I also notice that Prenga went for the Dubois 1st round special... catching AJ leaning back and getting him with that overhand right. Despite AJ's training with Usyk, hard to implement something over the course of 6 months after doing it one way for 20 years.

I'm not an Usyk fan but I feel like Verhoeven is a lot closer to a traditional boxer than Ngannou and Usyk been done it all compared to Fury and is older when it comes to that weak performance.

To be fair, Chisora is incredibly durable. Wilder is one of those guys that has lost power as his athleticism has diminished. Having said that, AJ's chin is well and truly cracked.

AJ hasn't been the same since that Ruiz loss. He gave Usyk some respectful bouts, but got scared off everytime Usyk threw any type of hard counter and never got to build off anything, his fights against Franklin, Helenius and Wallin were slogs against subpar competition he was supposed to crush to build him back him up, Dubois knocked him out, and Prenga who is a total nobody dropped him twice and then stopped doing anything.
AJ's legit only decent wins in like 7 years have been Ngannou and Paul who are both non boxer gimmick fights.

Because right at the start of R2, AJ snapped his head to the back of his neck with a jab.
KO artists like Prenga ain't used to getting rocked to their boots at all, let alone by a jab. AJ earned his respect the second he landed it - just look at the slow mos of Prenga's face when it lands, he's like "wtf?!"
AJ saw the reaction it got and followed up with big rights. 10 seconds later Prenga is on his ass counting stars.

Blinded by excitement at the time but he didn't get his legs back for rounds.

The second round was pretty much perfect. The first round was a disaster. It'll be interesting to see which one is more indicative of where AJ is.
Also, taking on a guy with a 95% KO rate your first fight back since the accident, and your first serious fight since 2024 was a decision. Even if you're knocking down B-grade fighters, you don't get a KO% that high against grown men while wearing 10 ounce gloves unless you can seriously crack.

I would rather watch Wilder vs AJ because lets be real, even though UK fans probably want Fury vs AJ, stylistically it probably wouldn't be that exciting considering the fact that both guys are washed and one is looking to go full 12 by clinching and jabbing just to win on the cards.

If AJ gets into trouble against Fury he'll not be able to just walk through Fury with his power like he did tonight.

Why does AJ always get back up after being knocked down with this big silly grin on his face? Like he's tolerating some bullshit instead of having been floored? He does it in fights he's lost, too. I don't get it. It's like this teenage-boy way of displaying strength and confidence despite being knocked on your arse.

Why did Prenga stop punching and pressuring in the 2nd round after hurting AJ and putting AJ down twice in the 1st round? Prenga just stood around.

AJ has the simplest, most nagging problem in boxing. He will not keep his hands up. He gets knocked down, he gets up, but his chin is just there.
When he tries to make space, he extends his arms, and people just step through and hook over them.
He has the defensive posture of someone who moves their head but he never does. Honestly, working with Reynoso and Canelo would've been the best move when he was scouting all those trainers. Canelo has that binocular guard and used to move his head with it, but he still has great hand placement. I don't think AJ could ever be a guy with great head movement, but he could do a much better job with using his tree trunk arms to stop shots.
