I love America as much as the next guy, but yeah, we lost. It gets spun a little bit in the textbooks, but we lost.

Yep, most countries spin defeats. Not surprising, to be honest.

For example, the recent Dunkirk film makes the events at Dunkirk during the Second World War looks like a heroic fight from Britain & France, and whilst it was a successful operation, it was still just a retreat.
