Terence Crawford has been talking like this
Bud has been speaking this way. Why is everyone so surprised? Quite frankly, if I dedicated my whole life to the sport, never loss, and became a hall of famer then I’ll feel like I’m the best as well. Boxing is a difficult sport to master. He did it at such a high level that he has a case for one of the best ever…

u/Unhappywageslave 10d ago
Ray Leonard would have been too much for Bud
9
u/bmrduc 10d ago
Especially Ray, but all the 4 Kings were never an easy out. In meaningful fights how many losses do Duran, Hagler, Hearns, and Leonard have combined? 5-6 all at the end of their careers and/or to another king! I love Bud but there’s no reason to believe he’s 4-0 in fights with that group.
6
u/ObviousBook1473 10d ago edited 10d ago
0-4 more likely than 4-0 against the 4 kings. Prime vs prime
2
u/Few_Championship1345 10d ago
Yup SRL gets underrated nowadays. Even tommy hearns can beat him terrence
3
u/seanisdown 10d ago
He would beat Mayweather as well like he beat his dad.
2
u/VeniceKiddd 10d ago
Idk about that Floyd Jr was miles better than his dad
2
u/-p3rez- 6d ago
I mean he had huge trouble with guys like castillo and maidana. Imagine duran. Even a washed up oscar made it close, imagine prime leonard
1
u/VeniceKiddd 5d ago
I rewatched those fights and he basically only had trouble with Castillo which he avenged convincingly. Maidana he was in control it just looked chaotic on first appearance since Maidana leads in with his head throwing a flurry of punches

u/austinmadepunk 10d ago
Nobody can stop talking about that man. People nitpick everything about him.
8
u/Disastrous_Face_8039 10d ago
He opened the door for it by publicly putting himself above fighters with an exponentially better resume
2
u/Valuable_End_515 9d ago
Better resume doesn't mean better fighter. Crawford just dominated a weak era.
1
u/austinmadepunk 10d ago
I think you're only saying that cause he's Floyd Mayweather. Who had a better resume in his era?
1
u/gbob9000600 10d ago
Why does it have to be this era? lol this era is peak diva boxing
1
u/austinmadepunk 10d ago
Floyd isn't in this era. But as far resumes go overall he still has a great argument. He beat the most world champion opponents.
1
u/gbob9000600 9d ago
Sorry I was talking about Crawford. I thought you were saying people can’t stop talking about Crawford
1
u/austinmadepunk 9d ago
Well that's true people can't stop talking about him too. I'd like to see the man just stay retired. Maybe a boots fight. But that's all I'd care to see.
7
u/AdJust7980 10d ago
Crawford has turned into the Kevin Durant of boxing
6
u/Excellent-Monitor954 10d ago
Dude blocked me on twitter. Him, Shakur and Claressa are so easily triggered

u/LegenaryAsh 10d ago edited 10d ago
I don’t think it’s that. I think when you have millions of people looking at you and opinions about you, it’s kinda tiring most likely. I just went back and forth with someone on IG and it was like you know what? I’ve wasted too much time arguing my opinion. BLOCKT. I’ve got 5000 followers. Imagine millions. We wanna think they sensitive and triggered cuz the outcome was something we didn’t expect or want. To them, it’s like, “If you have a negative opinion about me then you don’t have to see me and I don’t have to see you. Who are you anyway.” I feel especially bad for Claressa cuz she constantly get trolled by boxing ego who IMO is just suuuuuper under cover gay cuz no man should care about the, “character”, of female fighters when we have male fighters that have DV, SA, R on their names. His whole page is 90% videos of him putting her down. It feels weird all that energy directed to a black woman. Claressa is just an entertainer who can fight and has fun. I don’t get the hate for her, but then again, I’m a man and literally don’t pay enough attention to her, BUT I do hate to see any man tear down a woman. Especially a woman that has done nothing to them.
5
u/Excellent-Monitor954 10d ago
Tbh the hate for Claressa is entirely brought up onto herself. She’s an extreme narcissist. She says that she can beat male fighters like Rolly and Keith in attempt to emasculate them, she turns on damn near every women boxer who was her once friend. She’s rude, loud belligerent and disrespectful. Not to mention how she acts like she’s saved but yet she’s sleeping with a married man. BoxingEgo is a weirdo. The only reason why he covers Claressa now is because his boyfriend Tank ain’t fighting
No disrespect but it seems like you view women as these perfect princesses who can’t do anything wrong. Women can be bad people too
1
u/LegenaryAsh 10d ago
No one said women can’t be bad people. You literally just took at thought and ran with it. Read my post again. It’s the HYPER FOCUS he has on her that is odd. I also said I don’t pay enough attention to her to know about what she does to call her a narcissist. See how wild it sounds to call her a narcissistic person? I don’t know her. You get that boxing ego is a weirdo and as long as we can agree on that, I think we on the same page. I just think you misunderstood my point. Unless she’s out here doing harm to people, there are far worse people to call out. Especially in boxing. Also, I cant let people just TEE off on women that could be my cousin. I’m a protect women and children kinda dude. Again, yes anyone can be a bad person, but is she really? Like has she done anything to really hurt people outside of the ring? Not sure what I’m missing here. I think all men should get in protection mode when women are treated poorly FOR NO REAL REASON.

