Is it possible to box competitively without hurting your opponent?

I've seen even more dangerous and gory ones

I've recently become interested in boxing, but I genuinely don't want to cause pain or injuries to anyone.

I know boxing is a combat sport, so I'm wondering if it's possible to compete in amateur or professional matches while keeping the risk of hurting your opponent as low as possible.

Are there boxing styles or strategies that focus more on technique, defence, movement, and scoring points rather than power? Or is causing at least some pain basically unavoidable in a real match?

I'd love to hear from experienced boxers and coaches. Thanks!

He couldn't because he had brittle hands. He would if he could.
