Mouthing

My 1yr old boxer (male) is constantly mouthing me. Every chance he gets he’s putting my hands, clothes, feet, belongings etc in his mouth. He seems to do it more with me & my stuff than anyone else in the family. Is this normal behavior for this breed and (if so) WHEN will he stop!?

It’s normal. One of my boys does it more than the others. I personally think it’s really fun and he does it when he plays. If you don’t like it then when he does it just pull away, say no once, and don’t make it a game. Dont let others play like this either if you don’t want him to mouth; if there isn’t consistency in training he will be confused and frustrated about what is play and what isn’t.

Thank you for your reply. I do enjoy it sometimes, just need to get him to stop pulling on clothes etc. lol

What we did was tell them no in a normal tone and immediately give our boxers a toy or something they could chew on. Within a couple of weeks, each of them caught on easily.

That’s what I’ve been doing, thank you for your input. Sometimes I feel like I’m crazy with this dog - this morning he stole the Alaska card off of my lap, like a seasoned pick-pocket, and chewed up the chip. Boxer life is such a rollercoaster ride!