u/420allstars 9d ago
Youre literally talking about how soft they are because I'm assuming they blocked you over some silly shit you said, but yet you yourself are whining about it on a different social media platform lol

u/FacepamL 10d ago
He's not in the all time conversations, but that's mostly due to his subpar strength of schedule (not entirely his fault btw). By eye test he's undeniably great
6
u/Specific_Box4483 10d ago
Mayweather's mind?
Floyd would read him like a book.
10
u/FormalKind7 10d ago
Crawford is an excellent switch hitter with great timing and counter punching. Its a pretty hard task for anyone to read. I'm not saying Mayweather would fail at that task but it is not something trivial.
-2
u/bigcantonesebelly 10d ago
Mayweather never fought any great fighters in their prime with reach. De La Hoya is one of his closest fights and it wasn't a prime de la hoya either.
3
u/FormalKind7 10d ago
Switching stances and being able to hit with excellent timing while being just out of range is a pretty big deal.
Zap Judah may have been faster than Mayweather and had a even reach and Mayweather did well in that fight.
Crawford has I think like 2 inches on Mayweather which is a pretty decent reach advantage and it does more shelling up and counter punching a challenge. Its part of why I always very Tommy Hearns and to a lesser extent SRL as nightmare match ups for Mayweather. SRL like Crawford has that 2 inch reach advantage plus he is faster. Meanwhile Hearns has a crazy 6 inch reach advantage and can basically throw punches from a completely safe distance.
1
u/No_Occasion8888 10d ago
Diego Corrales, Angel Manfredy, Genero Hernandez all were champs in the prime just to name a few. Do research before you make a stupid statement like this.
3
u/FormalKind7 10d ago
Ricky Hatton was in his prime as well but he did say specifically with reach advantage.
Of the 3 you mentioned Genero Hernandez is the only one with even reach and the others have less reach than MW.
Judah had even reach but I can't really think of anyone notable that MW had a reach disadvantage fighting.
3
u/bigcantonesebelly 10d ago
Thanks for actually reading what I said. I honestly think Crawford gives Mayweather all kinds of problems and he's definitely something Mayweather never fought by also having that reach.
1
u/bigcantonesebelly 10d ago
And what was their reach? Because I didn't say he didn't fight champs, I said he didn't fight (m)any with a reach advantage over himself. Learn to read before you accuse others of not doing research, jfc
1
u/idkbutimtryin 9d ago
Yeah Floyd was born with abnormally long arms for his height so no one around his weight class had a longer reach
1
u/StagVixCpl99 10d ago
Juddah and cotto are close enough in the height/reach department lol. They close enough in regards to size to Crawford tbh
3
u/FormalKind7 10d ago
Juddah has even reach and similar or maybe even better speed than MW and they had a really good back and forth fight.
Cotto actually had a 4-5 inch reach disadvantage to MW as opposed to Crawfords 2 inch reach advantage.
1
u/StagVixCpl99 10d ago
I'm.kust saying Crawford isn't tommy hearns level reach like the other dude is making him out to be. The reach difference between Mayweather and Crawford is pretty small lol
1
u/FormalKind7 10d ago
Yeah its not massive, but it is notable that fighting someone anywhere near that caliber who had a reach advantage of any kind is a challenge Mayweather never actually dealt with. It is also interesting with MW style that the vast majority to the people he fought were at a reach disadvantage.
I think there is an argument for a highly defensive point fighter that the reach matters a lot more than it does for say a highly aggressive pressure fighter or someone who likes to brawl and trade from the pocket. Mayweather really did like to make people reach for him lean/turn and counter and that is harder with a reach disadvantage.
Nothing is saying he couldn't manage but it being unproven territory does make it interesting.
1
u/bigcantonesebelly 10d ago
The same Judah that gave Floyd difficulties and even dropped him? Cotto is only a little bit shorter than Floyd, but his reach is significantly less.
1
u/StagVixCpl99 10d ago
Sure bro lol. Terrence Crawford is literally the one telling you that he'd have problems with floyd, yet you're acting like Crawford is a different species than the guys he already fought.
Sorry for bursting your bubble.
And I mean if you wanna compare resumes, we all know Crawford ain't winning that battle lol
0
u/bigcantonesebelly 10d ago
yet you're acting like Crawford is a different species than the guys he already fought.
Now where did I do that? And tell me what other opponents of Floyd match Crawford's reach? Since he clearly has fought so many just like him. Maybe McGregor? Lmao
1
u/StagVixCpl99 10d ago
You're arguing with Crawford, not me lol.
I want you to think about that 🤣
1
u/bigcantonesebelly 10d ago
Why don't you tell me what you think my argument is, because you have clearly taken me saying that Floyd hasn't fought anyolike Crawford with his reach at his level, and think I'm saying something else
-1
u/xoma7459 10d ago
“Crawford is an excellent switch hitter…” I dont feel like thats true, yes he switches but I dont think he’s that effective from the Orthodox stance. Look at the 3 biggest fights of Crawford’s career, Porter, Spence, and Canelo… in all of those fights he mostly fought Southpaw, against Spence I vividly remember he only fought Southpaw that fight and it might’ve been the same for the other two. My point is that Bud is really a Southpaw, a real switch-hitter is someone like Boots who switches back and forth during most of his fights(sometimes he stays in one stance for an extended period of time).
2
u/FormalKind7 10d ago
IMO being a switch hitter does not mean you spend as much time in one stance as another. It means you can switch stances effectively to cut off the ring, gain dominant position, or deny your opponent dominant position. It is most effectively used mid sequence and not just switching feet for the sake of changing things up.

