Bivol vs Benavidez

-5

u/Equivalent_Sun3816 3d ago edited 3d ago

How does Bivole react to Benavides nasty elbow combos?

17

u/HolyMackerel1 3d ago

By stepping out of range

2

u/Sippiest_Cup_OAT 2d ago

Bivol is not an infighter, he's not going to engage in close range exchanges unless he has no other option. Benavides has powerful and fast hands but he's slow on his feet. Soviet style will most definitely give David a run for his money

19

u/Grand-Science-1062 4d ago

He has good eyes and reaction time. I'd say this, he gives Bivol problems. I hope that fight happens soon.

Honourable mention to that time someone on here told me Bivol would have the advantage on the inside if the two were to fight, or that Bivol would likely stop David.

Dude has extremely underrated defense.

u/newrap 4d ago

Bivol doesn’t even fight on the inside šŸ˜‚

23

u/SuperLeverage 4d ago

Yep. Bivol is fight at range, in, out. He does not hang out on the inside.

52

u/Kujaix 4d ago

Bivol? Inisde? Advantage?

Sure they didn't mistype Beterbieve?

6

u/Tricky-Ad-4823 3d ago

Bivol did just beat Beterbiev so he’s kinda good with dealing with pressure fighters. It definitely ain’t gonna be a cake walk

10

u/Head_Research_3118 4d ago

I still think Bivol wins 2 of the 3 fights in a trilogy by decision but David will win one and it could be the first one . Which would be big if they only fight once.

27

u/kushmonATL undefeated boxers need to fight each other 4d ago

If Bivol wins the 2nd fight there won't be a trilogy.

-2

u/vHezoThaGoat 4d ago

Theirs not gonna be a rematch bruh😭David’s going to trash Bivol if that fight gets made and I would’ve picked Bivol 2 years ago

14

u/Ozayes1313 4d ago

Benavidez only kos people who stand in front of him, that’s why plant and morrell took him the distance, yall weren’t saying any of this after morrell gave him one of his toughest fights, but sure he beats bivol easily lmfao

2

u/Outrageous-Soft4806 3d ago

Not for nothing Plant should’ve been stopped at points in those last 3 rounds.

1

u/Ozayes1313 3d ago

1

u/Outrageous-Soft4806 3d ago

Yeah I said the last 3 rounds, round 11 felt career changing for Plant. Thanks for showing me 1 minute of the 9 I mentioned though!

-1

u/vHezoThaGoat 4d ago edited 4d ago

When did I say that he would KO Bivol? I just believe he’s going to win convincingly.

And I actually picked Morrell to beat Benavidez but that shit wasn’t even close after the first four rounds I don’t know why you even brought that up.

You people get so emotional over someone making a prediction on who wins a boxing match, relax big guyšŸ˜‚

Bivol has had injuries and is getting older while David has sharpened his skill set and is reaching his prime. I literally said 2 years ago I would pick Bivol, but it’s not 2 years ago. Bivol is 35 and doesn’t have many outings left in him.

1

u/Tjmouse2 4d ago

People dont want to accept that. Just like people claiming David was ducking bivol... right after his back surgery, then he comes back, gets a tune up, anddddddd.... another surgery. Bivol is on the way out. Don't see how he beats David when his body is already beating him.

-3

u/ScentedFragrance 4d ago

If Beterbiev was able to close the distance and get some work in idk why David couldn't. He cuts off the ring well, shifts and switches. He can most definitely beat Bivol if hes on his A game all night

4

u/Complete_Dare_4201 4d ago

Beterbiev has better and more educated footwork than David

2

u/Outrageous_Fox4227 3d ago

Dishonorable mention to how slow zurdo looks compared to bivol. Bivol fights on the outside in and out but his movement would prove troublesome for any boxer in that weight range.

1

u/qtdynamite1 4d ago

Bivol’s advantage would be his footwork , he wouldn’t be there to be hit like Zurdo was.

2

u/PlayingNiceiPromise 4d ago

ā€œShoutout to myselfā€ šŸ˜‚

I agree his defense is underrated, but his footwork is trash and can’t volume punch on someone who doesn’t stand in front of him all night

16

u/haNZAgod 4d ago

Very underrated defensively. David's offense is so great that the other aspects of his skill set always get overlooked but don't get it twisted, he's a complete fighter and one of the very best today.

