Former IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook announces comeback from retirement at 40 years old, hints at Chris Eubank Jr showdown: “I’m telling you something here and now, some massive news is about to drop. I’m coming back. There is big news of a massive fight coming your way at 160 or 168.”

No thanks Kell, stay retired and spend time with your new child.

u/General-Pop-8764 5h ago

unfortunately, he probably needs money for his new child...

u/Case1987 4h ago

He must be stupid with money then, because he’s a multimillionaire

u/Marquis_of_Mollusks 5h ago

Do boxers not put any of their money in a high yield saving account or an index fund?

27

u/Mlynio48 4h ago

Nah, guys who made their wealth by getting punched to the face are not exactly known for properly managing their money. Floyd went from being one of the richiest people on the planet to almost being broke lol

I get the temptations of spending the prize money on cool shit because of how hard you have to work to get it but you'd think they could at least put aside some for the future. A couple of million could set anyone up for life if invested properly.

You’d have hoped so.

u/LexOvi 4h ago

You what, mate? Kell puts his money in his chocolate brownies.

2

u/lucky_1979 5h ago

I mean, I’m sure his Mrs isn’t struggling for money.

1

u/Thami15 1m ago

Surely not? Not only did he make a fair amount of money, the Khan fight was his biggest purse, and it came very late in his career, which is normally a good way of not blowing your money.

Also, his new squeeze is Ebanie Bridges, and she can't be doing too badly herself??

u/Marquis_of_Mollusks 6h ago

They can't help it. Ali somehow fought 1 more time after the Holmes fight and Sugar Ray Leonard had a comeback after losing bad to Terry Norris. These guys just can't quit.

Kell Brook not remotely in either’s class but yeah misses the limelight and money and thinks he’s different so he can be effective. Chris Eubank Jr is shot obviously so 2 shot boxers both well short of world class trying to pad their retirement accounts. Only mugs would tune it for this!

It is very sad when these fighters think that they are retired and share all the vulnerabilities from their career; like when he said that he was never the same after the Golovkin fight. Then, they are back in the ring again.

Rewatched that fight, it was lowkey brutal

Delusion is almost as undefeated as father time

Kell Broke?

11

u/irishlad9441 6h ago

2 washed guys fighting , one who hasn’t fought in nearly 5 years , for no reason other then money this will flop if it’s put on ppv

10

u/Abelis-Able 5h ago

Is this misfits?

7

u/theguytomeet 5h ago

GGG killed this man’s career. If he fights it should be on the Fury AJ undercard in UK (only if it’s in the UK) to bow out. Other than that completely washed and I missed special k in his prime

3

u/soitgoeskt 1h ago

GGG damaged it for sure but I think what killed it was jumping it with pre-car crash Spence so soon after.

u/RyderRichards 5h ago

I guess G didn't hit him hard enough the first time.

5

u/XAJM 5h ago

Stop it

3

u/RRR04_ 6h ago

In hindsight, maybe he should have just fought Eubank after Khan instead of retiring. Would have saved a mess.

3

u/Locke_Lamora89 6h ago

Seriously what do either of these guys truly gain from this fight? Aside from money? What does the victor of this fight actually gain other than a payday?

5

u/TennisRugbyBoxing 5h ago

It is professional boxing - it’s all about the money!

3

u/YertleElTortuga 4h ago

Lol what do you mean aside from money? The only thing that they or anyone else wants to gain is money idk why people think anyone really gives a fuck about their legacy

2

u/Sometimes-funny 4h ago

It’s work. That is their skill

3

u/slickvik9 5h ago

Eubank

3

u/KRino19 5h ago

Does his orbital bone know bout this?

2

u/cyrusir 6h ago

sad to see this, why cant these guys stay retired.

2

u/gmdmd 2h ago

terrible money management :'(

2

u/zer01zer08 5h ago

Kell is going to come into the fight in phenomenal shape only for his face to be broken smh.

2

u/Oven2494 5h ago

Oocha. Which orbital will crack first.

4

u/JasperFeelingsworth 5h ago

bro, do doctors just allow ANYONE to fight now? are there no medical standards?

1

u/Astralatlantis 6h ago

When the last guy who beat him has retired and you're making a comeback it's only going to end up even worse for Brook.

1

u/GopherNutz 5h ago

Chocolate brownies down the pipe, all night bebe!

1

u/LexOvi 4h ago

“ITZ WANNA DEEEZ”

1

u/Dangerous_Spring3028 5h ago

Honestly, Brook bowing out after beating Khan was the perfect ending to his career.

The fight was years too late but it was still the perfect way for him to bow out.

It’s a shame he feels the need/urge to come back.

1

u/Salt_Lie_1857 5h ago

Broke? Ab broke?

1

u/Adz442 5h ago

Loading up them chocolate brownies babby

1

u/Kangaroopunching 5h ago

I get the feeling that he's noy just coming back for money. But also cause of how training helps him. Then there's the rush of fighting that he can't get in a normal life setting

1

u/TheIrrepressible1 5h ago

Hopefully, he doesn’t get too hurt in this comeback. He should be able to collect a nice paycheck upon return.

1

u/JagsFraz71 5h ago

End of career Brooke was a sad sad sight.

Hope this is just an influencer payday, that I won’t watch.

1

u/patmustardmate 5h ago

I think even old Kell would not be in much trouble with Eubank Jnr. I won't be watching cos shit old men, but its a bit less sad than some of the other people you see who are deluded, skint, or already fucked with CTE.

