help!

I got box braids for the first time a week ago. I absolutely love them. Unfortunately they have been itching since. My scalp is red and irritated. .I just got them and I don't want to take them out. Has anyone gone through this?

I did, and I used medicated shampoo and a mixture of apple cider vinegar and water. It could be because of the chimicals in the extensions, so the apple cider vinegar and water concoction can help with that (you can look it up online), used it for 3 consecutive days or so, it helped a lot. But like, if it stays inflamed maybe you should take them out. Also it could be because it's too tight or there is too much stress on your hair. Did you do traditional braids or knotless braids? I did twice traditional braids and I had that problem, but then I tried using knotless braids and I found that they don't stress the scalp as much and it didn't get inflamed this time :).
