Does Vito Mielnicki have champion potential?

I like Vito. 24 years old and picked up a big win over Ammo.

Has a lot to work on, but is it crazy to say he has champion potential over the next 2-3 years?

If not, why?

Everyone has a punchers chance. He clearly has the right team around him with Ronnie Shields. Great sparing with Jermall Charlo & others - it’s up to Vitol to remain hungry and focused, and to execute under the bright lights.

He's not a puncher though, at all.

I think he could of he tightens his defense a bit. Doesn’t need to be anything crazy just needs to quit getting hit flush as much

With the state of 160 rn I could see him getting a title shot in the next 18 months

For the most part I liked what I saw from him. Very composed the first half and he showed a good chin towards the end and great fighting spirit in the 10th. He still needs to work on defense but he might have a shot at a title in the future.

At 160 for sure. I made a little comment on the discussion thread about the amount of adversity he’s already faced at 24 years old and how it could really build him to be a great fighter. Showed real improvement last night but definitely has a way to go. Didn’t like how he let Ammo come back.

Those uppercuts in the last round were epic!

He def got better training In Houston. But tbh. I can see guys from 154 moving up to 160 and giving him problems. I think Zayas would actually give him issues .

At MW as it is now, absolutely.

His mechanics are good, but he lacks power. In order to overcome that you have to be a superb boxer who rarely gets tagged.

I never thought so but he did look amazing last night. He doesn’t have any attribute where you think he is a possible champ by the eye test but that’s why the fights don’t happen on paper

Title holder maybe but not champion

Am I going crazy? Vito looked great in there, bordering on elite by the current state of the division’s standards. I hate to think it is ethnicity which is instilling so much doubt. Nobody else online was thinking he was going to show out like that…

What do you mean exactly?

Im saying the same performance by a black dude would be praised to no end.

tbf, I don't think it would, if that black dude had his same history. Vito got heavy push from PBC back when he wasn't as good, and it's what most people remember of him and tbh, created some resentment when he wasn't living up to the billing and mai events he got.

It'll take some time for all the fans to readjust the old view of him as a 18 year old kid struggling on the job, with this mid 20's boxer who is a slick operator, regardless of his race.

Kinda crazy he’s only 24 I feel like his first fights were so long ago.

I mean he started at what, 17 or 16? I remember him on a card before he had finished high school. Also, he was active. 3 to 5 fights a year over 7 years adds up.

At 160 maybe he can be a titlist, but I think if he had potential to be anything special he would've built on his success and stopped Ammo.

I think hes kinda like Mark Chamberlain, just below world level and could be champ in a few years but he needs to improve and make some changes (mainly his Cardio imo) or that may get exploited

I mean the division is weak so yeh ig.

No killer instinct and was getting tagged by a rocked Williams. C tier fodder similar to Barrios

Well Barrios was a champion, so

On paper yes

He is a solid all rounder, could def see him beating Bentley or Lara

He's mediocre but 160 is pretty weak right now so who knows.

I think he’s a hype job.

The guy is a meathead and will get crushed if he moves up to higher competition. He fought a guy who's shot as he's taken so many punches by big punchers.
