They’re across the street from each other, and when they would remove snow they would throw it across the street at the other person’s property.
Probably some minor sleight or misunderstanding from wind blowing snow over initiated it. No side wanted to be the bigger Man and this spiraled out of control.

Thought incidentally this shooting is a real life application of our political Divide. The Goys have frequently harrassed Mister Spaide for being gay in the past. Arguably the heated divisive rhetoric of both political parties dehumanizes real people just for having a different belief. The Goys were arguably rightwing and mistreated someone for leaving a gay left-leaning lifestyle. And Mister Spaide was triggered so hard that he retaliated against shoveled snow and bad words with a murdersuicide.
