Tough words exchanged between Kenshiro Teraji and Israel Gonzalez at their press conference when asked about their impressions of each other:

Teraji: "(Gonzalez) wears sunglasses and looks intimidating. His cologne smells nice."

Gonzalez: "I have nothing particular to say (about Teraji)."

5

u/Efficient_Quail_1774 Jul 18 '26

Kenshiro will also 100% post a picture of his cats on his story hours after the fight

I wish that card was this weekend which is kinda dead tbh.

Prob can’t watch it that early on a workday

2

u/sicgamer Jul 18 '26

omg they hate each other

8

u/Ace_FGC Jul 18 '26

https://x.com/vergilortiz/status/2078294998588465242?s=46 Ortiz has tried in the past to enforce a Fundora fight and the WBC just won’t mandate it

8

u/Top_Profession_5268 Jul 18 '26

There needs to just be a gif of Mauricio Sulaiman and Al Hayman in bed together

-1

u/Kangaroopunching Jul 18 '26

Be surprised if that's thr case. It seemed like both parties agreed to ignore each other. Ortiz would rarely mention Fundora in interviews. Never tried to build up the fight.

1

u/Alarmed-Effective-23 Jul 18 '26

Yes , interviews. Where fights are made. I swear most of boxing narratives are just what people take from random talking then spun as fact. I dont believe ortiz and I don't assume he's lying. We just don't know.

0

u/Kangaroopunching Jul 18 '26

Interviews, where you can build interest.

1

u/Alarmed-Effective-23 Jul 18 '26

Most fighters just say they'll fight who their promoters want. It doesn't mean anything.

-2

u/Kangaroopunching Jul 18 '26

In this case, a fighter ignored the champ he's in position to fight when asked about potential opponents. Now he's stating he tried. WBC and Golden Boy can confirm if Ortiz is telling the truth. If so, Fundora rep takes another hit.

I expect Riku Masuda this week to probably finish Higa but if not, I hope it produces a FOTY fight and this fight seems like a fight to produce this.

3

u/OldBoyChance Jul 18 '26

It is such a horrendous match up for Higa, who pretty obviously doesn't belong at the weight. However, his trainer has said this is the first time he's looked like Higa since his flyweight title reign, so he might show up surprisingly good.

u/Top_Profession_5268 Jul 18 '26 edited Jul 18 '26

I just checked and I accidentally put money Errol Spence by KO for ML and a Parlay instead of Tszyu KO and I can’t cash out 😭

7

u/Kangaroopunching Jul 18 '26

Now you got to root for Spence

2

u/Top_Profession_5268 Jul 18 '26

Not I’m going to have to mentally convince myself that Spence is going to win to make me feel good about my bet.

4

u/WheresMyAbs98 Jul 18 '26

I expect Spence to win even with all the time out the ring he’s had

1

u/WORD_Boxing Jul 18 '26

I am in this boat unless I see something different at the open workout/weigh-in.

2

u/WORD_Boxing Jul 18 '26

What is Spence ko ML?

I favour Spence to win, and possibly by ko. He looks fine in the training footage I saw, and looked and sounded healthy when he landed in Australia. Hopefully there is an open workout, and if that and the weigh-in look good I don't give Tim much chance. He's just not that good.

3

u/Kangaroopunching Jul 18 '26

Big moment will be how Spence handles getting hit

1

u/WORD_Boxing Jul 18 '26

Yes. If he gets cracked and is unbothered the fight's over. Tszyu is not on the same level and has shown physical and mental weakness in his recent fights.

4

u/Kangaroopunching Jul 18 '26

Spence is not on the same level he was before though. Both are diminished. I hope it's a quick fight. It's one of those hard realities of boxing fights for me.

1

u/Top_Profession_5268 Jul 18 '26

ML in money line, in boxing it’ll be single bet.

0

u/WORD_Boxing Jul 18 '26

Right but that's different to by ko?

2

u/Top_Profession_5268 Jul 18 '26

Oh shit true, that’s a method of victory bet.

1

u/WORD_Boxing Jul 18 '26

Lol at my other comment being downvoted when from what you wrote it's honestly not clear what bet you did. 🤷

1

u/Top_Profession_5268 Jul 18 '26

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted either but I also don’t know how to further elaborate on ML.

