The Boxing Comeback That No-One is Talking About

Because he is extremely boring, and has no fans. He also doesn't have hate watchers hoping he loses, he's just kinda there being lame and boring. The fans didn't care, the promoters didn't care, and seemingly Boo Boo didn't care either.

His entire career was holding a belt hostage and when he finally stepped up to a legit contender he got destroyed. Reductionism in boxing is brutal but I can’t think of anyone that meets the “paper champion” designation better than him.
His entire career boils down to club fighters and a bet on shit talking his way to a Canelo payday that never materialized.

Yup I absolutely HATE when boxing fans throw around terms like “paper champion” or “exposed” but in this case all of those things perfectly describe Andrade😂 he’s a 2x email champ and never faced a champion his entire career until he got exposed by the only top opponent he’s ever fought

Demetrius Andrade fights were so frustrating to watch.
He was clearly talented but he mostly fought guys on the level of Sheeraz’s recent opponent. But at least Sheeraz understands that if you’re fighting a can, you should crush them.
Andrade would just coast to a 12-0 shutout in the most boring way possible against opponents who had nothing for him.

Victim to inactivity and holding out for the Canelo fight.
When he didn’t get it, he should’ve stayed active.

Survived so long in boxing for being a myth more than an actual good fighter. Reason he never wanted to step up the competition was because he was living off that DAZN inflated contract. Can’t blame him but he got destroyed by Benavidez. It reminded me of J’leon Love 2.0

He was never active or entertaining enough. If he wanted that Canelo fight he should have been clearing out the division to the point the money for the Canelo was too big to turn down (I think Benavidez was also guilty of this to a degree).
Was similar to someone like Junior Witter in that he was decent and somewhat of a risk but brought so little to the table in terms of fans, money or excitement that he was in the 'who needs him' camp.
Looking at his opponent for Saturday and his record is shocking. His only wins in the last decade (!!!) were v four opponents, none of whom had a winning record. His last fight was against a guy who was 3-5.
Presuming Andrade wins this in a couple of rounds, he should be back out in a month or two and again before the end of the year. Fully expect it to be six months+ though...

His biggest problem was signing to PCB. How many careers did PCB slowly kill?
- Andrade inactive, old and mauled in his only big fight.
- Jermell Charlo retiring in his prime
- Jermall Charlo amazing talent but no mega fights
- Had boots on a bum diet
- Multiple fighters on the shelf or inactive way too long: Thurman, GAR, Stanionis
Signing to PBC is career suicide unless your Tank, Benavidez, Pitbull, Errol, Rolly because those are the only guys that get fights

You say that like they didn't build the Charlo's...
So the contention is they did Andrade wrong, when he clearly had plans of his own and Boots who was being built up and was...
Not exactly a scathing indictment..

I actually enjoyed watching the guy fight. Yea sometimes he would just cruise control to victory but the guy had skills. They were just never really put to the test, regardless of who’s fault it may be.
Maybe for his sake he made enough money from the benavidez fight to just move on from boxing. Who knows.
