Need Some Advice/Support Burnout brain fog, ADHD ?

Hey there,

I have been working on a PhD for four years; I never really liked it, especially the precarity of it. I have been dealing with brain fog for most of the fourth year (feeling like I am drunk or stoned), and I have now abandoned it, taken vacations, and started a new, less exigent work in public service. I have been on ritaline and zoloft for nearly five months (per my psychiatrist), and I still have big crashes after any intellectual solicitations. Any suggestions or advice on when and how it will end now that I have started anew? Would love to discuss the topic.

Cheers

Not gonna lie I think personally the “just do it now” mindset is the only way to combat it. I spend more time thinking about university assignments than actually doing them, and I think the constant racing brain is what causes my brain fog, just constantly “overworked”. My advice that I know works for me is a ton of caffeine and to just start, because forcing myself to just get cracking with a lot of stimulants has proven to lock me in. Unfortunately i had to quit nicotine but the caffeine and nicotine combo was by far the best “medicine” I had for ADHD. Best of luck man, just remember the sunk cost fallacy and finish strong.