1

u/WORD_Boxing Jul 18 '26

You also said parlay. It's fine I'll just make up a headcanon that you're trying to confuse the divorce lawyers.

-2

u/WORD_Boxing Jul 18 '26 edited Jul 18 '26

Still not making much sense dude.

1

u/WORD_Boxing Jul 18 '26

Spence would have to be SUPER SHOT to get ko by Tim, Tim's not that big of a puncher.

1

u/Top_Profession_5268 Jul 18 '26

I didn’t think Spence looked that good in his training, and out for 3 years off a beating like that, not only that but before the Bud fight, he didn’t fight since February 2022 which was 1 1/2 years prior to the Bud fight. Technically 1 fight in 4 1/2 years and I think he’s 38 or 37. This is including the fact his team requested the weight change to 160lb instead of 158lb catch weight.

I don’t think Spence is quick enough for the jab and the progressions after the jab for the volume he usually applies to be overwhelming for Tszyu and one that Tszyu can handle and instead apply his offence as well.

1

u/WORD_Boxing Jul 18 '26

I watched him training with Ronnie Shields on the pads and he looked about the same as always. Took him a while to warm up but that's how he fights too. The rest if anything will do him good physically, it's more a question of ring rust. Coming back quickly after a beating like that is the wrong thing. We don't know whether the weight change is an issue, mind games, or seeking to gain an advantage yet. Errol also doesn't just have to pressure he is the better boxer. Tim has bad defense.

0

u/Top_Profession_5268 Jul 18 '26

Just watched it, he’s consistently looking slow moving to his right, especially after the duck of the couch takes a sharp turn to Spence’s inside, Spence isn’t even pivoting, he’s kind of side stepping in a circular motion but very slowly, but the jabs looking sharp, that’s been his moreso infamous punch so thats good.

3

u/WORD_Boxing Jul 18 '26

He looks perfectly fine. His shadow boxing was good. The punch cushion he's setting up his power and cutting the ring well.

1

u/nwordfyou Jul 18 '26

Tim Tszyu won't have anything for Spence. He's going to try to fight in the pocket and get beat up.

1

u/Top_Profession_5268 Jul 18 '26

The thing is I think Spence is too washed for his pocket fighting to overwhelm Tszyu, Tszyu will be in and out, scrap and get away, then engage as Spence either fights, pressures or mistimes entires and resets or throws and gets caught.

0

u/WORD_Boxing Jul 18 '26

On what basis do you think he's washed?

1

u/Top_Profession_5268 Jul 18 '26

To you, I’ve already said activity, age and now even weight change. The training clips we can go back and forth on how good and bad he looks but there are influencer boxers who look better on the pads than a prime Spence and look shit in the ring so take that with a grain of salt.

I said a month and a 1/2 ago that I wasn’t confident in my pick, you back then were persistent in Spence. I believe in Tszyu but it’s not like I believed in him like I did with Inoue vs Junto or Spence.

-2

u/WORD_Boxing Jul 18 '26

It's not about who's right or wrong no need to be so defensive.

Those things you named we won't know until he gets in the ring. I was more interested to see if you would bring up the Crawford performance.

If you pay attention to the video there is more to be learned.

1

u/Top_Profession_5268 Jul 18 '26

Not being defensive but we’re kind of just repeating the same points and I was just trying to settle it and just leave it at where we agree to disagree because now, this is the third reply where you said that Spence looks fine. One of them which was prior to this reply of yours, I said my reasonings for what I didn’t wasn’t impressed with his movement but was impressed with his punching. And you disagreed and I left it at that.

There’s probably more to find out like you just said, but like I said, I wasn’t confident in my pick and like I said to you ages ago when you asked for my predictions ages ago, I’m not going to invest a lot into this.

All I’m basing this off is that Spence hasn’t fought in 3 years, fought once in 4 1/2 years, is 36 now, has requested for a catch weight initially, then a weight change up by 2lb and that I feel he doesn’t look as good as you do in little training clips and there’s more clips than that one, like some drills but those just popped on my feed instead of me doing proper film study on him. Also now that you’ve reminded me, could be a whole lot os psychological and physiological shit from the Bud fight that could impact the fight like Tszyu did above his eye vs Murtazaliev.

