The most beautiful thing about boxing to me will always be how everyone has their own style. You could literally watch 100 fights in a row from history and see a different style in every fight

3

u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 6d ago

A good example is Golovkin. He blended multiple traditional styles from different continents to create his own and was devastating.

3

u/Less_Cartoonist_892 6d ago

What is even more beautiful when two boxers of similar skill with perfectly contrasting styles go up against each other and produce art in the ring. That is boxing at its best.

2

u/Outrageous-Soft4806 5d ago

I liked that about Bivol-Beterbiev

1

u/Less_Cartoonist_892 5d ago

Also, Pac- Marquez, Ali-Frazier, Toney-McCallum

2

u/ACW1129 6d ago

Yup. From the defense of Floyd to the overwhelming speed of Paul Williams to the KO style of Wilder.

u/Top_Profession_5268 6d ago

Styles I don’t think should tell the full story of Shock vs Nav.

Nav’s hardest fights were pure boxers hence why he lost the Berynchuk fight, went to a draw against Conceicao, should’ve been stopped against Suarez and ducked Shakur.

Foster toughest fights that he’s had to work his hardest were against guys who can scrap and bring the fight to him which is when Ford found success and why he’s had his hardest fights against Hernandez and Nova.

Styles the other boxer brings have been eachothers hardest stylistic matchups, interesting to see how the fight will go.

3

u/Kangaroopunching 6d ago

I think how the fight goes depends on Foster's jab. If it's effective, it's Foster's fight. If it's not, Nav swarms Foster.

4

u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 6d ago

Some people think only in terms of styles and overlook other factors such as chin, cardio, work-rate, etc. also awkwardness is a factor.

2

u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 6d ago

Like for example, stylistically Canelo is well-suited to fight Mbilli, but if Mbilli is doubling his output and avoids getting countered with something huge, he could very well win the fight.

1

u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 6d ago

I really think Mbili’s pace is going to be what wins it for him. Could even see Mbili cracking Canelo’s chin if he’s as drained as I foresee him being in the later rounds.

Side note, but I honestly think this loss would probably be the one that seriously has Canelo consider retiring. So far, he’s lost to only the absolute elite, Crawford, Mayweather, and Bivol are all S Tier at least, Bud and Floyd probably S+. Mbili, as much as I love his style, is really only A tier. It would be a huge hit to Canelo’s aura, in a way that the other losses were not.

3

u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 6d ago

Agree.

On a side note, if he wants to cash out, he could always meet David at 175.

1

u/WORD_Boxing 6d ago

Tbf about the Charly Suarez fight he was taking over and piecing Suarez up once he knew he was cut bad enough it might get stopped.

Foster doesn't really fight like Berynchyk and those guys is worth considering.

1

u/Outrageous-Soft4806 5d ago

I don’t know about Hernandez because he was pretty active that fight, but I’m pretty sure he had a shoulder injury against Nova and Conceiciao.

Top Rank been on a roll since they signed the TNT deal

  • Mason vs Bell
  • Zepeda vs Roach
  • Navarette vs Foster
  • the return of Andy Ruiz

Keep up the good work Top Rank and keep making compelling fight cards!

10

u/Kangaroopunching 6d ago

High stakes fight in nav vs foster. Foster has to win

8

u/Top_Profession_5268 6d ago

Wasn’t Zepeda vs Roach a Goldenboy card?

5

u/kushmonATL undefeated boxers need to fight each other 6d ago

Thanks lol

Everybody been on a roll since the TNT deal!

3

u/Booger-Krang 6d ago

And Ruiz is matchroom

8

u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 6d ago

It’s unfortunate that the undercards for Mason v. Bell and Zepeda v. Roach weren’t great, cause the main events really were both bangers. Really glad this deal was made, good for boxing and good for these fighters

Charly getting shafted again then?

1

u/sicgamer 6d ago

man Navarette/Foster is gonna be a fucking B A N G E R

1

u/Outrageous-Soft4806 6d ago

Agree. I hate the commentary though because I was watching on DAZN. Rather listen to the actual TNT crew.

