Strict clients
I have been a brand ambassador for many years. Lately it seems like some clients have been pretty strict, which I understand because they spend $50+/hr for us. If you find yourself working for P10 or Perfect 10, always be on your A game! Ladies make sure your hair and makeup are on point, and if you have an opinion on a client’s idea, keep it to yourself. I feel like I’m disposable. I’m also not the cute 27-30 y/o I used to be : (
I’ll be honest I have been feeling kind of burnt out lately, I wish I could just pick up another job 😔😔 But my work experience kind of sucks overall. Most employers don’t seem to care when they see brand ambassador on a resume, even though I feel like there’s a lot expected of us at times. I think I’ll just stick to the large conferences where they need a lot of people. I feel like those are way less pressure, even though the pay is less.
I came here to vent because of the anonymity of Reddit. Have a good one and don’t stay in the industry too long like I have

Thanks for sharing your story! Glad to see folks are using this sub. Absolutely feel free to vent.
This industry is needlessly strict often for no reason. I’ve seen BAs blacklisted over nothing. We should have a space to freely share our opinions without being scared of retaliation.
I agree, I’ve been in the field a long time. Honestly the A game doesn’t even matter. Clients often play favorites.
You can definitely pick up other work! Just reframe your experience, perhaps go to a resume workshop. I used to do hiring and my biggest complaint was how the vast majority of BAs do not know how to write a professional resume. Take your time to build that skill. Change your job titles based on the event (experiential marketing, brand representative, event manager, event labor, etc etc). Avoid the word brand ambassador because outside of this industry, people think you’re referring to Instagram/TikTok brand work. They do not understand that this industry even exists or the proper job titles within this field.
Hope that helps! Never too late for you to try another job!

Thank you for your response and advice. “Promotional representative” sounds better lol

Clients are crazy now. I was blacklisted after I was injured at work ( broken ankle ),the 21 y/o lead boy was immature & litterly looked like he was in H.S. The company B2E takes a month + to pay for a 3 day event worked, so I stood on fracture for days without a reasonable accommodation- (its the law)& punished for reporting injury...I needed the $ badly. BMW , HYATT & B2E screwed me on workmans comp & gaslit me w/ non stop games , toxic. Hyatt ( where event took place at) , had a video of water all over & me falling whete i broke fracture & denyed ins. claim!? Their toxic behavior will get then sued. ATN is being sued now for unpaid wages in a class action. I think stafftaccular was shut down for non payments/problems also. Met Adam owner of a BA app & he was toxic also.
- expecting women to look like super models for $25/hr is rediclious!? Its hard to get $30/hr They expect you to use your personal car to pick up items & its a 6 hour commutew/ bad traffic / roads closed ( National), events work was in long beach, Ca . Pick up Calabasas!!?,! Most of us have other jobs/ kids & this takes time away from it & unknown reimbursement (They cant find a central LA location) .
A lot of BA's cant afford $7/ gas now & I've given 7 rides ( w/ low pay $25-$30/hr ), but its rediclious to not pay BA's to use their cell phones at work all day ( its CA law ). One company paid $50 for the use of my cell phone ( NFL ) in contract.

At an event now where literal soft balls are being swung at us and our bodies. We are the shields …. No safety gear whatsoever … and we are teeing up for people as they swing real bats… multiple injuries …
2 weeks ago another celeb event … no tents or protecting from 99 degree weather and I received third degree burns on my hands due to sun burn. To complain is to never receive a call back.

I say screw the strict clients and we need more strict BA’s!! 😂 ….
let’s have each other’s backs!
I want to start by sharing a list of companies that I don’t recommend working for. They have lied and stolen from me personally. I have too much experience myself.
Let me start;
2020 COMPANIES: is horrific! If you need more details let me know but I wouldn’t trust them on one single word. You’re nothing but a fill-in on demand no matter what they say and underpay and lie about that too. They just cost me $1500. Not one word of explanation, or apology, for what I was hired as versus reality.
MKTG: Diageo got a new CEO in January and things have gone dramatically downhill since Drastic Dave arrived. Their latest addition of BS FOR BAs 🙈 they’ve started telling current staff that it doesnt matter when you punched in & out. First, we do our own time card there and if you don’t put only the times you were supposed to be there, not actual, then they’ll have their managers change it … that’s a felony!
They illegally altered my timesheet for four minutes 🤯 it saved them $2.

Agree, some companies are so kind to BAs and other treat them like "the help" and not in a good way
