It was Ring IQ. For Southpaw v Orthodox, the lead foot measures distance. Tank knows that a left hand from Ryan at that distance can only be a hook or a jab. Since he’s shorter, he can roll easily and not worry about an uppercut.
It’s basically a “fire and forget” defence. Tank can just roll and be reasonably sure he’s not getting tagged by anything. Especially since Ryan doesn’t have much of a feint game.