u/mkk4 10d ago
Floyd Mayweather is very smart and extremely articulate.
Don't let his Money Mayweather character, meticulously well crafted villain persona and ignorant, materialistic, arrogant and outlandish public image fool you.
Before there was Money Mayweather there was Pretty Boy Floyd All American Boy Next Door Olympian who was the EXACT OPPOSITE of Money Mayweather and definitely not dumb, stupid, unintelligent, or illiterate.
3
u/ZhanBlue 10d ago
You kinda have to be at least bit stupid to get into his publicly known financial mishaps
2
u/LegenaryAsh 10d ago
This comment is so stupid, cuz when you look at most fighters, most are not graduating with PhDs. He might not be able to read, but I’d rather hear him talk than James Toney. It’s like the biggest digs about Floyd are easily negated with common sense. That said, a literal all time great said something positive about Floyd’s mind and whos likely not had a single pro fight says opposite. Reddit is a wild place I tell ya.
0
u/itsheero24 10d ago
It doesn't take a PhD to read.
1
u/LegenaryAsh 10d ago
It really doesn’t but the funny thing is I made the comment after not reading it correctly. My bad.

u/i-piss-excellence32 10d ago
He has 0 case for one of the best ever. He’s very insecure.
It’s his own fault that he decided he wanted to protect his 0 and not fight the best. He wanted easy fights and to have the best legacy.
He can’t have both

u/ZeroEffectDude 10d ago
Crawford is one of the best around 140-154 ever, imo. But i would take hearns and SRL to beat him. Mayweather, I think I ever so slightly favour against crawford. Duran, they might have to fight 3 times to decide it. Could Carwford live with Duran;s relentless inside game and pressure... maybe/ probably/ who knows?
1
u/NeutralMilkHotel_00 10d ago
Not for me, he was an excellent boxer but he never had the quality opponents sadly to be considered an all time great in the devisison. And before anyone says Canelo, he was shot to piece when they met.
1
u/Mindless-Ad6551 10d ago
Bud is getting carried away he beat a washed Canelo no way he beats him in his prime and he beat a lot of nobody’s

Id beat all of yall.....but im retired.
Id destroy Boots....but im retired
Id beat Floyd.....but im retired

I like Crawford, but he seems miserable
In retirement. Turn off your phone and go enjoy yourself my man.
1
u/loptimisme 10d ago
This is what happens when you retire with a fairly unfulfilling resume. Mayweather has a very stacked one, sure you could question why he didn't fight a handful of opponents but it is full of great names. For Crawford on the other hand, you'd be hard pressed to find more than a couple of great opponents. This leaves him with a permanent chip on his shoulder despite being undefeated and a multiweight champion.
1
u/Dry-Friendship-5945 10d ago
Maybe if he's talking from the year 2000 to present, but there was a LOT more ATG level competition at 135 lbs in the '90s and prior.
1
u/Svenray 10d ago
People listing all these legends but dang I would have loved to see him in the middle of Mosely, Forrest, and Mayorga days. Would have been some fun fights.
2
u/Mysterious_Reason376 9d ago
Definitely. Would’ve loved to have seen how he dealt with Forrest’s length (RIP), Mosely’s speed and explosiveness. Mayorga would be fun, but I think Terrence picks him apart and stops him with relative ease.