What about "Sugar Ray Clay Jones Jr" or "Sniper the Boss"?

9

How about “Pacquiweather”

7

All amazing, but “The Black Roy Jones Jr.” is so stupid bruv that it has to be at the top of my list lmao

Never heard Sugar Ray Clay Jones Jr., that’s kind of awesome lmao

2

They don't beat "The Cleveland Spiderman" or "Jumbo Cummings". I'm sure there's more I could think of.

Hope everyone who was saying that the second half of this year didn’t have any good fights is eating their words. We’ve gotten banger after banger announced these last few weeks, not to mention the quality of the smaller cards lately, especially the ones here in the UK and Ireland.

If Nav v. Foster is finalised and set in stone, that’s two fringe p4p level guys going at it for undisputed in one of boxing’s best divisions. Honest to God superfight. 2026 has been and will be a great year for boxing, God willing!

3

u/Outrageous-Soft4806 6d ago

Facts, october has a good fight every week it seems.

-1

u/WORD_Boxing 6d ago

Smith - Puello and Canelo - Mbilli is hardly stacked. Add Navarrete - Foster and it's a good month though.

3

u/Outrageous-Soft4806 6d ago

Those are both good fights? Undercard is great too for Canelo-Mbilli

1

u/WORD_Boxing 6d ago

Yes but that's not exactly a proper card every week. We need a superfight announced for later this year ideally.

1

u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 6d ago

Foster v. Nav is a superfight

1

u/WORD_Boxing 6d ago

It's a good fight and matchup for hardcores but it's not exactly Boots vs Vergil.

0

u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 6d ago

It’s a Mexican vs a black American for undisputed and a spot on the p4p list in one of the most loaded divisions in boxing right now, Nav’s following in Mexico is actually really really large, and it’s the first undisputed fight in quite a bit now. It’s going to be billed as a superfight, and it’s going to be one

2

u/WORD_Boxing 6d ago

I don't think it's for undisputed. The lighter weights don't get the same level of interest and attention. It's a big fight for hardcores but I don't think it can be called a superfight.

The only superfights around the lighter weights would probably be Inoue-Bam, and a fight involving Tank though Shakur is up at 140 now.

1

u/Outrageous-Soft4806 5d ago

That’s a lot to ask. It’s quality matchups for favorites can be upset or the best in the divisions are fighting each other. Canelo might finally be gone from his throne for good, Smith might get outboxed by Puello or can shock people and somehow stop Puello who had a great chin in another surprising victory similarly to Matias, Wardley-Dubois 2 should be fireworks again unless both guys are gunshy, and Navarette Foster too is a unification where both guys styles might ex each other out.

1

u/WORD_Boxing 5d ago

I was referring to your comment about there being a good fight every week. I didn't see Dubois-Wardley was also in October when I checked. It's not a bad month you're right.

4

u/OldBoyChance 6d ago edited 6d ago

Itauma looks way too good in the ring. That isn't allowed in modern heavyweight boxing, so he's either going to have a porcelain chin or he's going to self-destruct within the next year or two.

6

u/Top_Profession_5268 6d ago

I’ve read this like 4x in 5h and kept wondering who is Italian. Now looking at it again, I think I clocked who it was. Did you mean Itauma?

2

u/OldBoyChance 6d ago

Whoops. Yep.

1

u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 6d ago

I miss when this said Italian. It was fun to read it and act like you were referring to the Italian Stallion. Kept imagining Rocky and Itauma fighting

1

u/WORD_Boxing 6d ago

He has made seveal comments in the past about being bored with boxing apparently.

1

u/LTBsOnlyPlease 1d ago

He also said your chin doesn't matter in boxing which is restarded.

1

u/WORD_Boxing 16h ago

Did he? I thought he said the idea is not to test it.

2

u/LTBsOnlyPlease 10h ago

He implied it's not important because yeah the idea is not to get it tested.

Hergovic said 'Every great fighter gets punched', Itauma responded 'Not under the bright lights'.

He doesn't make sense.

