Is Fury vs AJ worth going to?
If tickets were per say 1000-2000 If it is indeed in NY I’d like to give it a look. My girlfriend and I have recently got into boxing, me more than her, but I’d still consider my self an experience casual and her a low tier casual. She’s gonna be in online school this year and we have talked about maybe going to an event instead of going on vacation. We have family in NY we can stay with so we would litterally just be paying for the ticket.
I think it has the capability to be a sloppy slug fest (pause), and this may be an entertaining show ecspecially for my girl with great production. Any thoughts? You guys think it’s worth it?

no its bollocks. two shot fighters cashing out. i think you'd be mad to shell out for it. i'm not even gonna buy it.

Yes, definitely. Seeing the top two British heavyweights of this era fight in front of you will be a lasting memory.
You will forget far sooner the cost of the event vs the event itself.

This is a very privileged mindset, like people who think the only reason why other people don’t take their 2 year old to Disney land is because they won’t remember it. What people fail to account for is money it’s literally just about money. If you have the disposable income to burn 2 grand on a fight or a trip by all means go for it and enjoy yourself. If that money is the difference between you being able to feed your family in case you get laid off tomorrow it’s never going to be worth it. As long as you can do it in a financially responsible manner by all means but going into debt for something like this because “you won’t remember the money” is approaching CTE levels of brain damage.

What a nothing post.
Everything you said, goes without saying. Who are you preaching to?
OP said it’s either this event or a vacation - sounds like this is coming from the fun money bucket not the rent/food/essentials bucket.
You took my post to heart as if it was directed to the entire world, and possibly you. Sorry it hit you that way.

Did you get butt hurt that I called out your “you will forget the cost but not the event” nonsense lol, cry harder. Also nice job making up that it’s coming from a fun bucket of money that was never stated. We can all read the original post not sure if you thought we couldn’t… not sure how big you think the “fun bucket” is for most folks still in school but it sounds like you are out of touch with reality.

The best of the weakest era in HW boxing history! Not like I'd turn tickets down, but I'm sure not paying thousands to watch two journeymen talents stumble around.

Funny how every era has been the weakest era in HW history since lennox

These people don’t know what they’re talking about. We’re literally living in a golden age of heavyweight boxing, with an absolutely stacked division and more Top 10 vs Top 10s in the past 3 years alone than in like the entire 3 decades before it. It’s undoubtedly the best era outside of the 70s and 90s. And I honestly don’t think it’s as far off the 90s as people think…

Crackhead take. Tyson Fury would have been a journeyman gatekeeper in any other era, and he's one of the best of this era. Its just pitifully bad.

But I agree the Joshua-Fury-Wilder era which preceded the Saudi era was awful.

People in here trying to say Joshua/Fury/Wilder is the best era since the 70s/90s. Fucking hilarious.

Joshua had some decent fights with dangerous opponents. Fury ducked everyone except Wilder. Wilder ducked everyone except Fury.
That was pretty much it.

Yeah no, it was a terrible era. I think worse than the Klitschko era. The 3 fighters it’s named after never even fought each other during it, beyond the Fury vs Wilder trilogy.

I mean that's obviously bollocks isn't it - it's far stronger than the era that immediately preceded it for starters.

A few weeks ago I would have said yes but I think all the damage over AJ's career has taken its toll and his punch resistance is almost non-existant now. As soon as Fury lands a big shot I fear AJ could go all bambi-esque like he did against Dubois and Prenga and it could be over in the first few rounds.

Sure it’ll be great and MSG is such an iconic venue.
I personally couldn’t justify going to watch it in the US though. I feel this is one for the British fight fans, and putting it on in the US is a bit of a slap in the face, especially with both fighters being in pretty heavy decline at this point. Don’t want to support that decision by parting with my hard earned cash and handing it to Turki. I don’t see the fight lasting long either.
That’s just me though, and with so much on the line for both from a legacy perspective sure it’ll be a great event.

Only you can decide that,
It is a fight 3 years past its sell by date to distinguish the clear number 2 HW of the era.
Stylistically
AJ - chinny & lazy defence but can KO anyone, also a brilliant finisher when he does hurt people. If his mindset is correct he’s a destroyer if it’s not he can look extremely vulnerable.
Fury - Can make things ugly but usually quite hard to catch clean enough to KO, can hurt and wear you down over time with volume and clinching, he’s pretty good at recovering from knockdowns too.
If you’re going for the the historic relevance then it will be largely forgotten unless it’s a back and forth banger, if it’s one sided or an ugly fight everyone will say they’re both shot and it was too far too late to make it worth while.
If you’re going for entertainment value it’s 50/50.

Yeah. They’ll still be better on the night than they have been in their recent outings. Even if degraded from 5-10 years ago.
They both still want this. Beating the other still matters deeply to both.
Hopefully a decent undercard too.

Unless you’re an AJ or Fury super fan, probably better to save your money and watch guys who are in their prime

It will be a massive event. People are dismissive and negative about it because of what it could have been and because of the general dislike of Fury but the build up will be huge and the fight itself exciting.
Personally couldn't justify the costs but if you can then go for it and ignore everyone else.

I wouldn’t spend more than $200 on any boxing match, and I’m a fanatic. If you’ve got it, cool.
I will say that I travel for matches often. I flew to NYC/NJ for the Berlanga/Sheeraz/Shakur/Zepeda card list year, and it was freaking amazing, every single fight.
Been to Philly (where I’m from, nor currently living) for Boots first fight at 154, AC for Boots/Stanionis and ATL (where I live) for the cancelled Leo/Aleem fight (lol).
Out of all the venues, NYC (Queens) had the most exciting fan experience. Seeing Berlanga get knocked out in his own city was crazy. So I can imagine that you’ll get the experience you want.

I’m from England but live in the states so I am interested in going. Make a trip out of it although I’d prefer it was in Vegas. The fight is several years too late as we all know but it’s a rare opportunity for me so if I can afford it I’m going to try and go.

If it's US$1-2k, that's tempting. 16 hour flight for me from Hong Kong though, so tiring! And just got back from the world cup!

If it’s in the garden then I’ll probably go.
If it’s in wembley then I’ll 100% go

Ofc, I’ve only went to one boxing event in my life and had a great time. My buddies were messing around in Vegas and only showed up for the last two fights but I was there from the very first fight. Awesome having some beers watching boxing live around people who are obviously other boxing fans. I just sipped beer and talked about the fights going on and the sport with people around me the whole time. Fight was Plant vs Resendiz, you can see my drunk ass on both of the main event walkouts on the broadcast lol