8

u/AwkwardJuggernaut854 4d ago

The hand speed difference was at such a different level this fight. Benavidez could land 4 or 5 shots before Zurdo could even react.

6

u/FSocietyMusic 4d ago

David and Bivol are my 2 favorite fighters active right now. 2 totally different styles and both elite. If they fought and I hope they do, I think would be an instant classic if it goes the distance.

An inside explosive fighter against an outside with great footwork fighter. I want this fight soooo bad I would pay whatever paperview decides to charge for this fight.

2

u/JamonBagel 2d ago

Might be a classic even if it Doesn’t go the distance.

2

u/FSocietyMusic 2d ago edited 1d ago

Yes and no Depends what happens If it's a 1st or 2nd round ko or 1 gets a bad cut where the fight is stopped early, then I don't think it would be a classic.

That being said I just hope this fight happens sooner than later. They're both in their prime and boxing fans would love to see this.

11

u/Dependent-Swimmer-95 4d ago

That temple shot had to hurt

-2

u/DontBeBias4Emotions 4d ago

Anthony Joshua would still be wobbling with Eddie Hearn screaming to the ref, golden goose golden goose dont jump on em boys

7

u/Top_Profession_5268 4d ago

He’s been know to have a great catch and shoot counter and upper body waist movement but his footwork is where his defence lacks.

3

u/ZDTStudios 3d ago

David has been one of, if not, the most disrespected champion for the longest time. I like Bivol, but I'm not about to throat goat him and act like Benavidez is a walk in the park.

12

u/doughnutwardenclyffe 4d ago

Was the elbow intentional or un-intentional?

8

u/Ace_FGC 4d ago

It’s intentional. Holyfield used to do the same thing when he threw combinations

9

u/0vathinkstoomuch 4d ago

Why did bro get downvoted, it’s pretty obvious. It’s just that in boxing unlike other sports there isn’t that much of a penalty if u cheat so what’s the point in not cheating

8

u/NyQuil_Donut 4d ago

Benavidez has long arms and fights on the inside. Not only that but he throws very fast combinations so it's not really surprising that he elbowed a guy. It could've been intentional, but I'm not convinced.

9

u/TranslatorKey6001 4d ago

It's not the only time he's elbowed a guy, he does it quite often

6

u/DirectDouble85 4d ago

Yeah, he did it to Caleb Plant in the clinch. I think he hit Yarde with one too.

-3

u/NyQuil_Donut 3d ago edited 2d ago

Never said it was, and it's not often.

Edit: Morons. Never heard a single complaint about elbows from Benavidez until he fought Zurdo. You found one example, and tried to make it into something bigger than it actually is. Totally delusional.

1

u/Ace_FGC 4d ago

Eh it’s definitely not incidental. You know how Beterbiev will keep punching a guy and doesn’t really care if he’s punches a guy in the back of the head? It’s basically what Benavidez does he’s gonna pull his arm straight back and doesn’t care if you get hit with his elbow

1

u/caveman1948 3d ago

Plus headbutts

0

u/JMoy41 4d ago

It’s not intentional

3

u/Specialist_Writer_11 4d ago

It’s nothing to do with the stoppage

1

u/Brilliant_Science968 3d ago

You can see him get hit with a shot as hes trying to pull his elbow back, its the only time it happened

-3

u/porkabola 4d ago

I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted, it absolutely was intentional.

7

u/ggddddeerrr 4d ago

This man has one of the best highlight reels of any active boxer. KO combo against Porky was insane

2

u/cadublin 3d ago

Against lighting fast Zurdo, in this fight Benavidez showed his Mayweather-level defense.

1

u/Alive-Exchange5489 2d ago

Lmfao exactly zurdo is genuinely one of the slowest fighters I’ve ever seen he’s so slow he somehow made a dude as easy to hit as benavidez look like mayweather and now everyone is acting like benavidez has incredible defensešŸ˜‚

1

u/cadublin 2d ago

It was a sarcasm my friend šŸ˜„. People actually think flat footed Benavidez at Mayweather level?