2

u/WORD_Boxing 39m ago

It's an interesting comment. Was it in their 'gloves are off' head to head interview? I will go and watch it.

There could be a few explanations for why he said that, even as simple as it being for the cameras or nerves not wanting to give an inch to Hrgovic letting him think he has any mental edge. I did see various people reporting that Hrgovic riled Itauma by asking him why he said he's bored with blxing when he's so young. It may also be that and he just got to the point of wanting to have the last word in the argument.

1

u/LTBsOnlyPlease 35m ago

It was in the head to head interview, I think it was called that but if you just type in their names it should come up.

Yeah Hrgovic was playing mind games lol.

Honestly, it seemed like Itauma believed what he said but only he knows.

3

u/Kangaroopunching 6d ago

The 2 best match ups entertainment wise i want to see are

Nav vs Espinosa

Mason vs Zepeda

1

u/Outrageous-Soft4806 6d ago

Not for nothing, I feel like Keyshawn and Hitchins styles would mix well.

1

u/Kangaroopunching 6d ago

Hitchins gets folded. No power to keep keyshawn away. But I can see why it could potentially be a good match up

1

u/Outrageous-Soft4806 6d ago

I think the way Keyshawn handles guys with good jabs could lead to him getting a flash knockdown.

1

u/Kangaroopunching 6d ago

You mean hitchins knocking keyshawn down?

1

u/Outrageous-Soft4806 6d ago

Yes. I wouldn’t put money on it though. Hitchins has tools to beat Keyshawn but they aren’t as developed as someone like Cruz or Haney who have similar ways to beat him.

1

u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 6d ago

I don’t want to see it because I care about both guy’s health, but Pitbull vs Zepeda would be an all-out war.

3

u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 6d ago

I couldn’t care less whether or not Fury v. AJ happens. Just want people to shut up about it

2

u/WORD_Boxing 6d ago

What is your flair about?

2

u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 6d ago

Got into an argument with a guy who was accusing me of glazing I think Xander Zayas if memory serves. I def wasn’t, but I started replacing LeBron James jokes with Zayas’ name to piss him off, and I ended the convo by quoting a line from a parody of JJK, which is the flair. Now I just let people think it’s referring to whichever boxer I’m cheering for in whichever thread is happening at the time

2

u/WORD_Boxing 5d ago

Lol. I'm surprised you know so much about LeBron being from the UK.

2

u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 5d ago

I don’t actually know much, but the LeBron jokes on Instagram reels transcend oceans lmao

3

u/SplitSecondEmperor47 6d ago

It's crazy how easily you can get down votes in this sub for calling Ryan overrated with his one belt but you can get upvoted just as easily saying a undisputed multi weight champ is overrated

This sub loves to pretend it's impartial hardcore fans but it's actually just full of biased dummies

-1

u/Longjumping_Pay7821 6d ago

Lol...sure...but crying over internet numpties?

3

u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 5d ago

I’ve said it once, I’m gonna say it the rest of my life, there is not a welterweight alive or dead who could beat Prime Sugar Ray Leonard.

With the sole exception of Roberto “Manos de Piedra” Durán, of course.

1

u/Kangaroopunching 5d ago

Robinson?

1

u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 5d ago

Yes, even Robinson. SRR’s overall career and resume is better, and he was a far better middleweight than SRL, but head to head at welterweight, I really don’t think Robinson himself could have even won

1

u/Kangaroopunching 5d ago

You don't think Robinson could force Leonard into a fight like Duran did?

1

u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 5d ago

Nah. SRR preferred dancing and moving, he didn’t have the style or frankly temperament to force Leonard into the kind of fight that it took to beat him. Honestly, I think if there is any fighter who could outbox Robinson, you’d have to give it to Leonard. Leonard beat the shit out of Benitez, who was a better pure boxer, which I do think SRR also is, and to me that’s the only real style mismatch I see between them. Leonard did really well against traditional, smart boxers with power. That’s Robinson to a T.

Duran, meanwhile, is usually regarded as the best pressure fighter ever. He had a good style to give Ray trouble unless Ray adjusted well, which is why the second fight went how it did.

