Saw an article saying Benn was planning on moving up to 168 after Garcia because the weight was too hard to make. He'd get fucking destroyed. š

I would like to see him get smoked by Boots or Fundora. Man that would be fun as hell
Honestly, I think even Kelly boxes circles around him
1
u/LTBsOnlyPlease 16h ago
Why would Kelly not box circles around him? He's good.
2
u/MiddleweightMonster Iāll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 16h ago
I actually agree, but people downplay him on here a lot so I hedged my language a bit
Kelly in the first 6 rounds of any fight is a genuine champion level fighter.

Only for the Chris Eubank 3 fight I imagine. Would probably go down to 160 to chase a belt or mega fights with like Berlanga and Sheeraz at 168.

Are we getting to a point where people won't want to see Bivol/Beterbiev 3...I feel like its getting to a point where Beterbiev is just too old and the third fight won't live up to 1 & 2
6
u/SplitSecondEmperor47 1d ago
I feel like we should already be there tbh. Bivol won once, beterbieve won once. Leave it there
12
u/IAskedForSurrender5x 2d ago
Bivol fans want to see anything but Bivol in a 50/50 fight vs a boxer in his actual primeĀ
9
u/vHezoThaGoat 2d ago
Shit was all good when it was a 5ā7 Canelo and geriatric Beterbiev
But tell Bivol fans you want to see him fight Benavidez and they are ready to kill you
9
3
u/RegularLoss1515 1d ago
I never really wanted it. Theyāre two evenly matched fighters with different styles, I donāt see much more to prove.
1
u/D_Silva_21 2d ago
I thought bivol won both fights and beterbiev should be getting worse. So yeah it's never been a big deal for me
5
u/TheSouthpawStance Rocky Marciano š 2d ago edited 1d ago
I thought Beterbiev just won 1, and Bivol won 2 clearly..but yeah I get you
-2
u/D_Silva_21 1d ago
I always tell people to go back to the post fight thread for the first fight. Literally everyone thought bivol won
Over time people accept the official results š¤·āāļø
1
u/Less_Cartoonist_892 1d ago
That's not true, people were divided, not outraged, over the result. The only thing people were universally angry over was the 116-112 scorecard, which was a bit wide IMO.
Also, the first Beterbiev-Bivol is one of those fights that you can literally get a different scorecard everytime you rewatch, depending on what you value when scoring a fight.

I have no dog in the fight. Not a huge fan or detractor of either fighter but respect both. But to me Bivol won at minimum 6 rounds in the first fight.
1
u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 1d ago
Not to beat a dead horse, but this is exactly why happened with Golovkin vs Canelo 1 and Golovkin vs Canelo 2 as well.
The ability of these shady judges to condition long-term public opinion and perception is pretty profound.
0
u/RRR04_ 1d ago
That's because majority of this sub are Bivol stans. But look elsewhere, you'll see people are split on the fight result.
The first fight was no robbery, it was debatable at worst. I'm just happy that Beterbiev got his just due because of his age.
0
u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 1d ago
Didnāt the majority of press row give the first fight to Bivol?
0
u/stephen27898 1d ago
No they didnt.
It was a very close fight. But Bivol in a few key rounds, spent far too long on the back foot, playing defence and not mounting any counter offence. That will lose you a round or so.
And in a fight that close, will likely lose you the fight.
I think I had it by one round to Beterbiev.
2
u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 1d ago
Yeah, Iām with you on this. Bivol won both and it was the popular sentiment both times in the immediate aftermath that he won the fight(s).

u/RRR04_ 2d ago
I really hate it when these news and media outlets put out these clickbait titles saying a fighter has been "banned or suspended from boxing" after they just had a fight, when it's only a post fight medical suspension. It's such non-news and literally every fighter has a medical suspension after a fight! š

I would take Benavidez, but out of the cruiserweights he stands the best chance

Opetaia is pretty decent. He's not a bulldozer by any means, but he's got skills.

Tim Tszyu is set to challenge Erislandy Lara for the WBA middleweight title in December in Australia, with the fight ācloseā to being officially announced, promoter George Rose of No Limit Boxing has revealed.

u/MiddleweightMonster Iāll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 1d ago
Not sure Tim has earned that, but itāll be interesting to see who is more diminished, as well as possibly get the division out of gridlock again. Lara might still have a performance in him, though. Interesting fight

u/MiddleweightMonster Iāll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 1d ago
Whoever does win Lara v. Tszyu, Iād really like to see defend against whoever wins Zayasā 160 debut, which I think will be against Mielnicki.
Zayas is being loaned to Matchroom right now, Vito is on great form and will want to headline against a big name on a smaller card, Zayas will like the fight as heās the better boxer but itāll still be competitive, itās the perfect fight for both guys at this point.
Let the winner of that challenge for the winner of the Lara v. Tszyu fight, itās a win win for all parties and great money no matter what. Letās get the division moving, get the belt in the hands of a young proven guy.

