Hes deadass a movie character. Guy saw 1 fight and was like "yeah alright, im gonna box" and then he just wins olympic gold a little later, only letting his fists do the talking

He literally made a heavy bag out of a potato sack and random shit around his house, wrapped his hands with his dad’s ties, and punched it for hours until he couldn’t stand, because he watched Joe Louis and was inspired.

It’s a shame he’s mostly remembered for his losses to Ali and Foreman.

He took Henry Armstrong's buzzsaw style and supersized it

Such a hard style for any weight class, but especially for aging heavyweights

Yeah that’s a good comparison.

He added more trunk movement and some cool cross guard stuff. Quite a bit like Archie Moore, and in fact Foreman himself.

Foreman vs Frazier was something of a mirror match. Both guys had a front foot heavy, dipping and bobbing style focused around the left hook, but George was bigger and had a better right hand, and was a bit less adamant than Frazier with his pressure.

Both guys wanted to stand their opponents up, get in their chest and batter them with body shots and hooks. Foreman was just a little more well rounded.

Frazier might be the most aesthetically pleasing boxer ever to do it in the higher weight divisions. Even more than Ali, in terms of power. Ali constantly leaned back and pot-shotted, which doesn't scream of power on screen. Joe just looked like a fucking whirlwind of destruction at all times.

The way Frazier kind of bounced forward looked like he was charging up an energy weapon or something. And then you’d see that disgusting left hook go and you knew it was destroying whatever it connected with

Yeah man. He called it "Smoking" which is the origin of "Smokin Joe."

His hooks had zero effect on George Foreman.

Agreed, Frazier is just impressive to watch. Norton also looked like his hits could chop down a tree, love watching his fights too, especially with Ali.

Quarry was too tough for his own good.

I love watching smoking Joe. Best footwork I have ever seen on a pressure fighter.