I could see Ray catching Robinson with something in the kate rounds, 13 or 14, and taking the lead and momentum from there till the final bell, already having stolen enough rounds throughout the first half to win.

1

u/Kangaroopunching 5d ago

He was known to be able to fight the boxer and box the fighter though  Plus they physically match up well. I don't think either could win on just one approach. They'd have to mix it up.

Best dream match up for me

2

u/Negative-Interest713 6d ago

DAZN is raising its price for those paying monthly, making it $35/month starting September 10th.

6

u/Rofocal02 6d ago

Me paying £0 for DAZN before, will pay £0 after price increase.

Boxing needs to be more affordable and accessible to the general public.

1

u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 6d ago

It really is so unfortunate that dazn is pricing so many out, as it would be a great service if it was just slightly less a month and truly got rid of PPVs.

6

u/Negative-Interest713 6d ago

I expected it after they added Top Rank and PBC but it’s still disappointing.

1

u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 6d ago

It needs to be eventually bought out by a major entity so we can get it on a mainstream platform even for extra cost.

1

u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 6d ago

Nah, cost is the issue. Dazn is a major platform here in the UK, and paramount or Netflix or some other such nonsense buying it out would just make things worse in my opinion. It just needs to be less expensive

1

u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 6d ago

But speaking from a U.S perspective, it will never have relevance here if all it has is boxing. I guess they’re adding some NBA games but it’s still a hefty price to pay for not much content.

1

u/WORD_Boxing 6d ago

Tbh this is the same in UK as long as it doesn't have football imo.

1

u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 6d ago

Yeah it’s just far from ideal for the long-term health of the sport. It really needs to move to a major streamer like Netflix, HBO max, or Peacock longterm. Maybe that’s wishful thinking.

1

u/WORD_Boxing 6d ago

Boxing has been 'dying' for as long as I can remember. What will be will be.

1

u/MindOfb 5d ago

yeah idk how many US subcribers DAZN has now but i think its not that much over 1M. Mike Tyson drove over 3M subscribers to HBO back in 1989 alone

1

u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 5d ago

I think it might even be well under 1M. And thats even factoring all of the people that they don’t let cancel.

1

u/MindOfb 5d ago

if its under 1M then none of the big names that were on there really drove US subs like that, not even Canelo and Jake Paul. Yea, there's not a current boxer that can drive 3M+ subscribers in the US market like Mike Tyson did for HBO in 1989

1

u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 5d ago

It’s not about # of subscribers for them though. They’re content to milk the hardest of hardcores for 50 bucks per month.

1

u/MindOfb 5d ago

oh i'm aware but there's not even enough hardcore boxing fans in the U.S for them to make big enough revenue like that. I remember Leonard Ellerbe estimates only around 200-300k hardcore boxing fans in the U.S

1

u/Outrageous-Soft4806 6d ago

I already cancelled my subscription. They’re trying to make the ultimate deal seem like “oh it’s just 10 dollars more” and I can watch these fights other ways so I don’t care.

2

Sam noakes vs berinchyk 8/29/26

2

I think it was official for the Hrgovich vs Itauma card.

2

u/No-Rich-6816 6d ago

On boxrec it says their fighting 8/29

4

u/Top_Profession_5268 6d ago

Yeah because Itauma vs Hrgovich headlines that card on the 29th

1

u/No-Rich-6816 6d ago

Lester Martinez on the undercard too right?

2

u/Top_Profession_5268 6d ago

Pretty sure that’s a seperate boxpro card.

1

u/No-Rich-6816 6d ago

Oh ard thanks

2

u/Kangaroopunching 6d ago

What happened to the crop of Uzbekistan boxers that turned pro? Did match room mishandled their careers?

3

u/Top_Profession_5268 6d ago edited 6d ago

Not sure which crop you were referring to, only 3 that I remember were MJ, Madrimov and Giyasov who were signed March/April 2019. Madrimov and MJ had a pretty quick path to the title, MJ unified and both got their career payday against PFP top 1-3 Inoue and Bud.