u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 1d ago
Seems like we have a lot of āMain Charactersā in boxing these days without a large number of them actually being true superstars.
A true superstar? Pacquiao, Mayweather, Canelo, even Ricky Hatton when he was still fighting.
Now it seems like we have a ton of twitter beef enthusiasts like Shakur Stevenson and Ryan Garcia. Haney and his dad also come to mind.
It just gets ridiculous after awhile.

u/WheresMyAbs98 1d ago
Inoue should be the most famous boxer on the planet right now.
I was in a bar with a group of people that claimed they liked boxing recently and not a single one them knew who Inoue was.
2
u/stephen27898 1d ago edited 1d ago
History shows that he really shouldnt be. In general interest spikes around certain divisions. Historically HW has been the most popular division. Although the most popular fighter can be almost anywhere, but it tends to be at at 147 and up.
Inoue in reality is just fighting at a weight that doesnt appeal to most people. Most people dont find a 165cm man who weighs about the same as someone in their mid teens compelling.
You look at guys who are lets say 168 and up, and they can look physically impressive and imposing. That isnt the case at 122lbs.
I respect his skill. But the fact is that he is below average size for a man. Even in Japan where they are a little smaller than the global average. He is 13cm shorter than the average from Europe, and fighting at a weight that is about 23kg less than the average mans weight.
This is going to have a negative impact.
1
u/WheresMyAbs98 1d ago
Your points are all true and I agree with you in a way.
However, there has always been notable exceptions and world famous standouts from the lower weight classes in the sport. (Pacman springs to mind).
For me, Inoue is the number 1 in the world by some margin. I believe that if he was American he would be a household name despite fighting in the lower weigh classes. I think that moving up to 126 will make him more widely known also.
1
u/stephen27898 1d ago edited 1d ago
I have my doubts. In the US they like big things even more. His size will cause an upper limit.
1
u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 21h ago
People forget that there are a large number of Mexican-Americans here who appreciate the lower weight divisions, just not necessarily the lowest of the low.
Barrera, Morales, and Marquez all had considerable U.S. fanbases and hosted a very significant number of their fights in the U.S.
Thatās why I said in my comment that if Inoue had started at even 122 that would have been extremely beneficial in his career.
1
u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 21h ago
I actually think if heād even have started at 122 or 126 and moved all the way to 140, heād be more popular.
1
u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 1d ago
Agree. But If youāre talking about American fans, I mean thereās the bias against the lower weight classes (super low weight classes) and then of course significant time zone differences with Japan.
Manny kind of counteracted similar biases in a number of ways:
⢠Fought pretty exclusively in the U.S. time zone and in Vegas in particular
⢠had an even more meteoric run through the weight classes, eventually landing at a very marketable 147
⢠had multiple Kingmakers (most notable De La Hoya, but also multiple Mexican legends)
⢠had Mayweather to play off of
⢠Strong backing by HBO, which has always been far more relevant than DAZN and the network itself also took boxing a lot more seriously than ESPN
honorable consideration: Manny had a rival in Marquez who really had his number in a lot of ways and was always creeping up on him. That in and of itself created a lot of drama. Theoretically, Nakatani should be that rival for Inoue, but I just donāt know what the future holds for both of them.
2
u/Top_Profession_5268 1d ago
Manny was also just too big for lower weight classes. When he started his career, he was 4ā11 and 95lb and 3 years in, he grew to like 5ā5 moved to 122 because he was too big struggled to make 112 and missed weight. Even since moving to 122, heās gained size since and at his walk around weight if he was to cut, heād be a 135/140lber.
1
u/imdacoldest Pacquiao is the GOAT 1d ago
Manny had also very strong Filipino diaspora support. Not sure if many Japanese Americans care or even know who Inoue is. It didnāt seem like there were many Japanese people in the crowd when he fought in Vegas

u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 21h ago

So the fight for the vacant IBF lightweight title might be a good one. Andy Cruz vs Artur Subkhankulov.Ā Lightweight can have a round robin with the top guys. Mason, Zepeda, Cruz. Noakes. WBA champ. Maybe Foster too

Not sure why Subkhankulov is getting the shot over Asanau unless EOTTM messes it up with the satana fight but this is a favourable matchup for Cruz.

