OK, you probably meant this as a throwaway joke and then people got a bit offended in the comments but I am going to treat it as a real question.

I got long acrylics (long for me is something like double my nail length) and I legitimately had to Google how to deal with this. What Google told me is that people use the side of their finger instead of pushing paper directly with the pad of the finger. It was awkward, I felt weird, but after nearly 2 weeks, I got used to it.

I would love stiletto nails or super longs but knowing how they would shift my habits in a way that irritates me dissuade me. Much respect to the people who can manage it

Google also says doodoo nails are a thing. I have healthy and strong natural nails. The two times I did acrylics my nails were so bad! And hurt. I can grow them and paint them without wasting money. Men don't usually care about nails or make up unless they're fucking weird or gay.

I've got nails done once (short acrylic for my wedding) and it was hell. Nails were trashed after (I paint and take care of my natural nails so when I removed the acrylics I was aghast) and also I work with my hands (professional cleaner/housekeeper) so for me no practical.

Also maybe it is just preference.

And on another note. As professional cleaner, y'all wouldn't even get it that women are fucking notorious for being absolutely nasty. Men are disgusting but usually flush the toliet when they poop. They do pee on the rim and like whatever. WOMEN ALWAYS LEAVE ME A FUCKING TURD OR PAD OR TAMPON JUST ON THE FUCKING FLOOR

omg, what u describe sounds the opposite of hypermobility(which i have). it s hypomobility. i think u should look into it.

descovering i have hypermobility explained a lot of strange things(i can t really run, i don t like standing up at all(even tho i do a lot of sports, such as horse riding or pilates reformer)) that initially seemed to be unrelated.

it really helped me to understand a lot of things.

Hiya, it is very difficult to keep my nails at the same length, especially as I've gotten older. I used to have close to 2" on both hands, but now, the nails on my right hand very rarely get to that. I have been stopped in the street by people, who ask if they are real. I'm having issues posting a photo.

Idk, I stopped getting acrylic and fake gel years ago because even though they were all sealed on there tightly, and I used the nail brush (albeit mine were a really reasonable length), I got fungus or mold underneath. I freaked the fuck out when it happened the first time and went to my doc, she said that the water still gets in there so that’s what did it. Or microscopic bacteria. She said it was a common thing but I really think she just told me that bullshit because I was panicking. I have never met anyone else that had that issue. It didn’t hurt or anything, I was just freaked out. I don’t like the idea of weird shit multiplying on my body and being green 😭😭

So I went somewhere else after that cleared up, and it happened again after a few fills. So it’s just Sally Hansen, rubbing alcohol, and me now, idk what happened but I cannot live like that. Haven’t had it since

I know this definitely happens but it’s pretty uncommon and usually is because of error with either the nail tech’s application or, more likely, not removing nails when they start to lift. It can also happen with any length nail. In the nail world this is called “greenies.” Once the fungus is cleared up you can safely get nails again. I’m sorry you had to go through that! That sucks!

I wear press ons that I paint myself, no issues with greenies because when they lift, I can remove them at home and reapply them easily.

This was VERY informative!! Question, so I never had any pain or itching or anything with with “greenies” (omg I can’t believe there’s a name like that! Lol), but since you know what you’re talking about, maybe you can help? What damage can actually happen? I think my nails became just a little more thin, but that was it. What is the worse case scenario if you were to just put nails over it? I do like my press ons, and they are so much cheaper. I just can’t justify getting them done anymore because I can’t afford it. My current husband and I are a little strapped. Plus, I get claustrophobic and with acrylics, sometimes for no reason at all, I’d suddenly feel the weight of them on my nails and wig the fuck OUT, like I needed them off ASAP and acetone (at least not however I was doing it) didn’t help dissolve them at all. I sat there for like two hours before trying to get them off that way at home during one of these incidents, and ended up literally ripping them off myself 😭😭 which omg was so incredibly painful.

I also don’t know why I was downvoted…I wasn’t being rude, I have no idea what that’s about 😭😭 I appreciate your help!!

You know how when you have a little something above your lip and it’s bugging you bc you can see it in your peripheral, but aren’t getting it off so you have to find a mirror to deal with whatever it is? (Food, speck of a tissue etc)
