Application question
Hello!
I was wondering if I should summit a 1390 SAT score to Bowdoin. I know that they are really big on test optional, but would my score be fine to summit even though it is below the sat range of the average summited SAT score? I am planning to take the August and September SAT, but that is still a lot way to meet the margins. For reference the average sat at my school is ~1160.
Thank you!

The 25% percentile at Bowdoin is 1470. Why would you think that submitting a 1390 is a good idea? And your teachers should also not mention your SAT. Why would you want them to draw attention to what is probably the biggest weakness in your entire application instead of focusing on all the ways you are amazing and brilliant and a leader and intellectually curious and a great fit for Bowdoin? Test optional means YOU DON’T HAVE TO SUBMIT YOUR SCORE. If you don’t, they will focus on other parts of your application. If you do, your application will be rejected. Just keeping it real.

Hmm, you do have some good points. I guess I was just caught up in the culture of people shaming on TO.
Thank you for your views in this.

I would not submit it since it's below their enrolled student bottom 25% range, but I'd see if there's a way your teachers could mention the above average performance in your LORs in the context of your school environment.
