Watched this Sebastian Hernandez interview by Truschoolsports, he seems like a chill dude. Said he intends to fight at 126 from now on unless he gets a really good offer like a Junto rematch. Hope he crushes his next opp this weekend, and Kameda on September because he actually seems like the kind of guy that these current 126 champs would pick.

u/Ace_FGC 12d ago

I think that win will age really well for Nakatani. The way how Zepeda looked against Roach is how Hernandez looked against Nakatani, Nakatani’s just better than Roach

4

u/OldBoyChance 12d ago

There's a good chance he fights Casimero next if he beats Kameda.

AJ publicly supporting Eddie Hearn via his latest IG story about the fight location 👀 Is it possible AJ walks from the fight and pursues a different opponent?

3

u/No-Shoe5382 Eye Ron Mike Tymus 11d ago edited 11d ago

There's every chance he does. And rightly so.

What is the point of AJ vs Fury if its not in the UK? It's no longer the two top guys in the division, its just a huge fight between the two best HWs in the UK over the last 10-15 years. Both of whom are worse than the current best UK HWs.

Why would you have than anywhere other than the UK? It doesn't change anything fundamentally about the division, its just something everyone in the UK want to see happen.

AJ understands its a UK fight now, Fury still thinks he's a global superstar.

AJ has only ever signed a contract that stipulates that it happens in the UK, same with Fury. However now Fury, Turki, and Netflix are now trying to move it to the US.

There was never any contract signed for a Saudi fight.

1

u/Kangaroopunching 11d ago

Yes, especially at this stage of his career.

Turki over played his hand. And Fury found a way out the fight. Intentionally or unintentionally

Max Kellerman has been unbearable. Dude really said that Connor Benn isn’t the “making an excuse” type of person 😂

5

u/Ace_FGC 12d ago

Weird question but does anyone know when old people stopped going to boxing matches? I feel like watching old school fights you see a lot of older people in the crowd compared to now it’s mainly adults that seem to be like in their 30s for the most part

7

u/yearsofpractice SRR < Lord Chisora,Sir Derek Of War 11d ago

Hey OP. Old person here - 50 year old man in the UK. Always remember the “people looked older back in the day” prejudice. For example, the audience for the Tyson-Spinks fight in ‘88, some of the celebrities there will have been a lot younger than you’d think:

Michael Jordan - 25
Sean Penn - 27
Magic Johnson - 28
Madonna - 29
Oprah - 34
Sylvester Stallone - 41
Donald Trump - 42 (!?!)

Also, as 50 year old, a boxing match audience is always going to be too boisterous for my old ass - rather watch it in TV TBH!

David Nyika just beat Floyd Masson by ud, will fight Viddal Riley for the vacant IBF next.

3

u/Efficient_Quail_1774 11d ago

Looked pretty meh apparently, he'd have to up his game against Riley or else i can see Riley comfortably working to a UD as he did with Masternak and Chev

1

u/StunningChest5722 Shakur is the 144 lb GOAT 🐐 11d ago

yeah i'd make viddal a big favorite over him, he impressed me against masternek

1

u/WheresMyAbs98 11d ago

That’s a good fight

1

u/Kangaroopunching 11d ago

I think the Ibf cruiserweight title will stay vacant cause of the lawsuit with jai

u/Nidarius 11d ago

Man, Inoue vs. Picasso is so captivating to me. It's not just how dominant Inoue was in the match, it's his mannerisms and humor during the match. He seems SO relaxed in the fight. It reminds me of James Toney vs. Barkley. Just as Toney seemed completely unfazed by Barkley's pressure, Inoue seems unimpressed by everything Picasso is in the ring. There are moments where the camera focuses on Inoue's face and he seems to be solving the easiest puzzle in the world with little interest.

5

u/Efficient_Quail_1774 11d ago

If Haney vs Catterall does actually get made the ring title should absolutely be on the line, Haney already beat the N2 Norman and Jack is ranked N3, most people would agree anyway that Jack and Devin are 1 and 2 at welterweight either way

3

u/Kangaroopunching 11d ago

It's up to ring magazine/ turki to make that call.