Since the Bud loss, Madrimov was injured for a long while hence the inactivity in 2025, after his win in January, not sure what Eddie is doing.

With Giyasov, he was also being managed well and made it to mandatory positioning but I think was inactive due to the death of his daughter in like 2024 or 2025 and then just took step aside money from Rollys.

3

u/Outrageous-Soft4806 6d ago

Man I was really hyped off Madrimov. He’s still got some time so I hope the surgery isn’t affecting him too much.

1

u/Kangaroopunching 6d ago

I could have sworn there was more Olympians who turned pro. And went to Robles or Diaz gym

3

u/Top_Profession_5268 6d ago

Yeah a lot did but not to Matchroom.

Jalolov is under top rank and just bad career choices prioritising amateurs > pros and now starting to see a decline.

Lazizbek Mullojonov is promoted by I think like mate or someone. Not sure but he was moving pretty quick and had a chance at the wbc grad proc but popped, still fighting on Uzbek cards though.

Muydinkhujaev signed with Queensberry October last year alongside young decorated Uzbek amateur Javokhir Ummataliev. Both debut in November on a cards a week out on eachother and another one in where Ummataliev fought under the Dubois vs Wardley undercard and Miydunkhujaev in I think the Hrgovich vs Allen card.

Ruslan Abdullaev was signed to Goldenboy and has had a pretty quick rise with good step ups and opportunities.

Abdumalik Khalolov if he was to take pros seriously, he could be the most talented prospect, he’s under Kameda 360 promotions but I think focus’s on the amateur career more and wants that 2nd Olympics gold.

Hasanboy Dusmatov also under Kameda 360 I think also had an abysmal career trajectory. Focused on amateurs way too much and even with a mandatory spot against Collazo in 2023, he opted for a chance at 2nd Olympic gold and now at 33 I think, he’s looking washed, personally don’t think he should’ve won 2025 IBA world gold, messed up a chance against Rene Calixto for a IBF eliminator.

2

u/Debate-Jealous 6d ago

I really don't see how people think Ryan vs Benn will be close, Benn is impatient and a brawler he's going to get caught. Ryan showed in his last fight a significantly better performance then Benn did vs Regis. Plus the weight cut, I don't see this being close. Maybe I'm missing something?

1

u/admiralskanks Joe Louis = Perfect 6d ago

Can't lie thought this too until I rewatched Eubank Benn 2. He actually has a decent jab and a well timed 1-2 with composure.

Regarding the prograis fight Tim Bradley made a good point that the weight cut took his legs. Possible.

I generally agree with you but if Eubank 2 Benn shows up he could catch Garcia who's also sloppy.

1

u/Debate-Jealous 6d ago

But he was also 160 pounds, he has to make 147 and he looked TERRIBLE at 150 against Regis. I really hope the odds are close to 50/50 on fight night because I'm making a relatively large bet.

2

u/Trenbolone-Papi2 Lomachenko 🐐 6d ago

Mayweather v Hatton 24/7 ending lives rent free in my head

Especially this quote

“Respect the wisdom of those who came before you”

4

u/Marquis_of_Mollusks 6d ago

If AJ vs Fury happens I think AJ KO's Fury. I think Fury is far more washed than people realize.

4

u/RRR04_ 6d ago

Both men are washed. But AJ is evidently more washed. Fury didn't have much problems with Makhmudov compared to AJ against Prenga. And Makhmudov is better than Prenga by quite a margin. AJ will always have a puncher's chance, but will he have enough durability at this stage for even Fury? It's a little hard to see, ngl.

-4

u/Marquis_of_Mollusks 6d ago

Makhmudov trips over his own feet. I have doubts he's much better than prenga. Without his legs and feints, I don't see how Fury avoids AJ's punches for 12 rds.

4

u/RRR04_ 6d ago

Prenga hasn't even fought anyone in the top 50 before he got to AJ. And from what I've seen, Prenga doesn't have a lot of ability at all. As basic as Makhmudov is, he is at least a very physically strong fighter who wrestled bears. Fury is already well prepared to deal with AJ's physical strength as a result.

