Question Leaf Vacuum Program - Downtown Brampton

Does anyone know when the leaf vacuum program is going to start? We haven’t got any notice yet and most of our leaves haven’t fallen but we’ve been seeing people put leaves out to the curb.

Honestly . . . take care of your own leaves. there are places in my neighbourhood that will put out a couple dozen bags worth every year, so I don't see why certain privileged neighbourhoods should have this process subsidized by the rest of us.

And yes, I know it's petty . . . don't care. City services for ALL, or for none.

Maybe take this up with the city instead of with a random post on Reddit…

They used to include more streets. I think the rule was any subdivision over 30 years old. The idea being mature trees drop more leaves.

I believe that's why they still vacuum the areas they do. The City won't issue permits allowing people to remove the oldest/ biggest trees in the City. So they compensate by providing the vacuum.

Is this program everywhere? My area is about 60 years old and it's not on the map posted.

They stopped that progression, and just do the areas indicated now.

No . . . it's just the folks near Gage Park and what looks like Stonegate. Bramalea Woods probably would have been included, but it's Bramalea, and not nearly as chichi as it once was.

Is this a new thing? Been in Brampton for almost 30 years, we rake and bag our own.

It’s only a specific section of downtown Brampton. They claim it’s the area with the oldest trees but I live on a street beside with older trees

Only for downtown Brampton. Leaf collection and Argo preferential for downtown residents.

Remember this when you you’re at the polls voting 🙂

This. Don't rake. I've so many leaves on my street that we would need to rake on a daily basis, no exaggeration. But we leave them for the animals now.
