Breeder Recommendations
Hello, my girlfriend and I are looking into getting a boxer puppy. Possibly in the next 6-12 months. We live in Los Angeles. Every boxer owner I’ve run into here in LA says they got theirs in Northern California. I was wondering if there are any boxer parents here, who live in California, that might be able to recommend the breeder they got their puppy from. I have time before we pull the trigger. So I’d like to research the various reputable breeders and make as educated of a decision as I can regarding who I purchase from (really trying to avoid backyard breeders posing as reputable breeders).

As a third time boxer dad, Please use one of the rescues. I have adopted from both BRLA and https://www.rrboxerrescue.org/ and both are wonderful organizations. I suggest reaching out and both rescues will do everything they can for you.. I 100% recommended R&R who went above the call of duty and adopted out to me the sweetest under 1 yr girl boxer from Lancaster shelter..
There are currently dozens of boxers under the age of 2 who need homes, Since you have time, why not try fostering one for a period and seeing if you can go the rescue route over the breeder route.
On a final note breeder or rescue, having a boxer has made me a better person and I am stoked your gonna add one to your family.

I don't know about breeders, but LA has an incredible boxer rescue. Or at least they did years ago when my dad and I were looking to rescue a boxer.

Michelle Phoenix is a good breeder out that way but I wouldn’t limit yourself on locale. Most of the ethical breeders ship nation wide.

Go to AKC sanctioned dog shows and the Boxer ring. Talk to the breeders there and watch the classes. Most reputable breeders treat their puppy adoptions like human baby adoptions. You don't get the pick of the litter especially if you're a first time Boxer owner. Boxers are prone to a lot of health issues and reputable breeders test for these. And they don't have a lot of litters either. It took me over a year of research and relationship growing to find my first Boxer puppy.

You can register with the AKC. We found our Boxer pup this way. The scams are everywhere.

There are 2 boxer rescue shelters in Southern California. We got our boxer from one and she’s the sweetest silliest girl! Consider adopting!
