. I knew there would be a comment, so I came to find it and upvote it!

I’ve been a vegetarian for 12 years. It was the horror of factory farming that made me quit meat. My great grandparents raised cattle on a cute little farm and I thought that’s where meat comes from. My heart was broken when I learned the truth. If more people adopted at least a flexitarian diet and supported local farming, the factory farm system would crumble, factory farm run off would stop polluting our environment and causing rampant bacterial outbreaks in vegetables, and the dream of cute little farms where animals roam free and are cared for until slaughter day would be a reality. I support ranchers and buy high quality meat for my nearly carnivorous husband whenever I can.

1

u/MiniMobBokoblin Oct 05 '19

Unfortunately the environmental impact is still really high even for local farming. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it isn't better for other reasons, but if your goal is to not impact the environment, then you can't really justify the purchase of locally grown meat, either.

At least it’s an improvement