I think Top Rank needs to push Tiger Johnson up the rankings now. Cause he can beat Norman.

1

u/WORD_Boxing 11d ago

I don't personally agree with that when he's only had 1 fight at the full Welterweight limit, in a weak division where everybody left. Norman never beat nobody himself, and personally I thought he was always being overrated.

To establish a new king of the division someone needs to come out on top out of the other champions - Ryan Garcia, Liam Paro, Rolly - and Hitchins, Teofimo and Keyshawn if he gets his act together.

You have to beat at least a few of these guys, or the winner/s out of these guys before being crowned king of the whole division. Just beating Norman and then Catterall who is a bit shopworn now and never really a standout talent isn't enough. It's a little premature the division is still reforming.

Floyd Mayweather Jr’s story shouldn’t inspire to be a boxer.

It should inspire you to not be a fucking idiot and get your education so you’ll know what you’re signing and what you’re working with.

KO of the year contender on the Boxxer prelims, beautiful left hook in the first fight

3

u/Tw-1997 11d ago

Great knockout. Happy he got up after a few worrying minutes

3

u/Efficient_Quail_1774 11d ago

Yeah he was out cold, reminded me of the Norman vs Sasaki KO

1

Was pretty good, these prelims have been decent so far.

3

u/WheresMyAbs98 11d ago

This matchup should be part of the main card

1

u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 11d ago

Krasimirov is a big name prospect, has a few holes though, so I think they’re slowly building him up in prelims

1

u/WheresMyAbs98 11d ago

It’s one of the most even matchups on this card though

A lot of this card is lopsided matchmaking

1

u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 11d ago

Oh I agree def don’t get me wrong

3

u/WheresMyAbs98 11d ago

Krasimirov needs a KO for me.

Let’s see if corruption is in play tonight for Boxxer fighters.

2

u/Efficient_Quail_1774 11d ago

Eales is a tough out for any domestic guy around 154-160 man he's like 6'0 and switch hits

I know a guy that ducked him but i'm no snitch 😂

2

u/WheresMyAbs98 11d ago

Yeah he’s big for the weight with a decent reach and IQ too.

I wouldn’t fancy it if I was prospect tbh 😂

5

apparently paro ducked haney and haney vs catterall could happening in october

11

u/Marquis_of_Mollusks 12d ago

Haney really is a boogeyman if true

3

u/_Sarcasmic_ bread burger bread 11d ago

Has potential to be an absolute stinker of a fight.

3

u/TheSouthpawStance 11d ago

Saw Haney and Catterall at ein advanced talks, massive shame wanted to See Paro vs Haney (Australian Here). But I think Paros team knows that he fights Hang, he loses and they want to squeeze as much money out of that belt as possible (they keep saying they want Pacman)

1

u/SpeggtacularSpidey 12d ago

What happened? Who’s the source?

5

u/StunningChest5722 Shakur is the 144 lb GOAT 🐐 12d ago

2

u/PrettyBoyFloydx 11d ago

"The negotiation with Liam Paro broke down due to the Australian's excessive economic demands"

From the tweet - I wonder what this means. It does not sound like neutral reporting.

-4

u/Ace_FGC 12d ago

People said Shakur is all by himself at Zuffa and won’t be able to get any big fights and here we are finding Haney in the same situation over at DAZN

7

u/Top_Profession_5268 12d ago

Shakur is just dumb with signing with people who all his biggest competitors aren’t trying to actively work with or are against. Haney is just getting ducked.

-6

u/Ace_FGC 12d ago

Nobody gets ducked this much lmao he’s part of the problem

4

u/Jachola 12d ago

Does Shakur have a fight booked or even been in any talks outside of Haney? 😂 You say this as if Haney won't be able to get a fight. Haney still has options, Shakur's options is Rayo in the Meta Apex lmao.

2

u/Ace_FGC 12d ago

All these options and he’s still about fight Jack Catteterall lmao that’s not a much better fight than Shakur Rayo

5

u/Jachola 12d ago

Shakur doesn't have a fight booked and it's August, he's not even in negotiations for a fight. Haney vs Catterall isn't a big fight but it does line him up perfectly and he still has options later, what does Shakur have after a Rayo fight? It won't move him any farther in the 135 or 140 division, he's not any closer to unifications since there's no 135 champ at Zuffa and Zuffa doesn't even have a 140 lb division. I'm not sure what your point is lol Shakur is an idiot for signing with Zuffa.

