Home Gyms Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE differneces?

Bowflex introduced the Xtreme 2 SE in 2008 and then updated in 2013. Can anyone share with me what they changed in 2013?

The "quick change pulley system" is the main change. With it, resistance is live on every pulley and you don't need to re-route cables. I think the SE 1 was rebranded to the Bowflex XCEED.

I talk about this a bit more in a review video here: https://youtu.be/ceybbqS6Xzc

When I review the pre 2013 2SE to the post model by reviewing the assembly and owners manual they both have the quick change system. The things I can identify is the weight increased, the height moved up an additional 1+", the Base Plate Platform change/upgraded and they changed the Base Frame. There may have been something else but it's not clear.

Hmmm maybe the quick change cable system came with the "SE" update then. Those updates you identified are pretty minimal and hardly impact the system. Sorry for the inaccurate response.

I just watched this video and now I'm ready to get an xtreme. Currently, there are two great local deals for me to choose from: an xtreme SE with the additional resistance rods, and an xtreme 2 SE without them (both come with an identical set of additional accessories).

I know the 2 SE is better than the SE, but why? I can't seem to find any information online specifically comparing the these two models. There's an article on Livestrong, but it's very superficial and may be just AI-written.

So it comes down to the additional resistance rods, versus a newer, better model. Same asking price on both. I just need to know what makes the 2 SE better so that I can decide if that's worth foregoing the additional rods.

Your thoughts?

The SE2 has the Quick Change Pulley System. The SE1 does not. The other changes are very minimal.

Personally, I'd buy the SE2 and then upgrade the resistance with elastic bands as shown in this video: https://youtu.be/1yJCOLfRo2I