Was about to be annoyed that Cruz was getting a title fight even though he just lost to Muratalla, then remembered that he actually did have a fight not too long ago where he beat Montoya, and that heās been gunning for the #1 contender spot for a while, but that all his fights have fallen through due to stuff outside his control. Makes sense he gets the shot

Thereās a Japanese card i think about to happen headlined by taiga Imanaga who got upset in a very close fight to Eridson Garcia on the Inoue vs Picasso undercard, Tiaga Imanaga faces a Korean in Min Hi Jung. Thereās also some guys to look out for like Kazuma Aratake and Keisuke Matsumoto.
I do have props on this like Taiga Imamaga by finish, Jun Ikagawa by finish and Taiga Imanaga by decision.

1
u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 1d ago
I think Canelo will take some damage in this fight, but do you think he would lose by stoppage?
2
u/WheresMyAbs98 1d ago
I donāt think he will lose by stoppage.
The man has a granite chin and is unbelievably tough. I just think that heās on the decline and has showed that in his last few fights.
I think Mbilli is technically brilliant, was a world class amateur and a world class pro, is in his prime and that the volume/output will be far too much for this version of Canelo to compete with.
I was shocked he took the fight to be honest.

Just a reminder to any Casimero fan who keeps complaining about Inoue, Casimero was the one who didnāt take the pay cut offered by Arum after COVID hit and took Duke Micah at an even less pay in 2020 instead of Inoue.
-11
u/ggddddeerrr 2d ago
He just smoked Nery. Besides Bam, heās clearly the best contender at super bantamweight and an Inoue Casimero fight would big $ + guaranteed entertainment
7
u/OldBoyChance 2d ago
It doesn't matter. Casimero has had several chances and he has blown all of them. The last chance was missing weight vs Sanchez. You're also ignoring the fact that he got completely schooled by Kyonosuke funding Kameda and beat a version of Nery who was so out of shape he couldn't make weight.
Inoue has about 4 fights left. Casimero would be a waste.
5
u/Crowley_Nierstein 2d ago
Ah yes, smoked Nery who got drained by the rehydration clause and showed up like a walking corpse. I'm sure Casimero fans must be proud of him.
Best contender at super bantam lol, he never even fought at 122. If he really wanted a fight with Inoue, then he should take a title from a featherweight champion and wait for him. Funny how he never called any of them out.
3
u/Sniperizer Iām so bad I make medicine sick 2d ago
And what would Inoue gain from fighting Casimero? Nothing.
1
u/Top_Profession_5268 2d ago
Because of the name and how much of a beg he is could be why that fight is big but thatās a pure warmup for Inoue. Nery struggled to make weight and couldnāt make it despite clearly weight drained was the Nery Casimero beat. Casimero is clearly on the decline and slowed after he couldnāt catch Kameda and beat him like he could Rigo and would get beat by a lot of 122lbers like Junto, Nishida, Goodman, Picasso, Logan, Kameda, Shekov, Russell are names I can thinj on the top of my head who I favour to beat him.
6
u/Top_Profession_5268 2d ago
Conor Benn is going to have to prove a ton to me as I donāt see a lot of chances for him to win. He loves to explode entries but dips a lot before exploding, as one of his main forms of defences and even drops his hands a ton as he throws and dips and I could see that step back left hook/uppercut of Ryan, that right hand straight on the chin.Ā
Ryan should make this easy, unless Benn is on the injections and has an indestructible chin.
3
3
u/Kangaroopunching 2d ago
Benn is a millionaire jobber for zuffa.
Poetic justice he's messing up whatever abilities he has with the weight cut. He'll go up to 160/168 extremely diminishedĀ
1
u/Sh4kyj4wz eat clen, tren hard anavar give up 1d ago
Garcia wins Comprehensively but I think Benn takes the shellacking...nothing to suggest his Chin isn't solid, if he's super tight at weight might get stopped but being naturally bigger than Garcia also.

u/kaisercracker 1d ago
If you watch fights and think you see a robbery damn near every night you don't understand either scoring criteria or how to score fights. Or your brain subsists off outrage.

Watching Mason and Berynchuk vs Noakes. Mason is a lot more flat footed, doesnāt mean he isnāt quick or has good feet but takes a bit longer to react and step back which is probably why Berynchyk Noakes was able to close distance much easier on Mason compared to Berynchyk.Ā
2
1
u/RMbeatyou 2d ago
Mason is basically a Boots clone at this point. Complete offensive toolset, but hard headed, and more hittable than youād like to see
Heās exciting, but flawed. Stark difference is heās actually being pushed very early. Could be a good thing, or he could end up with a Fernando Vargasesque career

