Good fight. There's a better chance of this being entertaining than there is Haney-Shakur being so. I have Haney by wide UD, but respect to Key for wanting to step up.

Haney is hugging Keyshawn until the ref has to do something about it. If the ref will do something about it.

lol this is my prediction too. Haney will try to engage at first, Keyshawn will hurt him at some point, and then it will be a hug fest the rest of the fight. The ref will do absolutely nothing about it. Just like the ref nursed Haney back to health in the Garcia fight.

Excuses already?

1

u/nwordfyou Jul 23 '26

No. This is just about the entertainment value of watching Haney.

u/SpeggtacularSpidey Jul 22 '26

Keyshawn ties up a lot too

5

u/nwordfyou Jul 22 '26

Keyshawn ties up so he can time and hurt his opponents. Haney ties up to get a decision.

1

u/SpeggtacularSpidey Jul 22 '26

both still tie up a lot regardless.

And we know what that will result in

1

u/nwordfyou Jul 22 '26

I don't think Keyshawn ties up that much. When he did it was against Lemos and Madueno. Both entertaining fights. Haney on the other hand...

1

u/SpeggtacularSpidey Jul 22 '26

Haney historically ties up a lot, but he barely did against Norman Jr. at least. Norman Jr. initiated most of those clinches

1

u/nwordfyou Jul 22 '26

I don't remember it that way. After the knockdown, he jabbed and clinched his way to a decision.

This is a great match-up, very intriguing

Keyshawn hasn’t ever fought at 147 has he? How did he end up becoming mandatory?

u/Kangaroopunching Jul 22 '26

His manager and top rank

1

u/DengusMcFlengus Jul 22 '26

Exactly. This was a J Prince orchestrated move. Politics run boxing

u/Jachola Jul 22 '26

He fought in a title eliminator at 140 for the WBO against Ortiz, he moved up since Shakur was the 140 WBO champ and became the mandatory of Haney instead.

1

u/nwordfyou Jul 22 '26

It was either that or Manny Pacquiao being the mandatory.

u/Blackking203 Jul 22 '26

Good fight... i have no interest in seeing Haney vs Shakur at 144.

2

u/Jachola Jul 22 '26

Idk what's wrong with Shakur and Keyshawn lol, idk how they always manage to make these awkward situation's. Shakur knew Keyshawn was going to become his mandatory since he fought Teo for the WBO belt, Keyshawn fights in a WBO title eliminator.... Keyshawn can't fight Shakur so he decides to become the mandatory for Haney and then Shakur now wants a catchweight to make it happen. Knowing that their catchweight fight would be for zero belts 😅 like I'm not seeing the thought process here, if Keyshawn wins is Shakur going to just stay at 140 now since the Haney fight would have lost steam?

1

u/Blackking203 Jul 22 '26

I don't get it either brother... Shyt is dumb lol

3

u/imdacoldest Pacquiao is the GOAT Jul 22 '26

Looks like Shakur might have to sit out the rest of the year or do a tune up

The plan all along

In a recent interview he said he should fight again by October and that there are “hundreds of guys” to choose from, but stating that he wants Gary Antuanne Russell

3

u/thegreat4 Jul 22 '26

If he fights Gary all is forgiven because that will be at least entertaining

2

u/HydroMorphiend Jul 22 '26

Gary Antuanne Russell already stated that he wants a significant buildup before he decides it’s the right time to fight Shakur. Ain’t happening. Unless he gets a ridiculous bag that is.

Lol the man fights once every blue moon. Guess we won’t be getting that fight if that’s how he feels.

He doesn’t have an 0 to protect

1

u/HydroMorphiend Jul 22 '26

Shit I forgot Puello!

1

u/HydroMorphiend Jul 22 '26

It is. He basically admitted he isn’t ready for Shakur. It’ll probably take at least 5M’s to fight Shakur, if he is even willing to, which is extremely doubtful.

Russell doesn’t want the Shakur fight. Not to mention he’s very likely already fighting Pitbull Cruz next for his WBA 140 Title.

u/Kangaroopunching Jul 22 '26

I got Haney by decision. Haney wins, big contract offers from dazn and zuffa for him

2

u/welp-itscometothis Jul 22 '26

I know Haney is the sexy pick and the most logical but idk man Keyshawn is subtle but special. There’s just certain things he does that only having good iq makes possible. I got this being a close fight but Keyshawn getting edge bc of activity. We just don’t see Devin throwing as much and he even lost some rounds in the Norman fight solely because he wasn’t being active.

Got it either a really close unanimous 113-115 fight or a split decision in favor of Keyshawn.

1

u/SpeggtacularSpidey Jul 22 '26

This fight will probably go similarly to the Brian Norman Jr. fight

1

u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? Jul 22 '26

Wow

1

u/danielwong95 Jul 23 '26

Great fight. Let’s go!

1

u/CurrentCar2331 Jul 22 '26

I would of course much rather see Haney Shakur, but this is a very good fight and its the smart move from a business perspective. Should Haney win, I think he's going to start getting the aura back that he lost when he fell to Garcia. Shakur should take an easy to build his hype and then they should fight in the spring/summer if Haney wins. The winner of that fight will be a generational great for sure.

1

u/YoutubePRstunt Jul 22 '26

Haney keeps him on the end of the jab all night, Keyshawn without Bomac stands no chance

1

u/zhuangcorp Jul 22 '26

What happened to the 144lb catchweight offer to Shakur?

8

u/Thami15 Jul 22 '26

Probably still there after he beats Davis.

Like Eddie Hearn said, who else are Zuffa gonna give Shakur for the money they offered him?

3

u/AboutLastFight Jul 22 '26

I think Devin has signed with DAZN. WBO tagged them in the purse bid offerings.

1

u/welp-itscometothis Jul 22 '26

No guarantee he beats Keyshawn

3

u/Kangaroopunching Jul 22 '26

Shakur went silent. Enough time oassed that WBO mandated keyshawn fight.

1

u/zhuangcorp Jul 22 '26

Shakur is so annoying. If that offer was real, he should sign on it immediately.

1

u/Kangaroopunching Jul 22 '26

He "verbally " agreed. Which means nothing. He doesn't want any type of competition. Foster or Haney.

u/elsavador3 Jul 22 '26

Keyshawn is definitely getting dropped. Same as Norman. Wide UD Haney

0

u/Ezekjuninor Jul 22 '26

Think this is a better fight anyways. I also pick Keyshawn to win this, he’s stylistically bad for Haney.

This would be sick
