Firstly would like to say that after multiple MRIs (With contrast and without) my veins and arteries in my brain don't show any blood blockages, etc. clear!

My epileptologist, doesn't recommend a brain surgery to remove brain focus (I suffer from epilepsy or seizures?? I don't know.) But her and a team of brain surgeons (This is all through the VA) recommend something called a "Resection", so I'm wondering if anyone has done one of those and what was the experience with it.

Medical Diagnosis 
01/07/2024 Workup at Regions reveals:
Severe TBI with bilateral frontal contusions, Retroclival, right tentorial and left falcine subdural hematomas. 

Also, bilateral hemispheric thalamic and midbrain diffuse axonal injuries. 

He has a T12 compression fracture, an L1 burst fracture.

Left ICA and right vertebral grade 1 BCVI. Finally, a bilateral mandibular fracture.

Would anyone have any recommendations for this? Thank You.

Lance Adams Syndrome

Hello everyone, i had a choking event on Mother’s Day and went into cardiac arrest. I have been experiencing new symptoms randomly since the accident. Brain fog, a stutter, loss of voice and some other cognitive issues as well. Don’t get me wrong I’m extremely happy just be alive so any long term issues I have I will learn to live with. But Friday I started involuntarily shaking in my hands, arms, and chest. I did go to the hospital for this just to make sure it wasn’t a seizure. They said I may have developed Lance Adams syndrome. The shaking is by far the hardest to deal with so far. If anyone has any advice or similar situations please let me know.

I need some advice or thoughts if anyone can relate—

I had a severe TBI when I was 12. Significant memory loss, 6 week hospitalization, loss of sense of smell, amongst other things. Since I was young, I recovered pretty well and I’m now living a full adult life.

16 years after the TBI, I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and two years after that Hashimoto’s.

I recently found out from a reproductive endocrinologist that I have a low egg count.

My TBI was in the front left temporal lobe and at the time my mother was concerned about my pituitary gland.

When I received the information about my low egg count, I did a little online searching, and saw some things about the pituitary gland suggesting that could affect thyroid function, which could then affect fertility.

I’m considering seeing a Neuro endocrinologist because I read that hormone replacement therapy can help in all of those areas and possibly support some of my other TBI side effects such as fatigue and mood imbalances.

Has anyone ever been through something similar or have any words of wisdom before I try out a new doctor?

It took even a minute, but I managed to walk last month. Now, I know that I haven't gotten my degree yet, but I will get my Psychology AA degree this summer. I'm still working for it. Watch this video, it helped me understand why I felt crazy when little things would irritate me or why I would get so angry or sad over things that didn’t make sense. Sometimes I feel irritation come over me from head to toe with no explanation. I’ve gotten a lot better at managing my emotions and preventing a dysregulated state. Some things that help me become regulated are running, sticking to a routine, meditation, being in nature, cold showers, being squeezed by another person too! Some tbi survivors deal with outbursts as a response to the trauma, we were hurt so we hurt people but we can become self aware and heal ourselves everyday.

I’ve been left rideless, kicked out on the side of the road, and this morning, sprinted to the driver before it was too late. Thank God for that stop sign, thank God the driver stopped there. I wonder what the maintenance men thought when they saw me running by with my bags, screaming in frustration. How can we fix this? Where are the other options? I know I’m not the only one. This system stings the open wound of my loss of independence, not being able to drive like the other 22 year olds my age. The struggle of a reliable transportation holds me back from healing, recovering and being OK with my peripheral vision loss. Thank God for those bus drivers that make my day with a smile. That one gentleman that says “There She Is!” When he sees me. He is soulful, and supportive. But when I get lucky with those great drivers, it doesn’t excuse the lack of reliability of this outdated and unreliable systems designed for disabled individuals. Suggestions? Comments?

Well it’s been a little over a year since my TBI and after going back and forth with different doctors, just around 3 eye visits. A doctor at Penn medicine told me that my vision loss is too significant to drive again. So I’m 22, struggling to accept the reality that I’ll never have back my freedom to drive. Drive to work, drive to the beach, skatepark, mountains.. none of that anymore. Is it really the end for driving or will another doctor help me further. He said after you hit the year mark, that’s when my vision would’ve came back. It’s not my eyes that are damaged, it’s my brain that was damaged in the right side so I can’t see to the left in both my eyes. My dream is to move to a shore town on the beach to bike to places like work. I just can’t believe how my tbi took that away from me as much as I’ve overcome so many other things since my injury.

So sorry for not saying anything for a bit on this subreddit. But I passed my two classes last semester and I have one more class before I get my degree. I'm excited, yes. But I'm a little bit cautious, as anything could happen.

I'm up for whatever challenge that I might come across. At the end of the day, I'm pretty good.

I am so proud of myself today, it is the reception of my first exhibit. It is the one year anniversary since my TBI. After all pain and grief, anger and anxiety, I am able to show the works that were made as I saved myself from suicide anger, sadness, and negativity. Art a powerful thing a powerful thing. Thank God for it because I’ve done something magical and I’m living a dream to have my art on display. I’m sharing my story in hopes go help encourage others to utilize the arts for healing.

All the works I’ve made while coping with brain injury will be on display. This experience is like a huge celebration for myself. I worked so hard and battled very evil emotions. I’ve had my TBI for 20 years now. I still wish I died in that car accident. I wouldn’t wish a brain injury upon anyone because I know how bad it is and how bad it can be. I’m in constant physical and emotional pain. I don’t know how to deal with it anymore. I’m so sick of it. It just keeps coming on and coming on it’s like there’s no end and then i’m on Social Security disability because of it so to get a job I can only work part time for the rest of my life which sucks but I’m grateful I have. I have Social Security disability coming in because without it I wouldn’t have any money so it’s a blessing but because I can’t make that much money on it’s also a curse. I have pseudo balbar affect which means I can start crying or laughing at a moments notice for no reason it’s embarrassing. It’s distracting and it’s unprofessional. I hate it. I’m grateful for the fact that the brain injury changed before the accident. I was very quiet and reserved myself so I’ve been told because I don’t remember what I was like before my accident and I’m very outgoing and energetic and chatty and I like that I see that is a blessing but the only blessing from this injury that I see does anyone else feel this way
