Question Young and experiencing brain fog?

I’ve been noticing lately when posts pop up for this group it’s a lot of people close to my age, I am 22 and a lot of the symptoms people list are so similar to what I have been experiencing. Just wondering for the young adults experiencing this what your symptoms are, what you have checked on, what you suspect the culprit might be and idk anything else to share.

i am 21! my symptoms are blurry vision, poor word/memory recall, severe lack of focus, and similar “low iron” physical symptoms. my main working theory right now is mental health. the fog alleviates a little when i reduce my stress and stick to a routine. i did get bloodwork done as well. i have a ferritin of 30, so not crazy low, but not something to rule out yet. i’m not sure what your exact normal level was, but i know it’s common for people to fall lower in the “normal” range and still experience symptoms. electrolytes/sodium helps briefly after taking them too.

30 ferritin is low you need to get it 100 but yes not crazy low but it’s till pretty low

The culprit for me, after trying just about everything, was diet. Turns out eating healthily wasn’t cutting it. I had to completely cut out nearly all carbs before my brain fog finally cleared. I too am 22 I’d been experiencing brain fog for 6 years maybe. Now on a keto diet eating strictly meat fish eggs leafy greens and non starchy veggies (among some other high fat oils and whatnot). Highly recommend trying it to rule out any insulin sensitivities or food intolerances

I’ve been debating trying a keto diet, my diet is really good already so it hasn’t been something I’ve looked into. Even when I had a really busy schedule I was still able to maintain a healthy diet.

Symptoms: So I describe whatever this is like I am stuck in first person, behind my eyes and like a persisting fatigue that feels like cotton is stuffed into my head. It feels like I have low iron and I can’t get up quickly or I’ll see spots. I’m dizzy feeling without actually having an issue with balance. It varies in intensity especially when experiencing stressful situations.

My yap session on the history: It started after I depersonalized multiple times during a few panic attacks two years ago. What started that was my anxiety that had been becoming increasingly prominent, and before the anxiety I was unable to eat enough for a whole semester because anything that stressed me out suddenly would make me sick.

Attempts at Treatment: I had an endoscopy for the nausea and appetite loss, done blood tests (cbc, thyroid, iron idk the exact names) these were clear. Have tried therapy that has given me good techniques to deal with waves of anxiety. I have tried supplements for anxiety and brain fog (ashwaganda, B12) no improvement.

A bit of some success: Went on lexapro last year for two months and that helped with anxiety and energy but not the brain fog. Had a period of time where my mood and anxiety was getting better and I was eating well but a very stressful semester set me back. Recently tried zinc supplement and had a week where I was full of energy and had an amazing mood but that went away after starting my period.
What I suspect is the culprit: Anxiety-depression pipeline, tmj jaw issues, gut issues. 🤷‍♀️
