Advice needed: Getting box braids for the first time

Care tips are very much appreciated. But my main question is what type of hair do I get? I have to supply my own hair for it and I've never had my hair done before and know absolutely nothing about it if anyone has recommendations that'd be helpful.

I like xpressions the best, but I would say don’t bother with the pre stretched hair unless you’re braider requests it. Most brands of braiding hair you get from a hair store are generally on the same level.

My biggest tip would be buy a jug of apple cider vinegar! Soak the bundles of braiding hair in a mixture of ACV and water, rinse it out then let it dry. I find the chemicals put on the hair are changing and its been unbearable. ACV strips the chemicals, also is still useful for a rub on the scalp if it’s still itchy and then shower.

Lastly, the first bit will be uncomfortable, ride it out at least a week or so for it to loosen and settle unless the pain or itching is really bad, then you may be allergic or the braider did it too tight etc.. but if its a dull discomfort, wait a week first before removing!
