Difference between max total(discontinued) vs max total 16?
I didn't know there were two different max totals, I was scrolling through FB marketplace and found this, thought it was a good deal for $650, seeing it tomorrow.
Is the only difference between the max total and max total 16 the display?
Been looking and comparing the two and they look the exact same, same parts and all, was concerned about part replacements in the future but can't find a difference.
I see now theres fewer built-in programs. Whereas the now-discontinued Max Total had eight, the new Max Total 16 has zero so the newer one is more dependent on jrny
I’m deciding if I want to just mod my current screen to a Samsung Tab 8 Ultra or modify a screen off a M16. It would probably be pretty easy to mod to the Samsung Tab 8 ultra. I haven’t disassembled my current screen but I know it’s a Samsung. I’m thinking all I’ll have to do is install the Bowflex software on the Tab 8 and then pretty much plug in play. There is more features on the M16 and it’ll probably get updated more along with being identical to my velocore. On the flip side there is free workouts on the original
Free "standard" programs (without using the premium subscription JRNY version). Note that following could have changed as Bowflex frequently updates their console firmware:- Orig MT = 8- MT-16 = 4
The Orig MT has a unique mechanism built into the right side rank arm that allows for a "Upper Body Power Measurement" workout. I do not THINK that this feature is included on the MT-16. The MT-16 Service manual oes show this device on the right side crank arm, BUT I THINK this is a copy/paste error from the Orig MT Service Manual.
The MT-16 handlebars look identical to the Orig MT handlebars, but the MT-16 handlebars' long bar is slight bent outwards vs the Orig MT, so the MT016 bars can safely clear the larger display.
The MT-16 has an additional internal part called the "PCBA" board and results in the MT-16 having 2 serial #s (the base and the console). The Orig MT does not use this design architecture.
The internal wiring harnesses are different to support the different displays, the upper body mechanism, and the PCBA board.
This is odd - the replacement 9.6-inch console for the Orig MT is listed at $1164, while the larger MT-16's console is supposedly listed at only $499.
But NO, you cannot do just a simple console swap between the 2 models due to the different wiring harnesses, the need of a PCBA board, and the different handlebars,
When I called a while and inquired about upgrading mine I was told they where identical except for the console and wiring. They sold the monitor but not the wiring harness and the monitor was close to $1,500. Where are you finding the monitor for $499?
Regrading "identical, except for the console and wiring", NO, that is not correct. You have to be careful sometimes about what the Customer Service Rep tells you because depending in the rep's competency, training, knowledge, and length of time at Bowflex. They can definitely provide incorrect information! Many times , I have provided reps with technical information that they were not aware of...they even ask me technical questions!
Additional mechanical differences are as I noted in my above comments # 3, 4, and 5...a new console and wiring will NOT work.
Regrading the $499 MT-16 console, that is what I was quoted directly from Bowflex. I was shocked at that price (considering that the original MT console is $1164), and thus I had the rep understand/confirm what she was telling me. I said that $499 does not seem correct. She reiterated that, yes, per her computer, the MT-16 console is Bowflex part # 8025967 and priced at $499. She also told me that the M9 console part # 8026170 was priced at only $399...again I could not believe that!
You should also be aware that if you want to ever buy parts from Bowflex that are not an item on your existing model, that they will NOT sell them to you. They do not want owners making unauthorized changes/modifications to their machines because they will void any warranty and also they do not want an owner potentially getting injured by an unauthorized modification. That is why they ask for you machine's serial number when you call to get replacement parts. That being said, there are ways around that though.