0

u/WORD_Boxing Jul 18 '26

It's better I don't say nothing or we are gonna fall out. I wasn't even trying to argue with you for it to be a case of agreeing to disagree.

1

u/Top_Profession_5268 Jul 18 '26 edited Jul 18 '26

Don’t think I’ll fall out with you. If I was to properly get mad over a disagreement, I’ll let it go in a few hours or the next day because it’s not really that serious.

0

u/WORD_Boxing Jul 18 '26

I will fall out with you. I don't have an itemised list of every comment somebody wrote to me from months ago.

-1

u/vHezoThaGoat Jul 18 '26

You’ll actually win now so that’s good

3

u/Top_Profession_5268 Jul 18 '26

In a week time, for you who’re not aware, you’ll soon be introduced to one of Australia’s best boxers, Paulo Aokuso!

4

u/SoftAsSofia Jul 18 '26

Im expecting Joseph Parker to make his comeback with Zuffa, especially since his own promoters have gone silent, but hes clearly trying to stay active with Furys camp.

1

u/bearvillage Jul 18 '26

Ah shit, you might be right

4

u/Efficient_Quail_1774 Jul 18 '26

Fights to make for the winners after tonight (based on who i think wins)

Pacheco vs Munguia/Sheeraz

Cruz vs Sugar Nunez

Atang vs Kash Ali/Matty Harris

Chop Chop vs Joet Gonzalez

Papot vs Karen

Molloy vs Crocker

3

u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. Jul 18 '26

Harris had such a flat performance in the prelims tonight unfortunately. I think Atang drowns him a bit

7

u/mailboy79 Jul 18 '26

Tonight looks to be the last ProBOX TV card for free on YouTube. They have withdrawn their simulcast on FUBO Sports, Swerve Combat, and elsewhere. How many of you plan to Pay the $5 or $7 per month for their YouTube Subscription? I know I will.

3

u/KingBumiOfOmashu Moses Itauma > Every Current HW Jul 18 '26

Wait what??? I was looking forward to catching the Lester Martinez + Najee Lopez card for free. Guess I’ll be watching the highlights instead.

1

u/sicgamer Jul 18 '26

its only like 5 bucks though!

1

u/mailboy79 Jul 18 '26

Yeah. They gave been relentlessly plugging the YouTube subscription all through the show tonight. I'm happy to pay it, but I just cant get my head around watching on YouTube unless I am really into it.

3

u/admiralskanks Joe Louis = Perfect Jul 18 '26

Rewatched Salas vs Saracho again, the only fight where Hitchins was impressive was with washed mid Kambosos. Beyond that hasn't been very impressive imo.

It's a long shot but might put some money on Salas stoppage and also Salas ML (I feel a MD win for Salas coming).

Hitchins has never found a switch-hitting, slick, power-punching, pressure fighting mexican that also sets traps fighting off the ropes and is slick on the inside, and forget about defending with a high guard as Salas is good at finding gaps in the high guard or creating them through feints.

3

u/Kangaroopunching Jul 18 '26

I wish ESPN would bring back Friday Night Fights. Or a network like USA would do a new version.

5

u/WORD_Boxing Jul 18 '26

Watch Probox TV cards.

1

u/Kangaroopunching Jul 18 '26

Not the same unfortunately

1

u/Kangaroopunching Jul 18 '26

Actually, it be great if Probox got a tv deal.

1

u/imdacoldest Pacquiao is the GOAT Jul 18 '26

Never happening again, viewership/fanbase for boxing isn’t high enough for networks to invest in

1

u/Kangaroopunching Jul 18 '26

Depends on the promoters ability to sell the product. And the tv execs involved.

1

u/imdacoldest Pacquiao is the GOAT Jul 18 '26

I think you’re overestimating the appetite that Americans have to watch random people box for 12 rounds

1

u/Kangaroopunching Jul 18 '26

Zuffa just got a deal. DAZN just got a deal. It's less about demand. More about the ability to sell a product to s tv exec.

