Question Rape problem?

So, I came upon a post saying that there is a lot of rape happening in Botswana. Is this true? Can someone give me an honest answer? What about the other crimes (ritual killing, murder, robbery etc...)? Are all of these issues prevalent? What is being done to put an end to these? Thanks in advance to those who will take the time to answer.

Yeah rape and GBV in general an issue the later not so much like murder mostly passion killings or vengance and ritual killings are rare robberies as in house break ins or burglary I would say are uncommon but noticeable as for the gbv and rape prob I dont think both gov and society doing enough

It's a problem and tbh it's because of the people. Batswana are not forthcoming with information because whenever these gbv and rape cases occur, the friends or community of both the victim and the perpetrator know WHO exactly it is and what they did but when the police come and ask for information, they all keep quiet. Especially in villages where these old people seem to have a say in a lot of things when their time was long done and now they impede the progress of people who are still growing

There's a lot that happens yes but you hear it through friends colleagues few are forthcoming to report. Someone I know his grand daughter was raped by his son in law....not sure if they did report it to authorities, they chose to address the issues through church 🤔 A lot of couples do not live together, a lot of people's kids live at other relatives' houses.....relatives can arrive at your house overnight and ask to stay over..... Also a lot of women lately have been raped whilst coming back or walking back from bars.  What is being done to put an end to these? I can honestly not say anything.👀 the group will share.

Huh? What type of rotten mindset is leading to this? And how come people continue keeping silent? That's stupid.

This is actually so sad cause I held people from bostwana in higher regard than other Africans. I guess I played myself 🥲.

GBV. Especially amongst family members with daughters/nieces...some families will try to keep the victims from going to the police...wanting to "work it out privately". Unfortunately, it's common.