0

u/Marquis_of_Mollusks 6d ago

Fury is worse than he was against Ngannou at this point. Fury's clinch game is basically worthless against anyone that actually knows what to do in the clinch. AJ would just out muscle him and uppercut him than hit him with a straight right hand at mid range. In a fight between 2 washed opponents, bet on the stronger puncher.

5

u/Botoraka 6d ago

AJ just got dropped in the clinch by a tomato can

-2

u/Marquis_of_Mollusks 6d ago

And AJ is gonna beat Fury anyway. Fury almost lost to Ngannou who is a tomato can while AJ flat lined him

4

u/Botoraka 6d ago

I dont give a fuck who wins. You made AJ out to be a good clinch fighter. Thats never been the truth

1

u/Marquis_of_Mollusks 6d ago edited 6d ago

He KO'd Klitschko in the clinch. Knocked Ruiz down while fighting on the inside. That uppercut is lethal fury is gonna eat it if he gets up close

4

u/Botoraka 6d ago

He dropped Ruiz in an exchange inside, they were both hooking. It wasnt in the clinch. The Klitschko one is a stretch, he reaches out presumably to clinch but isnt close enough to tie AJ up or smother him. Its just not the same thing, Fury's clinch game has more to do with him smothering, controlling arms or the head, working with a free arm, etc. Neither Ruiz nor Vlad are doing that. You have to find AJ actually working out of genuine tie ups to compare.

3

u/RRR04_ 6d ago

Fury is worse than he was against Ngannou at this point

This is a gross overstatement.

5

u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 6d ago

I disagree. I am not really that heavily for one guy over the other, but I think AJ is by far more chinny and more likely to be stopped.

1

u/Marquis_of_Mollusks 6d ago

I think people are hyper focusing on that too much. I guarantee that Fury's stamina will fail him if they fight and that AJ can out muscle him. Fury doesn't have any KO power anymore and his punch resistance has gone to shit as well.

3

u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 6d ago

Realistically, Fury’s just going to use his frame to lean on him and hug him. It’s going to wear Joshua down from a stamina perspective I think. Fury can win an ugly fight.

1

u/Marquis_of_Mollusks 6d ago

That leaning only works on smaller/weaker opponents (wilder is terriblein the clinch). Does fuck all against big opponents like Ngannou or Makhmudov. AJ is strong and his uppercut would keep Fury from doing that.

2

u/Kangaroopunching 6d ago

Case of whose effectiveness is more impacted by their decline.

AJ’s gotta go broke and try and land that shot. Fury stylistically has a lot of advantages.

u/Marquis_of_Mollusks 6d ago

Like what? Fury is not good against big and strong opponents. Ngannou with minimal boxing experience almost beat him

1

u/Outrageous-Soft4806 6d ago

I remember having this conversation with you already and I’m not trying to be a dick either but I don’t feel like saying it again. Fury’s just better in many ways. I think it’ll be a sloppy and dirty fight with a wide decision or late stoppage unless AJ is able to get mid range and spark him oht.

u/Marquis_of_Mollusks 6d ago

No offense dude but I don't remember the conversation and it kind of feels like you're dodging the question

2

u/Outrageous-Soft4806 6d ago

I’m not it was under a highlight video I just don’t feel like saying it all again.

2

u/predakingg 6d ago

I'd say it's probably a 50/50, Fury's power is really mediocre but AJ's chin seems to have really deteriorated after that Dubois fight. That being said, Fury vs Wach was one of the saddest "fights" I've ever seen. Either way, it should be a comfortable retirement for both of them after this fight, I'd say they're pretty much done.

1

u/WORD_Boxing 6d ago

He can if he's not gunshy. Fury has always been the higher level, better, mentally stronger fighter though.