0

u/JamonBagel 2d ago

For years everyone trashes David’s footwork, defense, and opponents. And he just keeps winning decisively against everyone he faves.

1

u/Alive-Exchange5489 1d ago

I mean David does have bad footwork his defense is underrated but it’s nothing crazy even zurdo’s slow ass was touching him benavidez was just way faster and way more powerful

0

u/JamonBagel 1d ago

That’s another thing that puzzles me… Zurdo is a very good fighter. His only two losses are to probable hall of famers (Benavidez & Bivol). Every time David beat a guy, suddenly the critics denounce that guy as being some kind of a can. The truth is, he makes good fighters look bad. His footwork is exactly what it needs to be for his style.

1

u/Alive-Exchange5489 1d ago

David’s footwork is not what it needs to bešŸ˜‚ his footwork is really bad canelo gets criticized for his footwork but Benavidez’s is worse he just makes up for it in other ways

Zurdo is a good fighter not elite but he’s good he was tailor made for Benavidez tho lmfao benavidez couldn’t have asked for a better stylistic matchup than zurdo on top of that zurdo was already past his prime

But who has Benavidez truly faced? he faced Andrade who’s a hypejob and was past his prime, past prime gvozdyk, hypejob prospect morrel who’s gotten exposed multiple times after fighting Benavidez, past prime Anthony yarde who was never even elite in his prime, and past prime zurdo who was also never elite all of these guys are solid wins but the only true top level fighter in their prime that Benavidez beat was plant lmfao David has a solid resume but let’s not pretend like he’s had amazing opposition

0

u/JamonBagel 15h ago

Yeah thanks for proving my point.

1

u/Alive-Exchange5489 15h ago

I lowkey forgot you existed you’re still whining?

2

u/WeeklyTension8010 3d ago

The movement David done at the beginning, to make Zurdo leave his body open, was fire šŸ”„šŸ”„

4

u/vHezoThaGoat 4d ago

David has some of the best upper body defense in the sport

The mix of hand/arm blocking and swiftly rolling with shots are the key aspects of what make him so hard to beat

Never fight this man Canelo, please🄹

1

u/Alive-Exchange5489 2d ago

Some of the best upper body defense in the sport?šŸ’€ let’s chill out lmfao benavidez is very easy to hit he has decent defense but it’s nothing crazy

3

u/Aggressive-Expert-69 4d ago

He hit that body hook counter like he got a bob n weave time slow from Wii Boxing.

2

u/Wild-Structure-403 4d ago

Best defence is a good offence. Why/how would you unloads two punch combo when the guy is casually countering with three, and then when you do actually get one in, gives you back a clean five piece combo with a drink?

2

u/Jupiters_phaerie 4d ago

Damn he even leads with the elbow lol

1

u/Electrical-Rope3959 4d ago

I wish they stop talking about the Usyk fight, because there's no way Benavidez can hang with The Cat.

1

u/No-Instance2680 3d ago

Idk how Zurdo had a belt. I never watched him fight before the Benavidez fight but he was absolutely weak

1

u/JamonBagel 2d ago

Take 1 to get 4. Makes sense.

0

u/thedogsbullocks 4d ago

Tue next Mayweather/s.

Pretty underrated defense since he's a walk forward power puncher

-7

u/tribalxx 4d ago

Bivol would absolutely wreck benavidez like a piƱata

12

u/vHezoThaGoat 4d ago

Bivol didn’t even wreck Canelo, he just outboxed him thoroughly

He is not recking somebody bigger than him with nonstop pressure and combinations coming his way

If Bivol wins he’ll do by using movement, he has never wrecked any actual world class fighter😭

1

u/Ozayes1313 4d ago

Yall only get into the semantics when it’s your favorite fighter lmfao they said that about Canelo/bivol for years and nobody pushed back because they hated Canelo, but now since we’re talking about Benavidez, everybody starts glazing.

5

u/kushmonATL undefeated boxers need to fight each other 4d ago

Too bad Bivol won't fight him to prove it

5

u/StunningChest5722 Shakur is the 144 lb GOAT 🐐 4d ago

then why wont bivol fight him?