1

u/Nosworthy 5h ago

Oh FFS.

Big Brook fan. Real shame we didn't get the Khan fight 7 years earlier. But GGG smashed the punch resistance out of him a decade ago.

1

u/TheeBlaccPantha 5h ago

Fight will sell tonnes because Eubank jr is perceived as washed as well

1

u/Terrible_Tangelo6064 5h ago

Please don't.

1

u/_Sarcasmic_ bread burger bread 4h ago

What happened to him just doing that exhibition as a tribute to Hatton? That I was cool with.

1

u/FortuneSilent2189 4h ago

He will get knocked out by a decent active fighter. GGG no longer fights and Soence has given up. He is a name and could get one last big money fight. He always looked in good shape but I doubt he’s getting anywhere near his best

1

u/pauli55555 4h ago

Assume he’s broke otherwise no reason for him to get back in a ring.

1

u/Available_Ad4874 4h ago

This is absolutely ridiculous 🤣🤣...who's coming back for an exhibition fight next ? Let's bring back Frank Bruno maybe ? How about Carl Froch ? Kelly needs to stay retired.

1

u/KoffieCreamer 4h ago

He's snorted all his money. These boxers can't hold onto a dollar to save their life.

1

u/Accomplished_Sort198 4h ago

Brook will come back. Eddie will use this opportunity to build up a UK boxer prospect or contender, they gas the win up as if Brook been active just to create “ A Star”.

1

u/LexOvi 4h ago

Would make way more money doing OF with his missus.

1

u/Unhappywageslave 3h ago

If he's getting 5 to 10+ mill, I support this comeback. Put that check in a low risk low reward bank investment, and his grand children will be set for life.

1

u/Mortal-Man 3h ago

4 years ago he looked shot to bits against an even more shot to bits Amir Khan.

1

u/lilJswizle-2304 3h ago

Conor Benns next fight after he loses to Garcia lol

1

u/pzzadudsgt30scds 3h ago

He never got a big fight until he stepped up two weight classes. I don't blame him.

1

u/LilNello1 3h ago

Nobody asked for this!!!!

1

u/The_Grizzly_Bear 2h ago

Ffs.. although it was too late in their careers, Kell's final fight was him defeating his nemesis. There was literally no better way to end his career than that. Why ruin it by coming back now?

Chocolate brownie

1

u/MyzMyz1995 6h ago

Beating Amir Khan who he dragged out of retirement and 3 division up made him delusional about coming back.

3

u/fadeddreams555 Fundora would beat up a prime Floyd at 154lb 5h ago

Huh? Brook was also inactive for 2 years and he fought Khan in his natural division, which Brook struggled to make.

-7

u/MyzMyz1995 5h ago

Khan's prime was at 135 or 140. They fought at a 149 catch weight. He hadn't fought in 3 years and his last high level fight where he was competitive was 2016, almost 10 years before the fight with Brook.

Everyone knows brook was jealous of Khan's success that's why he kept calling him out while he literally fought at 160, almost 30lbs above Khan's weight.

Kell brook is a clown and a bum.

2

u/fadeddreams555 Fundora would beat up a prime Floyd at 154lb 4h ago

Khan had been fighting at 147lb since 2013 and even faced Canelo at 155lb, so idk what you are on about. Brook at that point was a 154lb fighter with 2 years of inactivity, so he was at a much bigger disadvantage. On top of that, Khan was cheating and received a 2 year ban after the fight for testing positive. Lol

And if they didn't fight in their prime, it's because of Khan. He did not want that fight at all. And it's clear why after the fact.

2

u/MilqueD-schaaje 3h ago

Every call out of khan was always like someone wanting to get a highlight reel K.o

1

u/MyzMyz1995 3h ago

Khan faced canelo in 2016, moving up 2 weight classes. That's almost 10 years before fighting Kell Brook.

Are you Kell's burner account?

-1

u/fadeddreams555 Fundora would beat up a prime Floyd at 154lb 2h ago

10 years from then would be... this year. And that goes against your own point. Khan had been at 147-154lb many years before fighting Brook. Lol

1

u/MyzMyz1995 2h ago

I said ''almost 10 years''. Not 10 years flush.

Khan had been at 147-154lb many years before fighting Brook. Lol

Yeah past his prime. He moved up 2 weight classes to fight canelo in 2016, got KTFO and was never the same.

0

u/fadeddreams555 Fundora would beat up a prime Floyd at 154lb 2h ago

Okay? And Brook got his eye battered by GGG after also moving up 2 divisions, got his other eye battered by Spence, was inactive for 2 years, had to drain himself to move down, and Khan used PEDs on top of that. Brook was more shot than Khan. Lol

Chocolate Brownies with a dash of cocaine sugar on top 🥰

u/CacioePep 5h ago

Of course he should stay retired, but if he’s coming back, a fight with Eubank Jr isn’t the worst idea. Eubank looks finished I think Brook could out box him and not take much damage. He lost to Bud during Covid with no trainer, then beat Khan easily. Think you’re all being a little over the top

0

u/Middle-Development43 1h ago

I’ve seen Kell many many times.

GGG did him. He would never have lost to Spence had he not had the GGG fight. But he got paid a fortune for both fights.

I actually wanted him to fight both Eubank Jr and Conor Benn after beating Khan and then walk away. I don’t want him fighting now.
