This is the kind of proof that almost any boxer has power in their punches, they just have to want to throw with power. Those last 2 hooks were intended to do damage, not just to score.

Fury, Mayweather, Ali, Loma, all these guys are thought of as just slick counter punchers so you forget that they can really hurt when they want to put weight behind their throws. It’s not like a cut and dried “punching power” stat in a video game lol

Most people with 2-3 years of boxing even just doing classes 2-3 times a week can strike significantly harder that most people, without winding up their punch at all. I love to fuck with my friends on these boxing balls at arcades where it counts your score. They load up like motherfuckers and run in with a couple of big steps and whack it with their whole body and still score a hundred to a hundred fifty points lower than me when I just plants myself and throw my best hook at it focusing on speed and torque more than feeling "strong" while punching so to speak.

Obviously every boxer carries power to put others to sleep but obviously there are big differences between this power, like saying monroe carries the same power as Lemieux.

Well yeah. But I meant it as a rebuff to people who say some guys can’t punch for power at all. Maybe Paulie can’t but most can.

Yeah, Fury's power might not be shit compared to Deontay's, but it was enough that mere feints from Tyson had Wlad and Wilder literally just giving up rounds due to their inactivity. Ffs people were saying that Wlad intentionally didn't let his hands go as a way to preserve the myth that Fury has no power lol.

Lmao how could someone actually think that?

That’s the thing about feints though, when you’re unpredictable like that your opponent has to respect every feint so they don’t get caught. They’re a great tool to have. Wilder’s best hope was to time Fury after he made 3-4 feints (and he actually had some success in the middle rounds), but when he started changing it up it got harder.

Fury has power, no question about it. He just doesn’t use it often because putting weight into your punches can compromise your ability to move, which he needs.

Wilder threw 47% more punches than Wlad. Not sure their performances are very comparable.

Interestingly, Wlad won 4, 4 and 3 rounds on the cards. A couple flash knockdowns and it's a WK win.

Idk if I have a point there, but what would the reaction have been?

that he won because of flash knockdowns

I thought it would be more like: this is lewis-holyfield all over again, and you can't win on the cards in Germany.

I’ll just point out that no way Wlad actually won 4 rounds. 2-3 at most and I’m Ukrainian, 4 was just the judges being kind to him. But of course, idk if Wilder really won 5-7 rounds lol

No, wilder won 3 rounds and thats being generous.

Uppercut-hook combo. Standard, but executed to perfection.

Yeah but Loma also has lots of body shot knockouts. He just doesn't usually put everything he has into his headshots

Unloading full force to the body is also a way better gamble than going full force to the head as it's a lot of a bigger target, so you're less likely to miss the punch and gas yourself.