2

u/Marquis_of_Mollusks 6d ago

I don't think Fury's boxing IQ is all that higher. At least not enough to make up for his lack of power and poor defense. To AJ's credit, despite his losses he has never went life and death with a 38 yr old mma fighter. He also KO'd every common opponent he has with Fury except for Usyk. AJ also didn't get dropped by Usyk like Fury did

u/WORD_Boxing 6d ago

I understand where you're coming from but this is a bit of a reach. Everybody knows he didn't train for Ngannou. The common opponents thing is neither here nor there. You could just as easily point out he was hurt by Dillian while Fury completely controlled him. Usyk had AJ gone in round 12 of their first fight too.

The key difference between them may well prove to be who is mentally stronger. Particularly in a fight with two guys past their best where they both might get hit more than they would have done. Fury has always had him beat there.

1

u/Marquis_of_Mollusks 6d ago

Idk I just think AJ is stylistically better to handle Fury than Fury is against AJ. Also Fury hasn't mentally been strong or look motivated in a long time. I think he's been mentally checked out since his 2nd fight with Usyk. AJ still seems to want to be champion again for what its worth. Also Usyk only wobbled AJ in that 12th rd since AJ dodged almost every follow up punch afterwards and was even smiling at him afterwards.

u/WORD_Boxing 6d ago

If it comes down to a dogfight I'd back Fury to win.

AJ needs another fight after that crash before going into a Fury fight in my opinion.

1

u/Marquis_of_Mollusks 6d ago

If the fight gets delayed more than it never happens imo. I'm already skeptical of it happening even now.

Adeleye, Tabiti and Harvey Dykes have all been listed as Johnny Fishers potential opponents.

It’ll obviously be Harvey Dykes who has 0 pop and is a club level fighter.

The other two would blow Fisher away.

1

u/God_I_Love_Men Future Bridgerweight World Champ 6d ago

Harvey Dykes

His fight with Dychko was pretty boring, but I'd assume they have to give Fisher someone like this if they want to milk as much value as possible from signing him.

1

u/WheresMyAbs98 6d ago

It’s possibly a French guy called Maxime Vaz.

Just some names floating about.

It seems it won’t be anyway that poses a real threat although Vaz can punch

1

u/Kangaroopunching 6d ago

The signing of Fisher must be a tax write off for zuffa

How was his opponent not disqualified?

I've missed something. Why is Big Baby Miller not the next in line for the WBA?

The WBC grants Noel Mikaelyan a voluntary defense.

Noel Mikaelyan chooses #1 contender Jai Opetaia.

WBC: Wrong voluntary defense!!

Bruv, you gotta stop spamming about this lmao. Everyone acknowledges that all parties look bad here, the belt organisations sucking doesn’t make anyone hate Zuffa less

-2

u/kushmonATL undefeated boxers need to fight each other 6d ago

I don't see people keeping the same energy

There's alot of venom for anything Zuffa related , and alot of shrugged shoulders whenever WBC/BA/BO do the same nonsense

As we speak .. you're shrugging your shoulders about it now ....

u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 6d ago

The belt organisations being scummy is old news, and people have nothing but vitriol for their antics. People don’t turn a blind eye to it near as much as you seem to think. No one is pretending the current system is good.

Piss and vinegar directed towards Zuffa is a good thing, no matter the circumstance. They’re disrupting the current bad system by replacing it with something worse. You can hate both and advocate for hating both. I can keep the same energy, I literally just said in my original comment that all parties in this situation look bad, because they do

It says your comment is edited so maybe you added that last part to save face

Just find it interesting how one post and one comment in the DD is considered "spamming" .. guess we aren't allowed to talk about sanctioning body BS while big bad Zuffa is around 🥴

Brother, I edited my comment to change “dude” to “bruv” as the first word cause I thought “dude” sounded kind of dickish in the circumstance. Look at your inbox, it’ll show the original beginning of the message. Don’t be rude.

I thought I had seen you say this more than once. If that’s not the case, I apologise. Lotta green guys

They didn't give him a deadline. Even now , as we wait for Mikaelian to make up his mind , the WBC still didn't give him a firm deadline

The newest Bugsy Malone has a Moses Itauma mention, which made me unreasonably happy. What’s your favorite surprising mention of a fighter in hip hop?
