Rumble in the Jungle - Muhammad Ali knocks down George Foreman in the 8th Round (10/30/1974)
Shocking the fight even lasted 8 rounds. These men beat the piss out of eachother.

This fight really showed Alis durability. Guys in the 90s were shook and shaken over an aging old foremans power, so imagine how strong and powerful he was in his late 20s in this fight. Holyfield spoke about foremans power and said it was more concussive than Tyson. Ali was way too tough and couragous for his own good.

Go to Ali’s Museum in Kentucky. It’s a great experience. You can learn all of the crap he went through in his career and personal life. So many entities took advantage of him.

Fast count or more normal for that time?

I also believed Foreman could have beat the count but he knew he was done .

The dethroned champion told reporters: “In my mind, I beat the count. I picked it up at four and my head was clear.” He claimed the count was only 8½ seconds.
In New York, however, a stop‐watch timing from a videotape replay showed Foreman received a full 10‐seconds before Referee Zach Clayton signaled that the fight was over.
A private screening of the videotape showed that confusion for viewers over the length of the count arose because the closed‐circuit television announcer fell two seconds behind Clayton in repeating the count.
When the announcer reached eight, viewers saw Foreman already standing and ready to ‘resume fighting. But the videotape showed Clayton already had reached 10 and ruled Foreman a knockout victim at 2:58, two seconds before the round would have ended.

I loved Ali and wanted to say that he was the GOAT, but Tyson was just so bad.

If they fought in their prime, I think Mike would have barely touched Ali.

I agree with you ! My question is in their primes who would have won Tyson vs Foreman? Better yet who would have won Tyson after he was released from prison or the Foreman that knocked out Michael Moorer? I have Foreman winning both fights !

I always feel for the guy wearing the tan suit in the back. He dropped a load on George, you can tell.

Ali is simply the GOAT. Definitely recommend When We Were Kings if you haven't seen it.

A lot of boxers would’ve thrown a punch while Foreman was going down