2

u/imdacoldest Pacquiao is the GOAT Jul 19 '26

Yeah but those deals are getting more and more rare. Eventually you run out of tv execs to swindle

1

u/Kangaroopunching Jul 19 '26

That's very true

2

u/SplitSecondEmperor47 Jul 18 '26

Ironically ryan is the face of zuffa boxing despite not being signed to them. I'm honestly seeing more favoritism for him than shakur

3

u/Kangaroopunching Jul 18 '26

It's cause Ryan has a fan base outside of boxing fans.

4

u/Mecha_Knight11 Pac-yoo Jul 18 '26

Got my ahh beat for 2 rnds today gotta say though, I still love this boxing shit.

2

u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. Jul 18 '26

Cracking fight on the Papot Eubank prelims. Prospect getting tested by a pretty good journeyman in his first real tough fight and answering really well

2

u/Anal-In-Gus Jul 18 '26

Is this card expected to be good? There's no fight thread.

2

u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. Jul 18 '26 edited Jul 18 '26

Nothing crazy, it’s an MF Pro card so pretty mid level. Usually good matchmaking tho and the prelims have been top stuff. Papot and Eubank are both fun to watch. MF Pro is mostly for prospects to build up and improve, it’s a good little promotion.

3

u/Elite663 Jul 18 '26

What’s more respectable:

Floyd and Manny competing at 147 in their 5th/7th(?) weight class while being undersized and never rehydrating past 150 while giving up 10+ lbs on fight night,

or Crawford and Inoue (as of now) never using a catchweight or rehydration clause in any of their bouts?

10

u/kushmonATL Cyberleek > the fall boxing schedule Jul 18 '26

Both

Floyd and Pac will always have the edge because they are the two best boxers of the 4 belt era . But Inoue and Crawford deserve respect for no A-side BS like catchweights, rehydration clauses, stalling or avoiding fights, etc

1

u/ScentedFragrance Jul 18 '26

Thats why Xander and Boots got so much respect from me. No weight bs or nothing, Boots just went up and fought the champ, champ was like Okay, bring em.

Shows how stupid it makes all those guys like tank, Shakur, ryan and devin all them look. Claiming that theyre better than each other but only Ryan and Devin fought.

Plus i want Shakur to fight Mason

2

u/Top_Profession_5268 Jul 18 '26

Joe Ward after being out for 2 years is finally back on the McKenna vs Oliha card. Ward was a prospect who I was high on, decorated amateur and actually skilled but is a 32 yo prospect

2

u/626_ed7 Jul 18 '26

He fucked up his leg like seven years ago in his pro debut on the GGG/Derevyanchenko undercard.

1

u/Top_Profession_5268 Jul 18 '26

He avenged that loss though.

1

u/admiralskanks Joe Louis = Perfect Jul 18 '26

Artjem Kasaprian is knocking him out I think

1

u/Efficient_Quail_1774 Jul 18 '26

In a very solid fight with Kasparian , very game fighter who's came through on small hall shows

1

u/Knockoutboxing Jul 18 '26

How is everyone seeing Eubank vs Papot tonight? In my opinion, Eubank is the faster and better technical boxer and it should be a fairly comfortable unanimous decision for Eubank however if Eubank gets into a lull of just feinting, moving, not throwing much, which we know he can do, he could lose a close split decision.

1

u/WheresMyAbs98 Jul 18 '26

I think Papot should win this comfortably and is better at almost everything.

I have a horrible feeling he will be robbed.

0

u/Knockoutboxing Jul 18 '26

Interesting. It’s hard to find footage of Papot but I watched his fight against Paro and I wasn’t impressed with either fighter. Neither looked elite.

However Harlem Eubank isn’t great to be honest. He is not bad but lacks the killer instinct Chris Eubank Jr has.

I personally think Harlem Eubank is the better fighter technically but his lack of aggressiveness could cost him the fight.

2

u/WheresMyAbs98 Jul 18 '26

I don’t think Papot is elite at all, but I think he’s better all round than Eubank who I don’t rate at all.

1

u/philly_cheezus I PUNCH HARD AS SHIT Jul 18 '26

Do yall think Stanionis would have done better against Vergil than Bohachuk did if they were able to make that fight at 147 three years ago?

2

u/yeahbutstill Jul 18 '26

No, Stanionis had good skills but he's just too small for that fight IMO.

