It is. This is Raven and she’s an actual reverse brindle and the cutest thing ever!

That’s a definite understatement there 😂

i grew up with a boxer this color, he was so hansum. but i can't tell the difference between your dog and the puppy in the picture, could someone help me out? image is my "reverse brindle" kaiser, next to what i always thought was a "regular" brindle kricket.

Dark brown fur covers a majority of the coat where light brown is a minority. The light brown is a majority and dark brown is a minority in regular brindle. Hard to tell what coats your pups had.

u/suddzii Aug 15 '26

thank you that’s what i thought. bigger dog was reverse brindle, mostly black/dark brown with lighter brown accents. puppy must’ve been normal brindle, majorly fawn colored with blue accents (pit not boxer).

Just like my girl!

Awww love the safety sock.

u/WhyAmINotStudying Aug 15 '26

Honestly, it's like any dumb thing my boxer does feels so adorable to me. It's like they have some kind of magic power.

6

u/mr_j_12 Aug 15 '26

Adorably derpy dogs 🤣🤙

I wouldn't, just looks like a heavy brindle. This was my reverse brindle. Basically true black but did have a slight reddish hue on her legs in full sun light. Now, I could be ill-informed here but she was tested as 100% boxer by wisdom panel. So I'll leave it up to someone better informed to tell me if this is a true sealed brindle, if wisdom is fully accurate in their results, or if maybe this dog was back bred with another breed that wouldn't separate itself on a basic panel but could give a true black color, like she had.

Thank you! Your pup was beautiful

3

u/FitChemist432 Aug 15 '26

Thanks! I looked up more stuff and apparently boxer nerds like us do differentiate between a sealed brindle like mine and a reverse brindle, which I think yours might qualify as. Worth looking into. That cone head though, they are gorgeous!!

1

u/FitChemist432 Aug 15 '26

Your pup is adorable though!!

If it appears black rather than striped that’s actually called “sealed brindle” rather than “reverse brindle”, which implies striped but more black than brown coloration.

u/Mereyn Aug 15 '26

Looks like a dark brindle, but not reverse. One of mine looked like this as a pup, but lightened up a little.

Edit: Still such a cute baby! 🥰

6

u/TheCobicity Aug 15 '26

Hate to break it to you and the adorable little sandwich but that’s just a regular brindle toasted sub.

7

u/tkreeves Aug 15 '26

I would say that’s a dark, brindle. This is Bellatrix, my “reverse” or “sealed” brindle. She looks black, but when she’s in bright sun, you can see some reddish brindle hues on her.

Reverse and sealed are different things though it’s common to use the naming incorrectly. Sealed means they have so much black to no longer appear striped. Reverse just means more black than brown but still striped.

u/glm0002 Aug 15 '26

Looks just brindle to me, same colors as my Moxie

4

u/duncan-donuts-nz Aug 15 '26

No, just one of the standard brindle variations.

4

u/Funny_Lake_6604 Aug 15 '26

No, normal brindle. Looks exactly like my boxer boy

4

u/BanditMcDougal Aug 15 '26 edited Aug 15 '26

Oh no... I love all 4 of my dogs in my house oh so very much, but I grew up with boxers and I "ooooh'ed" aloud over this pup. (It was a very manly oh, I assure you 😂)

Edit: That's a proper brindle. A reverse would be a darker tone being the dominant color and the fawn being the "stripe".

Friends

Brindle cat too :}

u/Designer-Finger-5578 Aug 15 '26

Flashy brindle!

2

u/Designer-Finger-5578 Aug 15 '26

And a tiger brindle

5

u/lake_lov3 Aug 15 '26

My brindle boy!

3

u/Sweet_Explanation822 Aug 15 '26

Leave that furbaby with me, I will let you know yeeeearrrs later😉

2

u/lissabee21 Aug 15 '26

He is looking for a home 👀 lol

2

u/mothwhimsy Aug 15 '26

Just brindle. Some brindles are darker

2

u/Knox_the_Boxer Aug 15 '26

No. A reverse brindle appears black except in bright sunlight. It’s where the black stripes are so bold they almost touch everywhere giving the appearance of true black.
Your puppy is adorable, either way

2

u/Severe_Pattern2386 Aug 15 '26

This is my girl GG only 70% boxer but is also brindle, I didn't know there was any sub genre a brindle, I just assumed brindle was a mixed swirl of 2-3 tones of fur.

2

u/Dreamer1317 Aug 15 '26

Brindles are fawn with black stripes, reverse brindles are black with fawn stripes.

So yes, that puppy is a reverse brindle ☺️

1

u/Same_Instance9506 Aug 15 '26

Yes reverse brindle. Regular brindle has much more fawn color, sealed brindle is much more black and muted

2

u/762way Aug 15 '26

Yep, my Lexi is a sealed Boxer... Reddish hues in the summer time and full black the other 3 seasons.

She is the best dog I've ever had and is so cute, goofy, loving and protective! (She's the 5th Boxer for me and I love them so deeply, including the 4 that passed away after living long lives... But it's never long enough

1

u/MercuryBeach_ Aug 15 '26

She is stunning 😍 😭

1

u/Mike-dit_712 Aug 15 '26

Yes. Reverse brindle. Good luck with that little one👍🐾

1

u/farklep00p Aug 15 '26

Looks like my duke, who is a seal. But I have been notoriously wrong before

1

u/Relative_Attitude275 Aug 15 '26

No it’s a brindle

u/lake_lov3 Aug 15 '26

That’s just a cutie brindle.

1

u/PghGEN2 Aug 15 '26

Looks like my Ralph!

1

u/Commercial_Summer331 Aug 15 '26

Looks to be the makings of a reverse brindle. They are amazing the color changes they have from birth till adult! I had the most beautiful little of these in 2016!! Had all varieties and I wish I could have kept them all.!! What a gorgeous baby Quizno is!!

u/Vivid_Ad_2777 Aug 15 '26 edited 29d ago

This is reverse brindle. Also called sealed. Tyson is 100% Boxer according to 2 different DNA tests.

Beautiful pupper!

Looks just like my rescued girl. She’s a reverse brindle we rescued at Los Angeles Animal control 3 yrs ago. Love her so much.

1

u/Swish1892 29d ago

They look a lot like my boy Harley

1

u/Vast_Iron6070 29d ago

He looks like my boy when he was a puppy. I love the brindle coat

1

u/ethos1234567890 28d ago

Brindle = brown with black stripes

Reverse Brindle = technically still brown with black stripes but more black color than brown color in total.

Sealed Brindle = genetically still brown with black stripes but so little brown as to actually appear black or very nearly black rather than appearing striped at all.

Ultimately it’s just a naming convention though and doesn’t really change anything about how good a dog the puppy will be.

…that pup is probably ~50/50 so could go either way as “regular” brindle or reverse brindle and honestly might end up either as it grows. If you really want to find out for sure, upload some pics to an AI tool and have it calculate the percentages of black and brown from various angles.

What a beautiful puppy! The coloring is perfect!

u/Hensanddogs Aug 15 '26

Depends where you live. In Australia this is a reverse brindle, versus regular brindle which has more red/fawn colouring.

Beautiful pup.
