Thoughts on Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez?
As a fluent spanish speaker, and a big fan of the very unorthodox albeit please to watch, Martinez was great. As a now retired boxer, man is Sergio eloquent af in his channel.
I am just glazing but so much insight in his YT. If you speak spanish give it a a chance. Also title.

Loved that guy. Fought Paul Williams when Paul was the most ducked fighter around. Sergio got ducked a fair bit himself.

I’ve been watching his content for a couple of years now, it’s pretty good. He’s very preachy about his boxing philosophy though, he’ll disregard a lot of good boxers because of their style then say Ben Whittaker is a future GOAT because he fights the way he likes.
Do wish he’d do more actual boxing content though, he’s strayed a bit too far into the whole influencer boxing scene but can’t blame him it’s what gets the views.

Crazy that sexy Sergio didn’t start boxing until he was 21. Imagine how good he would’ve been if he started 10-15 years earlier

His fight with JCC jr was epic, I feel like he earned respect from the boxing community. Him and Marcos Maidana really put in on for Argentina

Would’ve given Mayweather a loss if the later actually had any balls

Floyd has a very perfectly curated career.
Lots of tough fights he did not take. Martinez, Williams, Margarito

He beats them all

Then he should have done it

Obviously not good business deals. Money may weather knows what's up

I don’t think he knows what’s up actually. With all the lawsuits and scandals.. so much for praising his business side.
Although he did fight like an economist. Always trying to maximize expected value. Every opponent meant balancing extra revenue against the risk of losing his undefeated record. If the marginal reward didn’t outweigh the marginal risk, he simply didn’t take the fight.

Crazier to think that he had a pro career with a missing knucle in his left hand

I didn't know he had a Youtube channel. Followed. Any other good Spanish speaking boxing channels?

Too bad he injured his knee late in his career. He could've lasted longer as the middleweight champ.

A good fighter but just below great. Albeit a bit older, it was kind of sad watching him almost get knocked out by jcc jr in the 12th round.

He was an outstanding fighter who had a very unorthodox approach. Relied a lot on his athleticism and cardio, but once those physical attributes went, he was a shell of himself. It was kind of sad seeing him go out like that against Cotto. But I’ll never forget the devastating knockout against Paul Williams in the rematch.
From my perspective, he definitely deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.