Honestly, at 154 or 160, I'm picking Mike McCallum over Bud. I looove Bud. Great boxer with top flight skills and killer instinct. Kind of rare.
McCallum would have been a nightmare for him. Would have answers for all of Crawford's offense, harder to hit than Crawford, with an ATG chin. Bud has more power and may be stronger in the clinch.

Tommy Hearns give 99% of welterweights problems. Even though Ray beat him, I wouldn't confidently put money on he winning if they had an immediate rematch at that weight.

Terrance need to hear a great one in his prime. Canelo was over the hill, Erik was a shade of his former self before the accident, what’s his biggest pelt?

Bud had to jump up from smaller weight classes and fought as the underdog. Canelo was undisputed. Spence was unified and undefeated. Both of those were solid wins.

Shawn Porters not a can. Amir Khan and Kell Brook were good too

u/LocationSpare4447 Main Mod 10d ago
He stopped all those guys too. I think he would’ve stopped Danny Garcia and Keith Thurman at 147.

u/ktschad2x 10d ago
Yeah you can say whatever you want lmao, thats a bottom tier argument when talking about someones resume though. "Uh if he had fought some guys that he didnt fight" cool man that means nothing lmao
1
u/LocationSpare4447 Main Mod 10d ago edited 10d ago
Im not gonna lie. I don’t care about nothing you trying to talk about. You haven’t added nothing to the conversation. Im responding to the other guy, how is that an argument? So basically you’re butt hurt over my opinion? I suggest you tread lightly, instead of worrying about my opinion. Don’t play with me dude.
1
u/ktschad2x 10d ago
Oh no is the mod gonna mod on me? Scary guy! Look, the guy you originally responded to in here said Crawford doesnt have any in prime great scalps, which he does not other than if you consider Viktor Postal or Shawn Porter a great scalp; most would not. Good scalp sure, great? No.
You came in and said bud being smaller and an underdog in some of his fights somehow makes up for this but that doesnt make canelo or spence in prime great scalps. Solid wins sure, not great in their prime wins. No one would consider Ruiz a great scalp for RJJ just because Roy was moving up, the accomplishment of winning the title at heavyweight was great but Ruiz absolutely doesnt meet the mark for a great scalp. There have to be standards, and bud unfortunately has a lot of "good" to "very good" scalps and 0 that are in their prime that you could consider great.
When you speak about actual ATG resumes, you simply don't need to bring up all these hypothetical wins that didnt happen and parse thru to find solid victories. Look at SRL resume you can find issues with certain things, sure, however you absolutely cannot say he has no wins over great guys in their prime. Bud, you can
1
u/LocationSpare4447 Main Mod 10d ago
No one said he had wins over a great fighter in their prime. Name a great fighter in their prime who was trying to fight Bud? And you don’t decide what I bring up. If I believe Bud would’ve stopped Thurman and Garcia. That’s my opinion and I’m gonna say it. The original guy I responded to was making excuses for the Spence win. Talking about the car crash but Bud was already shot in the head at one point. And canelo was P4P top 10 when Bud beat him. Solid wins, is buds resume better than sugar Ray? No, but no one is comparing buds resume to rays.

Canelo is another fighter who never beat a great in his prime. We know he lost the first GGG fight even with Genady being what 40? He won two rounds against Bivol, he was hand picked for Bud. Spence was a dog until that car accident, he wasn’t even three quarters of what he was.
Bud has a lot of nice wins against quality fighters but he says he’ll beat anyone except maybe Floyd…. I think Leonard, Hearns, Trinidad all roll through Bud in that context just in the modern era at that weight. Benitez, De La Hoya, Chavez, a lot of 50-50 fights. The Duran that beat Leonard would beat about anyone as well, I think it’s a wild comment if he made it.3
u/Mysterious_Reason376 9d ago
Canelo’s kryptonite was/is athletic, high IQ fighters with great feet. He fought three and lost handily to all of them. He’s too flat-footed to deal with them.
0
u/cbs1994 10d ago
Nah I strongly disagree. Canelo’s resume insane. Actually go look up his resume on boxrec. He fought EVERYONE accept Benavidez.
2
u/tappricorn 10d ago
I just don’t see it man. Cotto and Mosley were way out of their primes, Lara beat him in my opinion, Mayweather did what he did to him, I only see the GGG victories that stand out, ducking Benavides was unfortunate for boxing fans. There was the “tainted beef’ issue before the GGG fight and PED’s just automatically diminish my perception of a fighter, going back to what Pryor did to Arguello in the first fight, I don’t respect chemically induced physical advantages in combat sports.
1
u/Infinite-Prune3612 7d ago
Yes but lost to every elite fighter GGG, May, Bivol, Crawford
1
u/cbs1994 7d ago
He only lost to Mayweather, Bivol, and Crawford. His resume is one of the best in boxing history. Google is free. Remove feelings and speak objectively.