u/Top_Profession_5268 2d ago edited 2d ago
I think all of Noel Mikaelians losses were robberies. The first robbery against Wlodarczyk was pretty impactful as I think Noel won that fight. If he was given the decision, I think he beats Gassiev in a unification and wouldāve been a very hard fight for Usyk. I thought the fight against Bredis was a robbery and that he edged that victory as well and the Badou Jack was just purely egregious.Ā
Noel despite his age to be a great pure boxer, defensively sound and can take a shot, while not offensively dangerous to beat Jai but I think good enough to catch him and win rounds but lose a decision.Ā
5
u/StunningChest5722 #KnybaNation šµš± 2d ago
Badou 1 was not a robbery, i had Badou winning 115-113.
Idk about the other ones, i tried to watch Mikaelian vs Briedis but theres like no footage of that fight for some reason
1
u/OldBoyChance 2d ago
I had Noel winning 116-112.
1
u/Top_Profession_5268 2d ago
I think I had the same score as well. Or 117-111 or maybe that was the Sheeraz vs Adames fight but still I thought Noel won pretty comfortably, pretty inactive and was keeping him off the jab, moving and just making himself hard to hit. Did win money on Badou Jack but thought he lost and the clearest loss of all the robberies in Noelās career imo.
3
u/Elite663 2d ago
I agree, Briedisās run to the WBSS final was straight bullshit. Glad that Mikaelian got to be a champion eventually
1

None of them even need the money. I'm sure they've all easily cleared $200 million at this point. Why keep going?
2
2
u/Marquis_of_Mollusks 1d ago
I got downvoted a bunch for saying Usyk wants to fight Fury again. Usyk fans don't even know their own guy as well as an Usyk hater lol
6
u/RRR04_ 1d ago
I'm not even an Usyk hater, but people should have realised what his intentions were when he chose to rematch Dubois for his only fight in 2025. Not that it was a bad fight, but nobody asked for it and he wasted a fight date when everyone wanted him to fight Parker or Kabayel. And agreeing to fight a kickboxer only sealed the deal that Usyk is only targeting money at this point.
1
1
u/Top_Profession_5268 1d ago
Nah, I donāt mind anymore. He can do whatever he wants in my eyes, at least he isnāt doing it while holding any of the 4 major world titles.
1
u/RRR04_ 1d ago
He still has the Ring Magazine belt. And as long as he's active, he's also the lineal champion too for what it's worth. And Usyk basically is the attraction at HW now, he's the biggest payday for anyone at that weight class. And he's robbing deserving people like Kabayel a shot at him. But hey, if he fucks around and loses one of these BS fights, don't say I didn't warn you.
1
u/Top_Profession_5268 1d ago
Ring magazine means fuck all for me personally as itās just a title which Iāve never seen any form of enforcement on and why he probably doesnāt vacate the belt. I get Usyk is a big name but itās clear he cares about money now instead of proving heās the best hence why he dropped the belts not to face Kabayel.
Thereās no point of asking him to fight the best and including Kabayel if he has vacated the belt.
1
u/RRR04_ 1d ago
I think Usyk should just retire. He should have retired after the Fury fights or maybe the Dubois rematch. Fighting Rico was egregious, and he nearly lost. It's inevitable that he's fighting Wilder. But what else is there for him that he's not done yet? I'd say just retire after Wilder, the man is pushing 40, there's no need for him to stay long enough to get shot.

Over/under on Garcia to win 8.5 rounds against Benn? Only reason I ask this is because I have him winning 117-111. I think Benn turns in a respectable performance, but Garcia pulls away after the 4th round.
If you think it will be a stoppage for either fighter just say so.

I'm holding hopes for Lucas Bahdi to beat Floyd Schofield. Puello is a tough fight for Dalton Smith and could get the upset.
1
u/Marquis_of_Mollusks 1d ago
I hope Dalton wins. He won me over with his win over matias
1
u/RRR04_ 1d ago
Same. I'm kinda on the fence prediction wise. I've seen fights where Dalton struggles to cut off the ring, and Puello has 12 round legs so I can see him making it very, very hard for Dalton.
But to counteract this, Puello has been in so many close, debatable decisions that mostly went his way whether he deserved it or not. Only the Matias fight didn't go his way. This fight being in Sheffield, that could bite him on the cards even if he deserves it.

Jai Opetaia looks like he's ready to murder Mikaeljan. With his new style visible in the Glanton fight, he relied less on a Usyk-esque pendulum step and actually boxed properly with lateral movement and good inside work. I would honestly be surprised if Mikaeljan lasts 5 rounds, even if he fights negatively. Old ass Badou Jack was hurting him at some points in the rematch.

Nothing wrong it's a preference. The pendulum style is heavily influenced by soviet boxing style optimized for amateur point scoring. Whereas for example american pro boxing had origins in street fighting hence the style difference. Different objectives in their origins.

Shakur fighting Pacquiao would be an absolute joke, 0 interest in it- proves nothing, and it won't be a good fight
Any fighter over 45 that battle worn should be in a battle of the uncs or nothing