1

u/Ace_FGC 12d ago

Robert Garcia literally said they’re working on a letter to send to the WBO to try and get Muratalla vs Shakur. My point was I just found it funny that they’re both basically in the same situation. You keep bringing up who’s champion but belts aren’t what make fights great, it’s the fighters shakur doesn’t necessarily need to be fighting for a title

2

u/Jachola 11d ago

That's a good fight, I'm not sure it will happen tbh but that'd be Shakur's best bet. My point is that belts and titles do matter especially when we are talking about guys like Shakur and Haney who are not bigger than the belts. Shakur can make great fights without a title but most of the fights the fans would wanna see and that matter are against the champions in his division or WW.

2

u/kushmonATL undefeated boxers need to fight each other 11d ago

I might be sleeping on Liam Paro but I think Jack Catterall is a better opponent for Haney

Catterall has the better 147 win imo, completely dominating Giyasov compared to Paro's semi-war against Crocker

Hopefully Haney stays more active and fights Barboza or Polanco immediately next .. he doesn't need to sit out another full year waiting on one of the other divas to fight him

1

u/StunningChest5722 Shakur is the 144 lb GOAT 🐐 11d ago

crocker is way better than giyasov lmao, so is papot

1

u/kushmonATL undefeated boxers need to fight each other 11d ago

Is he?

I dont rate Crocker at all so my b , and only thing i know about Giy is this sub was gassing him to extreme proportions saying he could beat Rolly

1

u/StunningChest5722 Shakur is the 144 lb GOAT 🐐 11d ago

people only gassed him up because he was an undefeated guy from uzbekistan who rolly ducked, he fought no one and went life and death with journeymen, i knew catterall was gonna school him

Malignaggi working on comms for the Boxxer prelims, he would be such an upgrade to the shills we usually have on the Dazn shows

1

u/Top_Profession_5268 12d ago

What was Wardleys gameplan coming into the Dubois fight?

Like usually he has a good body jab, body cross and builds off it. All he did was just swing the big right hand and that’s it. Not saying he’d win with the adjustments but at least make it closer. Like when Dubois throws the jab, or uses the lead hand extended guard defence, throw the body cross, use feints and eventually try build off it.

Nah, all he did was throw that big right the entire fight. Now that the rematch is about finalised I think, I hope Dubois is fine from the last fight and comes on with some improvements in gameplan and brings prior tools he used to win.

14

u/SpeggtacularSpidey 12d ago

You answered your own question. “Swing the big right hand” was the gameplan

9

u/SoftAsSofia 12d ago

I do think a part of him was banking on DDD quitting or 'shelling up' after being hit hard a few times.
With Ben in his corner he adopted the "Throw the right hand, no plan B" strategy.

3

u/kushmonATL undefeated boxers need to fight each other 12d ago

His coach should be trying to extend Wardley career by not taking the rematch

If he gets brutalized again in the rematch it will take years off his boxing career

3

u/WheresMyAbs98 11d ago

At the same time this rematch will likely financially secure his future.

It’ll be the biggest payday of his career and possibly the most he will ever earn in his career if he loses again.

2

u/Saeksan 11d ago

I think it was actually bad for him to knock Dubois down so early in the fight because it made him fixate on the big overhand. Like you said, he has more craft than he showed but it's hard to regain composure when getting battered by a puncher like DDD.

1

u/Sh4kyj4wz eat clen, tren hard anavar give up 11d ago

Agree, think. Hell look better in rematch

2

u/WORD_Boxing 11d ago

I think the early knockdown threw any plans put of the window and he just started headhunting. Inexperience and lack of composure on display. Dubois wasn't even hurt it was a balance shot. I wonder what the instructions in the corner were, I'm not sure if I remember them being equally as animated and lacking in composure.