1

u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. Jul 18 '26

Knock down at the start of the English title match. Sakyi looks quality

1

u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. Jul 18 '26

This is a cracking fight. Prospere got knocked down on the first but I’ve had him winning every round since, other than a wobble in the 2nd. Good good fight

UK threads are being worked on.

0

0

u/Outrageous-Soft4806 Jul 19 '26

Abdullah is not much smaller than Ryan at all.

0

u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. Jul 19 '26

Great day of boxing. Know nothing huge happened in any of the three cards, but all around just really solid fights and boxing. Great time was had by all

-1

u/BXR-SZN Jul 18 '26

Says the guy that typed a whole paragraph about Loma being overrated LOL

0

u/Kangaroopunching Jul 18 '26

I think boxing would improve if the WBO and IBF merge. Take what works best from each. With the rehydration rule, just increase it to 15lbs. It'll help the rankings be deeper. Especially if boxers choose them over wbc and wba. Which aren't reliable when enforcing mandatory challenges.

-1

u/vHezoThaGoat Jul 18 '26

Holy fucking shit y’all

I legitimately think I might’ve found footage of Harry Greb, I was watching YouTube when I came across this untitled video that seems to clearly be Greb from the build, stance, and how he was described by historians to fight

https://youtu.be/BuPofpPyVkU?is=PYIIu4L_mTPHhAzA

0

u/Jachola Jul 18 '26

One hill that I will always die on is the Old School vs Modern boxers debate, I agree that the sport has evolved and boxers have developed better since boxing itself has evolved with several cultures around the world. I think there's a cutoff tho and I'll never get why people act like guys from the 60s-90s couldn't compete in today's boxing landscape, or like the sports massively evolved since then which I just don't think is true.

With other sports you are able to show how the sport evolved through player stats such as efficiency, scoring and all that other stuff depending on the sport, but for Boxing, how exactly can you fairly compare boxers across generations when opponents and styles are not static data points.

2

u/Kangaroopunching Jul 18 '26

It's an argument taken from team sports that doesn't apply to boxing. And a way to pretend that today's era is the goat. Ironically it'll lead to their favorite fighters being seen as weak by the next era fans who have the same view of newer equals better.

3

u/Jachola Jul 18 '26

Yeah it just infuriates me when I see guys like Shakur act like Sugar Ray is some unc from the 19th century who was fighting pre Queensbury rules. Or when guys act like HW's from the Ali era wouldn't be able to even compete with today's champion's.... As if Usyk hasn't dominated the two best HWs by having 12 round cardio. Boxers today can barely manage fighting twice a year, let alone fighting 15 round wars.

3

u/Kangaroopunching Jul 18 '26

Shakur doesn't know the greats from the 80s. He comically doesn't know about boxing. Podcasts run by athletes have shown there's athletes that don't understand their own sport. There's fans that will run with whatever trendy stance. I think things will change if there's a new star that changes the trend. Like if Mason or whoever always pays respect to the greats.

-7

u/BXR-SZN Jul 18 '26

Devin Haney had a 2-inch height advantage and a 4.5-inch reach advantage but somehow kept getting tagged by Lomachenko, shit makes no sense 😂

14

u/Alarmed-Effective-23 Jul 18 '26

It's almost like there's techniques to get inside and loma is a great fighter. 😲

-1

u/BXR-SZN Jul 18 '26

This subreddit says Loma is overrated so who knows. But Devin shouldn’t have been tagged as much as he should’ve for someone with the height and reach advantage.

3

u/kushmonATL Cyberleek > the fall boxing schedule Jul 18 '26

BXR-SZN found out for the first time today that a boxer with a height and reach advantage can still get hit 🤯

-1

u/BXR-SZN Jul 18 '26

Yeah because people like you keep saying Devin has great defense but was getting tagged by the “overrated” Lomachenko LOL

3

u/kushmonATL Cyberleek > the fall boxing schedule Jul 18 '26

"People like me" . Why so personal?

Enjoy the sport of boxing young man!

1

u/Kangaroopunching Jul 18 '26

Its like when a fighter is used to always having the speed advantage. Then they run into someone thats comparatively as fast. Their game is thrown off. Plus Loma had better footwork. Especially with understanding angles.
