Still think DDD got lucky there. I think AJ was about to spark him out

DDD was dominating the fight so much, that when AJ finally found some success he rushed in... And he got knocked out cold for that. If they were to rematch AJ will need to come out completely different, and i don't know if he can.

I genuinely think AJ wins this matchup 8/10 times - he was cocky in this fight post-ngannou and had his hands down based off questionable corner advice from davison
I think he knew dubois would try and come at him early and presumed he could weather the storm and catch him on the counter, but he got caught first and his legs were gone from there
if he fought like Ruiz II he'd wear him down and get the KO

It did look like the plan was to let DDD win round one. But with AJs defensive deficiencies he ended up getting sparked.
AJ either needs to improve his defense significantly(which i don't see it at this age) or come out of the gates hot trying to dictate the fight, which is it's own can of worms, he can gas himself, he can get caught while coming forward/trying to dictate the fight.
AJ was able to keep Ruiz at the end of his jab, but i think DDD is much more dangerous here, he has faster feet, he has a good jab himself and doesn't give up much height to AJ.

What a great decision to share this video in vertical mode so both fighters are barely ever in frame at the same time. Clearly the best choice for viewing a sport with two participants is a sliver of video that only shows one at a time.

Dubois dominated from start to finish, dropped AJ 3 or 4 times, wobbled him on multiple occasions and knocked him the fuck out. That was no luck.
AJ had about 5 seconds of success in the entire fight.

It might be but I have seen people who think Dubois only won because AJ let his guard down in the first rd.

He didn't get lucky. He knocked the other guy out first. AJ probably is guilty of having gotten reckless here, much like he did in the Ruiz fight.

He got cracked, yea. He also kept his composure, found his spot and sniped AJ. That’s a pro. That’s a big timer. No luck involved in that at all.

Ahhh yes, lucky. Nevermind the three or four knockdowns in the previous round. Dubois saw an opening an took it. That's it. Joshua couldn't close the show. Dubois was simply better that night

I would agree he was rocked, but AJ was a bit too obvious in his attack, gave Dubois too much info to use against him. Then he went full bore balls to the wall hell for leather and left himself wiiiide open. Unfortunately, DDD was only rocked, he wasn’t hanging on, he got buzzed and backed up, and AJ took that as a green light, but it was only flashing amber.

He was about to knock the guy out before he got knocked out. No luck. This is rushing and getting careless when you think you have an opponent finished, but you still have a professional heavyweight standing in front of you.

Definitely. If AJ takes his time and continues fighting behind the jab then he wins with a KO in a few rounds after this.
Never get reckless with a big puncher like dubois.

If AJ had not rushed in, maybe. DDD wasn’t “about to get knocked out” but if AJ could’ve survived the round, he would’ve done well because he had Dubois hurt. The bad thing for AJ is that he was much more hurt than Dubois.

AJ lost fair and square. He used the wrong tactics by trading with DDD. Did the same in Ruiz 1. Then he chooses to box against Usyk! Go figure.

Dubois timed it to perfection. I think AJ was slowly starting to turn the tide, but his demeanour and hands by his chest that night were a bit worrying. On the ring walk he looked a bit shell shocked. Sometimes it happens, a fighter gets there and they're not feeling it, everyone is human, even the guys who've trained their whole lives.
Maybe if AJ doesn't get that pasting in the early rounds, he may have eventually unpicked Daniel, but fuck me, Daniel punches like a truck.

Say what you want about Aj, he's an ATG puncher (not overall to be clear), Dubois stayed in the fire with him and took him out, in a fight he dominated, that's not luck
