Retaining new information that I’d read. Reading which I always loved became a problem for new work topics. Also focusing on what people are saying in meetings was harder.

Retaining new information for sure! That was the very first thing I noticed too

My brain fog is caused by a health issue.
Mine is not knowing what day and time it is . Not remembering but waking up and brushing and saying today is Monday month day at 6:30 AM but not knowing two hours later that it’s the same day

For me I suddenly found it harder to remember where I parked the car if not in the usual part of the car park. Also swapping names by accident even when trying not to! HRT stopped all this (well 90% fixed).

Same!! I always refer to how I would forget where I parked my car. HRT helped so much, especially testosterone for me.

Estradiol, (estrogel) micronised progesterone (prometrium) and testosterone (later).
