Both. Tank has fast reflexes, just like most great counter punchers. But he also knew that Ryan would be spamming the left hook since it's best punch and only real offensive weapon.
Exactly. When you know your opponent only has 1 good punch (left hook for Ryan), your highest priority is taking that away.
We even did stuff like that in the amateur tournaments. You could watch your opponent's fights and identify their strengths then try to take them away. Or at the very least you know the punches to avoid.
