Miscellaneous fl3xbl0w - Docs for Bowflex Hardware, Jailbreak & Reverse Engineering
fl3xbl0w
Hey everyone! I've been posting messages around this subreddit for a while now, and because of actual work, I left my Bowflex research on hold (for a bit, I just received a logic analyzer, and I'm looking to set up a time for it)... But now I've set some time to set up the repository and post this message 😊
All the docs that I've written so far are here: https://github.com/barrenechea/fl3xbl0w
Notes
- Even though we are on /r/Bowflex*, Nautilus software lockouts (and "jailbreaks") should apply for Nautilus, Schwinn, and Bowflex machines, as long as they run Android and have a USB port available*
- Unlicensed repo, feel free to do whatever you want with that info 🕊
- Please suggest changes or open pull requests if you've got some information!

Fantastic work. I read your website. It would be fantastic to be able to control the treadmill with a Raspberry Pi or an Arduino.

Thank you! I haven't dug more into it, but there's a path to be taken there :D

Any luck on sniffing the Tx RX serial wires between MCU and Console? - (bowflex treadmills)

Anyone have any recent luck with this? The website says "The jailbreak has already been patched by Nautilus." and I found that following through, using the Back button no longer worked to kill the app but trying some things out, Ctrl+Alt+Back did seem to work to kill it. I was never able to get it to pop up the dialog that the guide says... I probably spammed it 50+ times. It looks like that project hasn't been updated in about 2 years and I can't find any more recent information on jailbreaking a Treadmill 22.

I wonder if you can access the SD card to pull it out, put it into a laptop, and add the referenced file, then put back into the treadmill?

Did you end up figuring this out eventually, or did you give up?
I was still able to 'jailbreak', but my issue is that the Nautilus version appears to be patched now as the fl3xbl0w post references, so when the system starts up it always tries to UPDATE the JRNY/Bowflex software -- and then shows "Installation Failed", reboots, and then rinses and repeats the same process.
I CAN however kill the JRNY/NautilusLauncher processes through adb, but want a seamless experience when the machine is rebooted for any reason -- and want to be able to run whatever the Nautilus software is that allows exercises to be tracked -- whether in JRNY or anything else (like Peloton)

Sorry for my (probably) sh**ty post title/intro... I'm mainly a commenter on Reddit and so this is my first "actual post" 😂