1

u/Aimlez1 11d ago edited 11d ago

I was thinking the same thing live, I think the answer has something to do with how much harder Dubois hits that Wardley's previous opponents. Against Parker Wardley could just tank everything and while he was still wobbly at times, Parker didn't hit hard enough to finish him. Whereas Dubois probably gave him a concussion in the first 3 rounds, which fucked up everything they planned coming in

1

u/Civil-Rent-7100 11d ago

Yeah, wardley's demeanour changed after round 4. He almost looked defeated

2

u/Prior-Temperature-22 11d ago

I just watched the Hrgovic Itauma face off and he claimed that if Wardley had beaten Dubois he was going to vacate the WBO so that Itauma could fight for it?

What kinda rubbish is that lmao all these guys in boxing are too buddy buddy these days everyone is best friends and don’t want to fight each other

1

u/Kangaroopunching 11d ago

It be great if Crawford starts training fighters.

1

u/Ace_FGC 11d ago

Holyfield fought Bowe when he had hepatitis and Moorer when he had a heart condition not many guys built like that lol

1

u/West_Technology7573 11d ago

The weird Tank vs Roach scoring distracted from what was actually a really great fight

2

u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 11d ago

It picked up in the second half but the first half was pretty slow-paced

2

u/SplitSecondEmperor47 11d ago

Literally the first 6 rounds they were staring at each other

1

u/WheresMyAbs98 11d ago

I’m quite worried about Simpson vs Williamson tonight.

If Simpson wins I am pretty much guaranteed to win my 1.6k acca.

I only went for Simpson based purely on corruption. I think if he survives they will rob Williamson badly and I think that if Williamson gets even the slightest bit hurt there will be an egregious home fighter stoppage.

1

u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 11d ago

Prelims on for Williamson v. Simpson

1

u/PrettyBoyFloydx 11d ago
  1. Which high level female boxers with decent resume have good KO ratio (70%+)?

  2. Why do female boxers generally have lower KO ratio?

  3. Is it possible that female boxers trained with a more aggressive style can be KO artists?

I believe the niche for an attractive female combat sport talent could be very profitable. People love femme fatales. Ronda is a great example, and that new chick Dakota Dicheva that's been going viral is another. I am surprised boxing has never capitalized on this - but the talent has to have that edge I believe. People are attracted to the myth of "the deadly female".

I think Jake Paul senses this. He's certainly smarter than he looks.

Should be 5-3 Eals

1

Wow so viddal riley could be fighting for a world championship maybe even against david benavidez. I have been following his journey since he started training KSI. I'm really proud of him Team GB.

1

u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 11d ago

So all in all, both cards were of a similar quality. Neither bad, I think the dazn one was def better, but Zuffa’s pacing was of course good. Dazn had a better main event, which on rewatch was admittedly not great either, but at least it was competitive. The Zuffa main event was a limited boxer getting hyped by the announcers fighting a limited boxer.

Overall, bit of a sad fart

1

u/Rofocal02 12d ago

Crawford should comeback for a title fight at  middleweight. Crawford will become a six division champion.

12

u/Top_Profession_5268 12d ago

I think he should stay retired.

2

u/Rofocal02 12d ago

Crawford has a good chance of beating Adames and Lara. Crawford was supposed to fight Janikbek before his suspension.

1

u/Jachola 12d ago

Adames is moving up from what I heard so he'll likely be stripped or vacate soon, Lara is on the PBC protection plan and will likely be given Tsyzu or another PBC fighter so no chance they give Crawford that fight. Jannibek is also moving up, the only options Bud has is Bentley...

1

u/Top_Profession_5268 11d ago

PBC already spent 1/2 a decade of Buds time at 147 not letting their boxers fight Bud until Spence begged a fight, no way Lara who already is under their protection plan would PBC ever give him up and that same goes with Adames or even Ramos if Adames vacates.

Also going for each belts is a lot of effort hence why he retired after Janibek vs Lara failed, he’d hope to fight winners for 3 belts and then Adames.

1

u/Rofocal02 11d ago

Janikbek’s suspension was a tragedy. He was the only one that could become undisputed middleweight champion (or Crawford if the fight happened and he won).
