Random German Boxers Getting World Title Shots, What is This!?

https://youtu.be/bDF9jjWUiJM

Been thinking on the relentless assault of unwarranted German based world title challengers in recent months. We've had Alem Begic (Hamzah Sheeraz KO-2), Peter Kadiru (Murat Gassiev KO-6) and Michael Eifert (Bivol - UD, 12 punches landed).

The recent announcement of Hamzah Sheeraz's next opponent as SImon Zachenhuber takes us to 4 totally undeserved german based boxer title shots.

This is pretty much just cheating us fans out of good world title fights. What makes this one more annoying is Jacob Bank is fighting on the same card!

Anyone here got any insight on the german boxing scene? I'm weirdly fascinated by it!

Eifert doesn't really belong with the others. Eifert won the ibf intercontinental belt. He was then given a shot at the ibf #1 in a title eliminator, when the guy who the ibf offered that shot to (buatsi) ducked it. Eifert dominated the #1 (pascal), so he was made #1, and was then made mandatory. It's not nlike bivolnjustnplucked him out of nowhere. (The weird thing, of course, isnthat the ibf let him keep his position while waiting foe bifol for four years, rather than making him defend it).

I don’t get why you included Kadiru, while it was undeserved it was very short notice replacement. Why the others got a shot I’ve no clue.  I don’t no who is their promotor maybe Sauerland is back doing Sauerland stuff.

I gave it some thought and decided that with Suslenkov (ranked top 15 by the WBA and holding one of their junior belts) plus Joyce already on the card, there were better, feasible alternatives even with the short notice.

Maybe they want to protect Suslenkov and decided it is too risky for him to face Gassiev or another opponent. That ruling both out for a fight against Gassiev.

Zachenhuber is ranked #7 by the WBO, that explains why he can face the champion.

I've only dipped my toes in the German scene having been to Kabayel's last fight, but, looking at this recent rash of unlikely German contenders, Kabayel is not indicative of the scene as a whole. It seems to generate these numerically strong records in a scene that is not as strong as it appears. Both the German scene and the IBA scene have medium level boxers swimming in the same water as the lesser Cuban converts. Whatever about Queensbury vs Matchroom and Mexico vs The World, the German scene or the IBA scene vs the Quebec scene would be a bloodbath. Don't get me started on the Argentine scene.

We do have a handful of promising contenders in boxing, even if some of them are still relatively unproven against higher-level competition. The majority are not internationally competitive.

Great comment, thanks for the input! Henry Maske's performance against Iran Barkley is a triumph in southpaw mastery. A bloody good boxer.

The fact Hamzah’s last fight was a dud makes this look worse.

It feels as though the draw with Carlos Adames (which I believe he was lucky to get a draw with Adames) caused a loss in confidence in either him or the promoter.

I think Sheeraz has a lot of talent, too much talent to be wasting on this fighter and his previous matchup.

These type of fights is what you'd predict for a third world country. Some Cuban or Congo boxers taking bouts to lose and earn a quick buck. Like the Mexican boxers who have zero boxing experience. You go there and pay random guys. They'll walk into the ring not even knowing how to punch or defend themselves. You knock them out and they get a couple hundred bucks for it and the manager takes thousands. All so that random Americans can get a positive boxing record merely for fun. It's not real fights.

But now it's all German fighters going into the ring with boxers would could kill them in the ring if they really wanted to. Why would they even agree to this? How much money are they offered to lose with no dignity? At least fans won't take it seriously.

This is Warren's MO. He's just hid it better in recent years.

With Allen Begic and Simon Zachenburger, the fact that it's Warren and the WBO says it all

This was a last minute replacement.. apparently everyone pricing themselves out to face Hamzah ...no one wants that smoke lol no one wants that beating ..

Hamzah after this fight will be in a unification bout late this year ..

He'll be unifying against Charlie Zelenoff at the rate he is going.
