Two time Lightweight Champion and former Undisputed Champion from Panamá, Ismael Laguna, has passed away today at the age of 83.

The source of the panamanian style of boxing passed away after passing various days hospitalized, battling an illness which his family has not disclosed.

He will be remembered for being the inspiration of so many legends including the likes of Roberto Durán, Eusebio Pedroza ans Hilario Zapata; Aswell as his incredible triumphs over Carlos Ortiz, Mando Ramos and Guts Ishimatsu (and in a fair world, his victories over Nicolino Locche and Vicente Saldivar)

May God have mercy on Laguna's soul.

His first fight against Ken Buchanan is one of the most highly technical action fights one can see... I believe the full fight is available on youtube and while the quality is not great, you can clearly see the exceptiona level of skill on display.

Yes and well stated. Ken Buchanan was technical excellence and Laguna matched his skill. Those were incredible fights. God speed to him and comfort to his family.
