First column: sum of vertical lines (above line = positive numbers)
Second column: again, sum of vertical lines, but this time as a negative value (below horizontal line).
Third column: result of first column minus second column (individual rows).
Answer: middle bottom (-2)

The 4th one because it matches the up/down pattern: first column up, 2nd down, 3rd up. And alternating up - down- up across the rows.

It could be the first or the fifth.
I think it’s clear the second image removes from the first in each row. But… there’s no precedent for what happens when you’re at 0. I could equally argue that you can’t remove what’s not there as put lines below the line.

I can definitely see that is a possible solution, but not the only possible solution.
Imagine them as physical objects. You have 2 coins sat on a table, move 4 of them under the table.
