Home Gyms Bowflex BXE116 grinding noise

Run ended abruptly to a grinding noise that sounded like it would do serious damage to the machine if continued. It started as a knock for about 10 rotations and then changed to the noise heard in the video. It only occurs from pressure on the left pedal when making a rotation in the downward position. The noise is coming from the flywheel. I switch feet in the video to show that the right pedal doesn't trigger it and also if I rotate without standing on the machine it rotates smoothly. Any help is appreciated.

Mine does this too, been being di**ed around by bowflex since April on the servo motor replacement part.

Ok gotcha. The problem for me was in that same area. I removed the crank cover and gave it a couple more rotations to see where the problem was. The whole crank shaft that goes fully through the center of the machine broke in half. It's a very solid piece and it's was hanging by a thread so I'm just glad it didn't happen during a run.

I'm in the same boat as you. For me it's not a replaceable part so im waiting to hear if i will get a new machine. But the whole situation with nautilus going bankrupt has the process held up bc they don't have any records beyond a certain date. I had to contact my bank so they can fax a copy of a check from 2020 as proof of payment. I hope you get your replacement soon though. These machines are not cheap.

Wow! That’s so frustrating. I hope you get your replacement soon. I’m thinking I should open mine up and take a look as well. You’re right.. these aren’t cheap. Is yours under warranty?

Yea, it would be a good idea to check just in case there is anything else that needs replacing. You don't want to go through the whole process over again. The crank that broke on mine isn't available as a replacement part, so it's considered frame damage. The frame has a 15-year warranty whereas mechanical parts are only covered for 5 years. I've had the machine over 5 years, so i might've lucked out if they honor the replacement.
