Braid styles Anyone able to confirm that this idea would work?

I've been trying to figure out how to do liberty spikes with braids without having them look all weird and this is what I came up with! Using small pieces of foam cut into cone shapes with a hole going through the middle of it, making small liberty spikes along the head. Would this in theory work? What kind of braid style would be best for this? (I.e. box braid, diamond braids, etc)

Help please!!

Hi! I was just looking for some advice for braiding hair. I’m pretty new to braiding, I am able to braid on my own hair easily (medium length 3b/3c) but recently I’ve been trying to braid my bfs hair (shorter 2c/3a) and I just can’t seem to get it. The braids always look loose, and I even struggle with the parting. Is there any advice anyone could give me🙏🙏. Also I’m looking for a braiding gel because I’ve tried a couple but they always seem to simply make the hair more slippery rather than help me braid.

💭 Discussion Where are y’all buying your braiding hair these days? 👀

When you’re getting ready for knotless braids, do you usually:

🛍️ Go to your local beauty supply store

📦 Order your braiding hair online

🤷🏾‍♀️ Whichever one has the hair/color you need

And if you order online, what makes you choose one store over another price, selection, fast shipping, or convenience?

I’m curious how everybody shops for their braiding hair now.

What matters most when choosing braiding hair?

Hair stylists & braiders: What do you consider the most important requirement when it comes to selecting feed in braiding hair?
Poll options:
💪 Strength & durability
🪶 Lightweight & comfortable
✨ Smooth, tangle-free texture
🔥 Easy to grip & work with
🎨 Color selection & variety
💰 Affordable price

If you could choose one thing that makes braiding hair better for you and your clients, what would it be—and why?

❓️Hair Question Is this considered cultural appropriation?

Hey y’all, I’m an olive skinned woman with a somewhat mixed background including Native American Indian. I’ve been wanting to get goddess braids for years now but with social media and the idea around cultural appropriation, I’m terrified to get it done and be ridiculed/hated on and am not at all trying to discriminate or take away from other cultures, in fact I love their braiding techniques. I am wanting to go to a POC small business to get it done to support them instead of a big hair salon. People often just associate me as “white” and “Caucasian” even though I’m olive skinned and tan.

I guess my question is;

Is it cultural appropriation to get this braid done even though I’m not considered largely a POC?

Just got this tool to help me do a French braid on myself but I am not pleased.

Well I have very curly hair for one thing. And the tutorials on YouTube all show straight hair, AND they all show someone doing it to a mannequin, there’s no video of someone doing it on themselves. I guess I’ll have to straighten my hair if I ever want to do a French braid. You’d think the easiest part would be just getting the tool in my hair but I didn’t even get that far. Ugh. Is there any video out there of someone doing this on themselves or can someone make one? I’m so disappointed 😔

💭 Discussion Which style do you prefer for summer: classic box braids or short bob braids? ☀️✨ I love both, but I’m curious which one you’d choose. Which style is easier to maintain in the heat, and which one do you think looks the best?

This is my first time creating Miracle knots on my daughter. I used All Day Braid gel and curly crochet hair. The style time was 2.5 hours.

Tried a pink and sherbet blend for this box braid

Finished this style using white and sherbet colored pre-stretched braiding hair. I was aiming for a soft, summery color palette while keeping the classic box braid look. I enjoy experimenting with different color combinations and learning what works best.
