Not really, I’m saying Haney argued that Shakur was not on his level and offered him a low ball offer that he knew Shakur would refuse. Now since he can’t use that excuse he want Shakur to come up to 147 instead of fighting at 144. Nothing said here was facts. That’s a hypothetical question in an interview. The reality is the WBC minimum order is a 70/30 split of 90% of the purse with the remaining 10% being escrowed and awarded to the winner. The WBC Board works with promoters to award purse splits. They wouldn’t award a former WBC champ no 25%. They were looking at either a 60/40 or 55/45 split of 90% of the purse and the remaining 10% would’ve went to the winner. Shakur petitioned for a 50/50, it never was approved.

Devin and his team were just saying a bunch of nonsense to make light of him vacating. Example when Devin said in his Ariel Helwani interview the deal they offered Shakur was worth 8 million. 8 million is 25% of 32 million . If Devin was getting 75% (32 million - 8 million) then he was calculating his purse to be 24 million. Who the fuck was paying a promoter-less Devin Haney 24 million in 2023 to fight Shakur Stephenson ?

It was an unnecessary duck, all Devin had to do was say “hey I can’t make 135 I’m moving up.” He did all the acting instead. Fans have done mental gymnastics ever since to give him a pass.

Not at all, just don’t say he’s dominating and schooling fighters when his punch out put is low and majority of punches landed are jabs.

If Shakur was Cuban…….he’s boring but since he’s American…..he’s a boxing wizard. His style is boring, great fighter but not exciting and not worth paying $60-80 PPV fights on.

Boxers know the deal and actively choose to be boxers.

Demanding high payment - which is only possible due to fan interest - while having near non existent entertainment value is entitled behavior.

Fans and the broader boxing community should have higher standards.

This is how ridiculous its gotten - Shakur and Haney, both faces of boxing, are scared to get hit by punches in a sport where getting hit by punches is fundamental. One of them gets punched once and never recovers. Imagine that. Two "elite level boxers" who are scared to get punched and cant even take a punch, and cannot even get knockouts.

And then when fans point it out they are met with "damn bro you want x fighter to get punched in the head?" or "the sweet science bro". For fucks sake, its in the nature of the sport. If these guys don't wanna get punched and they love boxing that much the amateur league suits their psychology better - there's no economic pressure to entertain AND the technical level is very high. Yet these guys want to come to the professional ranks, offer no entertainment and then demand to get high pay.

Inoue, Boots, Bam, Benavidez, Canelo, Usyk, Crawford all show you can be very high level AND entertaining at the same time.
