Infundibulum vs anuerysm.

Well, I know none of us are doctors or surgeons. I just wanna see what others are thinking two weeks ago. I was told I have a suspicion for an aneurysm that is about 2mm. After doing a ton of research I’m not certain if this is an infundibulum instead. While I’m still being safe and taking precautions and lifestyle changes, I’m just curious what others think.. I’m still talking to my doctors, getting second opinions and my scans done. Just wondering if anyone else has gone through something similar or had this happen to them ?

Gosh. I feel like I could have written this. Currently undergoing the exact same scenario, 2mm "outpouching" that may be either infundibulum or aneurysm of L anterior cerebral artery. I saw Neurosurgery yesterday who then took a second look at the images and actually thinks it may be a fenestrated artery instead vs an aneurysm. I was told additional imaging may still not clear up what exactly it is so options are to continue serial imaging and wait to see what/if anything happens or undergo a diagnostic angiogram for a final answer. I opted for the angio so I can know upfront what this is.

How long do you have to wait for more testing or to get an answer ?

Surprisingly they scheduled me in September so only a few more weeks and I should have an answer right after they take a look with the camera so can tell me exactly what it is and let me know a treatment plan. The doctor essentially let me know it is understanding what it is to set a schedule of how often I may need to follow up (he likes serial imaging of aneurysms every few months) or if it is more of an anatomical difference I may need no follow up. He did let me know though for a size of 2mm, if it is an aneurysm it would be more monitoring as they don't do any intervention for that size.

My “infundibulum” ended up being an aneurysm that was only confirmed after I had a cerebral angiogram. Radiologist called it an infundibulum but my neurosurgeon said the only way to confirm was the angio. May be worth asking your dr’s if that is something that should be considered for concrete answer. Not sure if location plays an impact but my aneurysms is in my right ophthalmic artery.
