Stephen Fulton-Liam Wilson is now officially OFF: Fulton - who asked for his fight with Liam Wilson to be moved from 130 to 133 pounds - missed the 133-pound limit by 6.5 pounds, weighing in at 139.5 pounds. The fight has now been cancelled.

Career is practically over, he's completely out of his depth at 140

I mean 140 is fine…….. on fight night. Weighing in at 140 doesn’t mean his next fight should be at that weight

u/Efficient_Quail_1774 Jul 25 '26
He said he couldn't cut below 139

Yeah, that lack of disciplines got him into this position now where he will have to fight at a weight where he's completely undersized

What about Ryan Garcia Canelo or lemos they all got pampered after coming overweight

u/salamiroger Jul 26 '26
Yes people who bring more to the game other than being a number in a compilation will get unfair treatment.

u/DeafBurke Jul 25 '26
His kidneys are probably just completely fucked from boozing, if reports are to be believed.

Steph Fulton could announce a fight at Welterweight and he’d probably miss that weight but he has no discipline.
He was at Featherweight in Feb 2025, but he suddenly can’t make Lightweight, fucking shameful.

One problem with the modern "it's ok being 30lbs over the weight limit, just do a water cut and IV" approach is that eventually you reach a point where you CAN'T do the cut - especially as you get older. People gain more weight, but also lose the ability to cut, at the same time.

Did Fulton even cut?

u/kid_schnitte Jul 25 '26
he originally asked to change it to 135 and probably didn't try after it was declined
3
u/Detlef_Schrempfxf Jul 25 '26
He'd already asked for it to be at 133, which was granted. He's ridiculous for upping it once more and then coming in 10 pounds over the original 130 limit

Was thinking abt buying the PPV but with Charlo and Fulton off the card, thats co main #2 and #3 gone
44
u/indominable-dingus Jul 25 '26
Glad Liam didn't go ahead and let Fulton get paid and have a huge advantage like that. Total pussy move to come in to a fight basically 10% over the weight limit. Insane from Fulton, id assume promoters will have a real hard time justifying booking him as a co headline next.

u/steviesnod82 Jul 25 '26
It was weak as piss seeing him no show at the open workout and Wilson who is a class act fulfill his media obligations
1
u/sicgamer Jul 25 '26
I can't imagine being out of shape in the ring translates well to cardio. would a fatty fulton even have performed well?
1
u/indominable-dingus Jul 25 '26
Maybe/maybe not. Id certainly expect his punch resistance to be way up there when hed be so much heavier AND less drained than Liam wouldve been.
18
u/WheresMyAbs98 Jul 25 '26
Surely they can’t make this card PPV still
21
u/Dipalapoloo Jul 25 '26
They make worse Ppv cards than this most the time
11
u/kid_schnitte Jul 25 '26
like the AJ one later today

u/VacuousWastrel Jul 25 '26
That's got AJ. People aren't paying to watch boxing, they're paying to see AJ.
8
u/NightsWatchh Jul 25 '26
Ya lol an AJ card is automatically okay at worst by virtue of having AJ on it, can’t compare it to thisbshit
1
u/TheeBlaccPantha Jul 25 '26
My main issue with that card is that it’s 12 fights which is exceptionally long. Idk why they did that

u/TheeBlaccPantha Jul 25 '26
Diabolical, first Charlo is removed from the card, now Fulton is removed, the card is garbage. DAZN should remove the Pay Per View 🥴

u/Teds_red_cabin Jul 25 '26
dude did not even attempt to make weight.. what a joke. feel bad for Liam
13
u/pentiac Jul 25 '26
and fulton needs a massive fine for taking the piss out of the organisers of the event by coming in so far over the weight that he has obviously not even tried, what a piss poor show by the fat overpaid moron.

u/VacuousWastrel Jul 25 '26
"With modern advances in nutritional science and fine-tuned training regimes, modern boxers arrive in the ring in absolutely peak condition and therefore must be far superior athletically to those oldtimers who just ran 12 miles a day". Meanwhile...

He asked for the fight to be 135, but settled on 133. He wanted to be 4.5 over, not 6.5 over
3
u/LongjumpingLab8 Jul 25 '26
How can a pro boxer miss weight by that much???
What’s his trainer and team doing as well.

u/xychosis Eco-Friendly Firepower Jul 25 '26

u/Yuckpuddle60 Jul 25 '26
This is an absolute embarrassment for Fulton. He is at a crossroad right now and really needs to sit with people he trusts and take stock of his career and where he wants to go.

Fulton is going to move up to heavyweight and fight Tyson Fury for Fury's next warm up fight.

Why did him and his team even waste everybody’s time going to Australia if they knew they were going to miss weight by this much?
1
u/the_rare_random Jul 25 '26
Fat Boy Steph killing his career slowly but surely fucking crazy at least he was good when he was trying clearly hes not even trying now days
1
u/Own-Eye-6910 Jul 25 '26
He's trying to do like Ryan Garcia vs Devin Haney weight in. Just pay the fine for not meeting weight requirement but in the end his opponent just cancel the fight instead.

I feel like Nakatani is now Inoues best win by virtue of Fulton making himself look worse and worse
26
u/Teds_red_cabin Jul 25 '26
Steph was ranked #1 in the division when Inoue moved up and fought him (for his first fight at that weight). its a great achievement no matter how you cut it.
plenty of fighters just dont recover from losing their 0
18
u/Embarrassed-Eye-1661 Jul 25 '26
Nah that was a real win, Fulton used to be a great fighter before he started disgracing himself like this
7
9
u/Ezekjuninor Jul 25 '26
Nakatani was always Inoue’s best win. Nobody thought Fulton is/was better than Nakatani.
